  • "Without me and the French you are just Americans"

I love the audience's reaction to that joke

  • I'm a British Canadian and I love this :) My fellow English who are offended THEY KNOW WE DON'T TALK LIKE THAT OR ACT LIKE THAT! My fellow Canadians who were offended LEARN TO LAUGH AT YOURSELVES!

  • For the Americans not getting this sketch, basically most Canadians are pretty comfortable with the whole monarchy thing, and while there is an anti-monarchy sentiment present, Canada abandoning the monarchy altogether isn't likely to happen anytime soon.

  • Brilliant +1

  • Is this from saturday night live?

  • @MoltoPiccante It's from Kids in the Hall show. This sketch makes me laugh every time. Scott Thompson is the best Queen Elizabeth impersonator ever.

  • @vbt14589 Ah thank you I thought it was especially well done!

  • I think Canada should abandon the monarchy and get our own. I vote Scott Thompson; Queen of Canada.

  • Happy Victoria Day, Your Majesty :)

  • "You're just Americans" No, no you are not and yeah, I am sure your happy that way. Been to Canada and I know Canadiens. It is like an out of boddy experience. Things are so similar and people are talking the same language, but it is all different. Its erie. I am not insulting Canadiens at all and it isn't a bad place, but its just creepy how things are so different at the same time. Oh, we'll take back Mcdonalds if you take back Tim Hortons :D

  • @mojothemigo It's like America without the urban blight or deserts. But I like deserts.

  • 5 people are just... Americans. Who unfortunately aren't wanted for their bodies.

  • O CANADA

  • @Naminedeservesacloak LMAO! Especially the "America only want you for one thing! ...your body! They don't love you like I love you!"

Someone needs to make a Hetalia video with this skit~

  • @Anime77Lover

As a Canadian, I'm flattered, too. I think that we should just thank missywa politely and try not to get a big head..

  • Its Queen of Canada NOT Queen of England!

  • @LordWellington15 So she isnt queen of England?

  • @Joniarts She is the Queen of both.

  • @LordWellington15 she the queen of United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevis...AKA Commonwealth realms

  • @Raddyk12 That is correct.

  • uh oh, who invited Gavin Crawford

  • LOL That's right they want us for our body and we want them for our money, yes we did love England once apon a time but now times are different if you wanna get ahead u gotta hook up with the boss I.E > America LOL

Jokes ! Canadians love everyone and everything ^.^

  • i love you haha

  • hey that blanket hanging on the chair I used to have one just like it! lol

  • Ok, real slow so you understand: When people from the USA are referred to as "Americans," it has nothing to do with what continent they are from. Their nation is "The United States of America" so they are called "Americans," just as those from "The United Mexican States" are called Mexicans, or those from "The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania" are called Pennsylvanians, or those from "The Internet of Buffoons" are simply referred to as Buffoons.

  • The only problem I have with this is that they portrayed Prince Edward as being far more butch & macho than he is in real life. Camping him up a few notches would have brought that added sense of realism ;-)

  • wow she must have worked real hard to own all canada.

must be endless study needed for that job.

  • scott has the greatest delirious eyes

  • I have thought about this skit ever since I first saw it air. III Looooooove Yooouuu!!!

  • "Without the French your just Americans." Same goes the other way around, haha!

  • "Without the French...You're just Americans." Ouch..That hurts.

  • @paulzrulz Your comment makes no sense..so as a Canadian you find the joke offensive from a skit that Canadians created making fun of England's pretentiousness? seriously? hmm a humourless Canuck.

  • @paulzrulz Obviously you've never met most Americans. Most Americans are not like that at all, as I'm its that way with most other areas of the world. You sir, are prejudice. And...Most Americans don't think Obama is all that great, btw.

  • @paulzrulz As a Canadian you should realise this is a Canadian TV show

  • @paulzrulz - "they are so stuck up and think they are better than everyone.."

    No everyone, just you...

    what a tool...

