  • I freaking love you. You're so hilarious when you're frustrated.

  • I'm really short so if I want to take something from the top shelf I have to climb a bookcase... mine isn't ikea, maybe that's why it never fell on me while climbing it.

  • if you gut a bit out of it at the skirting board will it fit?

  • I'm so glad you're doing these videos. You have been missed!

  • i think i saw your breath at one point. brrr

  • Don't mock the tube or metro anywhere else, it's a god's gift! Forget the smell and the scary people, it's the speed and reliability that counts. At least in Oslo the metro doesn't even compare to trams and busses which are the worst means of transport, trams especially with its stupid, million years old tracks making it a less then comfortable ride:-) As for the boiler, I'd die without it:-)

  • what happened to day 8? :P

  • sand the bookcase down (just on the skirting board and at skirting board level)

  • I don't know if you noticed, but if you try to build a bookcase by yourself, your eyes will sag until they've reached about the level of your nostrils. Better go get your pal so you can both smile with your neck mouths...sounds like a plan.

  • What happened day 8?

  • I have a Billy Bookcase! I sometimes like to call it my Billy Cubes... That's something I really could have kept to myself...

  • So I read this video title as "A flapjack adventure".. Spend the first minute and a half wondering when the flapjacks would come in to play...

  • I'm ashamed to say my sister attempted to climb up a bookcase. In her defence, she was about two at the time. A sofa saved her life.

  • Nwaah, Jimmmy :( .. try sand it down?

  • Take off the sideboard thing there, maybe? The bit that's about a centimetre wide, can't remember the actual name.

  • poor thing...hugs should be given for that traumatic day. xoxo

  • i was tinking abaut how u remind me of some on and now i know 'Where is Charlie '

  • so. Did Jimmy Freeze? Or did his bookcase fall on him?

  • "Where's my free emergency yoga mat? That wasn't in the box."

  • for fook's sake! :)

  • Welcome to the club Jimmy

  • P.S

Big credit to you for making me laugh the most out of most youtubers. And those instruction warnings, cleary, they are trying to insult us. I take those instructions as a "this is how stupid you are" dig. It's got to be sarcasm hasn't it?

  • Anyway what I really wanted to ask you, for a request in one of your videos. I'm interested in london, and it would be really kool if you could just go outisde and show a bit around. Just the neibourhood or go out for the day or something. That would be amazing. To just see around the place, with you giving a bit of a tour, you know what I mean?

  • that was pretty funny that it didn't fit lol. Sorry not for you though. Its good to see someone suffer. Does that make me a bad person? That I kind of enjoy it. I guess it makes me feel better, cause i deal with so much crap myself.

  • Oh Jimmy I'm so sorry about that extra 5mm of bookcase... Bless ya

  • i thought this was called flapjack adventure :(

  • i read the title as "a flapjack adventure" and honestly expected a video on how to make flapjacks or something of the like. disappointed :( haha

  • Where you live looks shit D:

  • Love that there was an advert for heating :')

  • It is cool! :D

  • lol if its literally 5 mm, just sand a bit of the skirting and or book case?

  • :( be happy again

  • you are my ikea flat pack furniture soulmate. lets get together

  • YOU FAILED THE CHALLENGE.

  • I'm mildly alarmed by the fact that I'm more attracted to you when you're angry.

  • With a friend, there is a pencil!

  • Soooo, I hope I'm not the only one who spent about 20 minutes going crazy searching for day 8... >.< I expect some sort of compensation Jimmy!

  • Jimmy, don't complain about the coldness. We have -20 degrees Celsius today.

  • Day 9, my eye! Where is day 8?

  • Ive been saving this video in my sub box all day, waiting to watch it before heading to bed. Its only halfway through the vid I realise its about Flatpacks and not Flapjacks. :( I dont think Im even dyslexic.

  • Oh Goodness snow :C i would feel bad for you if i didn't have the possibility of snow in APRIL... I actually do feel bad about the bookshelf GOOD LUCK JIMMY :)

  • i would just take off the wood on one of the sides. it's going to be up against the wall anyway

  • Who do you live with??

  • sand it! haha, it'll look gruesome, but it'll fit!

  • It's worrying how excited I got when I realised we have the same bookcase. Oh and you could sand off the bottom, either side, just to fit past the skirting :)

  • this kind of made me sad for you :(

  • Also video 8?

  • I think jimmy should of drawn a hat on the ikea man to make it more accurate. :)

  • When I was four I tried to climb up a bookshelf and it fell but the couch next to me stopped it from falling completely on top of me. I've been waiting so long for an appropriate time to tell this story!

  • :(

  • Comment removed

  • Lift it up and it will sit on the skirting boards within the alcove.

  • Possibly the worst American accent I've ever heard. I'm sorry.

  • ...the time I just spent, trying to find day 8! ;)

  • just cut the boards on the side a bit. thats what i would do.

  • "you deserve to be smashed by a bookcase if you try and perform that stunt" Jimmy you crack me up!

  • yay America!!!

  • how high up is your ceiling?

  • Thought the video title said flapjack adventure.

it didn't snow much though, in fact it barely snowed at all.

  • Just saw off an inch off the central panel bits of it? Then drill new holes and such...might work :L

  • Just saw into one side :/

  • You know, room expands with heat. When the boiler broke, the alcove just shrank, that's all. Fixed heating --> room expanding again--> bookcase fits, problem solvedXD

  • @BitterblueValley thank youu :)

  • You know you could of just measured it first... :\

  • i thought the title was 'a flapjack adventure' at first... but then i saw the video.

  • Does anyone know if he has twitter?? x

  • @RuleBritanniaLalala He has.. I think it's hi_jimmy (:

  • God at least it fits in, if it was too big then you'd have a bigger problem.

  • "wheres my emergency yoga mat??" ;) xx

  • just an idea, but if the bookcase doesn't work out it'd make good firewood ;D

  • Turn it diagonally! Problem solved. :)

  • What I love about you Jimmy, is the fact you're so normal.. other youtubers seem to have perfect lives and you're just the normal British person.. annoyed at Ikea furniture :)

  • Jimmy, take the skirting board off, then it'll fit.

  • Did he just say crazy kook?

  • I got a bookcase in the hope that it woulds fit under my bunkbed. It did not. But it's fine because no one really needs the top bit do they? *Ominous creeking sound from bookcase*

  • Babe...it's day 8.

  • Who lives with you jimmy?!!!!!

  • I once built a desk in the room adjacent to the one where I wanted the desk so that I'd have more room. Then I realised the desk wouldn't fit through the door, and I had to take it apart again, then rebuild it.

  • Aside from the destructive options of cutting bits off the skirting board or bookcase, If the skirting board is the only thing stopping the bookcase fitting in the alcove could you construct a skirting board high platform (using wood or stacks of books/phone directories) and set the bookcase into the alcove above the level of the skirting board? Ideally some sort of appropriately sized open sided wooden box(es) such as those designed to hold CDs allowing an extra shelf to be created.

  • cut some of the skirting board off!

  • the tube is