  • What is totally amazing about Scott is just HOW much he actually looks like a young Elizabeth, both visually and in mannerisms! Sure do miss KITH!!

And is ya read this Scott - that to go beating that "tummy problem"! Laughter is the best medicine, eh lymphoma?

  • 0:26 classic

  • I luv..... YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUU

  • I'm so posting this on Facebook for Victoria Day...lol! Thank goodness Canada never abandoned monarchy, otherwise we might have to go to work on Monday! Scotts french not horrible either...The funniest is when Bruce does the «I love terriers» skit, he speaks a couple lines of French and its horrible, I wouldnt have understood without subtitles...

  • Ahahaha

  • lol that's hillarious!

KITH is fucking awesome. Damn the comedy network for not airing it anymore!

And Canada will never abandon the monarchy. We're Britain's favourite commonwealth country! WHOO!

  • 2:53!!!

  • Incredible how much Scott looks like Betty Windsor

  • @flyby7a

I've had this same conversation with other Brits before, and it's always funny. We consider America to be two continents: North and South. While we are certainly loyal to the Crown and Commonwealth, we really prefer not to be called Americans, just as I'm sure you prefer not to be called Europeans, the 49th parallel (albeit the border curves down in some places in S. Ontario and for Vancouver Island) separates us from the citizenship "American".

  • @Falwren All I AM SAYING IS THAT AMERICA IS THE ENTIRE CONTINENT,,,, It sucks that THE USA has MONOPOLIZED THE BLOODY TERM "AMERICANS"...

"we really prefer not to be called Americans" <<<<--- BUT YOU ARE AMERICANS FOR YOU LIVE ON THE AMERICAN CONTINENT,,, I do NOT know the General consensus of my countrymen.. However, i am a EUROPEAN who happens to be a British citizen.. Just like you ARE AN AMERICAN CANADIAN.. Dont sell yourself short and give them the pleasure

  • @Falwren of allowing the inhabitants of the USA to incorrectly maintaining the TERM "AMERICANS" for themselves... I maybe wrong here, but I feel that because they monopolized the term "Americans" gives the inhabitants of the USA that FAUX sense of Superiority..

  • @flyby7a for christ's sake. 'americans' is used colloquially all over the fucking world to refer to citizens of the u.s. since 'north america' is actually the name of the continent, the proper term for its inhabitants in canada and mexico is 'north americans'. thanks.

  • I just uploaded the Oral Sex Angel skit if anyone hasn't seen it! It was a Classic Scott

  • EXPLANATION, PLEASE!!

  • "Joke go...poof!" LOL

  • BAHAH

  • Probably one of the most memorable skits (aside from the obvious ones, "head-crusher" et al.)

Ahh, Scott Thompson as the Queen. Very good and not even a stretch xD.

  • how did i know it would be scott thompson ? lol

  • Hahahaha I still call my Mother Mumsie lol

  • this reminds me of monty python....

    really good! =D

  • "This is so humiliating!"

    Hahahahahaha. Great piss-take.

  • IT'S HUMILIATIIING! (Someone has to make a APH fic about this...)

    A-and what is that French even supposed to mean? ;;

  • The sentence in French, or the reference?

  • The sentence, I don't know any French. . w.

(Her pronunciation sounded terribly off even to me, though, on purpose I'd assume.)

  • Literally: "You are still together thanks to Us" (The Royal We, I assume? )

As for the pronunciation, it's not too horrible, it's just that we wouldn't separate the words like that!!

  • @lemoncurry19 "you are still together thanks to us, yes!"

  • MARK YOU ARE AWESOME

  • excellent !!! XD j'adore

  • 2:53, that laugh made me totally lose it.

  • What about 3:17 ??

  • He kind of looks like the QUEEN of ENGLAND..

  • Actually he looks better!

  • XD explanation pleeaase!

  • I live in Victoria XD

    "a ring, a dingle!"

    "I LOVE YOOOUU!!"

  • Victoria , BC is a british kind of tourist town, lots of blokes here.

  • Ensembllllle. hahahaha I miss Scott! =(

  • Great video clip, it is sad these great men of Canadian TV are no longer on this show... It is even much more sad they would come down here to the States and of course got more money but that goes to show money does not make something better. Thank god for the U.K. and Canada, to still keep up the high standers of TV. We U.S.A. people are so hungry for good TV, we have to watch stuff from up North or the BBC.

  • Yeah, cause that Benny Hill was a freakin' genius. Don't you think the only reason we even know about the shows is because they are exceptionally good. Because we don't live in those countries, we never get to see the crap they make just like everyone else. Remember, for every "The Office" that gets exported, there's an "American Idol".

  • So true. For me, there's been no good American comedy since Carol Burnett, and SNL back in the 70's. So, yes, I go to BBC too. Love U.K./Canadian humor.

  • Ah, what a delicious skit!

  • They told me that Canada had been, basically, self governing since some time in the 1800s. I asked why she still appoints their Senate; they told me their Senate, unlike ours, has no real powers. But she's still on your money. Yeah, well...they reply. Anyhow, a lot of people I know online in Canada I consider friends, and I have nothing against Canada, but I'm still not really sure why you guys didn't just say "come get us" then kick the shit out of that itsy-bitsy island known as England.

  • ...wow...

  • Hi megapolon you brainbox,

Well you know so much but you still think England is an island? Sorry, but England's only a part of an island called Great Britain. I've got lots of Canadian friends too and they hate it when we confuse them with Americans 'cos you have a reputation for being pretty stupid.. Most Americans couldn't point Great Britain out on a map anyway - they are so into themselves. I've seen the 'world news' on your TV. Lasts about 30 seconds if you're lucky!

  • Jesus, englishsinger... I did my best not to be offensive to anyone; and the Canadians I know never got as defensive as you. I'm well aware England is part of the island of Great Britain (islands if you count Ireland), but in the time context I speak of England was the only real power there, had subjugated, often brutally Scotland and Ireland, and that's what I mean. (And, NO, I'm not trying to open up some big can of worms about your brutality and our own brutal treatment of the Indians.)

  • OK megapolon, so you went out your way not to be offensive but you still think telling someone to kick the shit out of that 'itsy bitsy island' is OK? I've been to the States many times and I love it. I know if I said anything like that about your country, I would be in serious trouble, so please don't say it about mine. Remember which country supported you and sent more troops after the US to Iraq than any other country. Yes, that 'itsy bitsy sland' !

  • By the way, here's a geography lesson. The 'British Isles' comprise the 2 largest islands of Great Britain and Ireland and a lot of small ones. The countries of England Scotland and Wales are on the biggest island of Great Britain and form the 'United Kingdom'. The island of Ireland is divided of course. Southern Ireland is an independant nation and the North is part of 'The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland' shortened to the UK. Wish you 'experts' would get it right.

  • Alright, englishsinger, you know what? I was totally out of line with the "itsy-bitsy" island thing. I wasn't trying to be offensive to Canadians, but I screwed up and didn't think how that line might affect the English: people I also respect and hold no ill will toward AND have been the US's respected friend for over a century. The English's technological and intellectual achievements speak for themselves. "Itsy-bitsy island?" I spoke geographically, but I was out of line. Forget about it.

  • Thanks megapolon. That's decent of you and I accept your apology. My reaction was a bit over the top too, so I apologise for that. I've visited the US many times and I love it there but I'm proud of my own country too, There are a lot of people out there who don't like Americans or Brits and we should stick together as friends.

I have a great respect for Canada too. I just think it's sad that the English speaking community and the French speakers just can't seem to get it together.

  • By the way, don't think that we Brits don't have a sense of humour. Actually, some of us here think that the Royals are a bit of a joke too.(Guess I'll get sent to the Tower for that!)'

  • What would be the point though!?

  • Hmm... I'm American, but one thing I've discussed with many of my Canadian friends I know over the net is why the hell didn't you guys just beat the shit out of the British 200 years before you REQUESTED to be fully emancipated in freakin' 1984?! I mean, why didn't you just say: "Hey, guess what? We're going to be running ourselves completely from now on. And if you don't like that, then just come over here and try and do something about it."

  • Because megapolon, Canadians were British, they saw themselves as British Subjects, and proudly so - the Monarchy was and is a symbol of Canada's heritage and history and moreover, Great Britain, did not object to Canadians running their own affairs - Canadians didn't really have to "demand" it.

  • Because they are not America?

  • i am proud of the fact we didn't go to war to get what we wanted, you did it and it only led to more, rather unsuccessful, wars to get what you wanted

  • That's interesting because a lot of Canadians don't understand why the U.S. had to make a bloody war just to be sovereign. Maybe Canadians had no use in killing their (literal) siblings, parents, and cousins. It's not like the monarchy were making decisions for Canadians until 1984. Canada's been a country since 1867, and before that, the various parts of Canada still weren't exactly following orders from the U.K. There simply was no reason to kill. Maybe the U.S. had reasons. We didn't.

  • And BayviewFinch, I don't see it or buy it but you give a plausible reason, at least. B21983, we did too, but that deteriorated, perhaps less with you, and that's maybe why war occurred. ANYWAY, FORGET THIS. I'm hoping that someone out there has that Kids in the Hall post where the Queen visits those two British chicks and it becomes all uncomfortable and the Queen cuts those long farts. I think it was Kids... I saw it once when I was 12. Anyone know what I'm speaking of? It was hilarious.

  • I don't remember that episode.

  • Hey, yeah! I remember that one, no idea if it's online or not.

  • Because there was no point for them! You think the driving factor behind the American war of independence was the yearning to be "free"? It was about money, pure and simple. Canada's situation was quite different, they depended on the UK for a lot.

  • @megapolon

    1. Canada might have done that if the English-Canadians weren't fighting with the French-Canadians.

    2. Canada had a much smaller population than America.

    3. The War of 1812, which would have pretty much killed chances of Canadians wanting to emancipate like the Americans at that time.

    4. The fur industry would have likely been compromised as well.

It should also be said that the British Loyalists who fled the U.S. during the revolution fled to Canada.

  • @MissGreenAgain Rarely ever check my inbox, but just did, so forgive the belatedness of my response, but I had actually forgotten that I had posted those stupid comments two years ago. And, yes, my comments were stupid, but what made you look at the very, very bottom of the pile anyway? I'm actually curious. I had to go to like page 11 or something to see what I had written.

  • @megapolon I was reading all the comments out of curiosity myself. :)

  • Vous etes encore ensembles grace a nous!

  • Without me and the French you are just... Americans....

I almost spat my drink out laughing!

    Awesome!

  • @jonowaller= As an American, I find that funny. We love Canada for it's resources, your cheap medicine, your beautiful women, and rock stars.

  • @vigo894

As a Canadian, I love the USA for its friendship, its military might, its bounty of beautiful women its entertainment industry, and its rock stars (did I mention the friendship?) Happy 4th USA from a neighbor to the north!

  • @mapearce1= Well, thanks alot. I already wished Canada a Happy Canada Day, I'll do it again anyway. Happy belated Canada Day.

  • @vigo894

More than welcome! Getting ready to head across the 49th into Montana for tomorrow to partake in some 4th celebrations in Montana!

  • It's completely true. We want Canada for it's body. Sexy beast.

  • OMG we can not get enough of all that hard woody timber, from all that sexy sexy logging.

And when that thick Canadian oil spurts up from the ground, it is so hot we could just die.

So, we really do just want Canada for its body.

  • LOL, especially at 3:05! :D

  • you know I'm English, I have a hard time with my emotions!

  • "Without me you're nothing." "The Americans only want you for one thing. . .your body"

    Kids in the Hall RULES!!!!!!!!

  • Mark as Prince Edward is hilarious.
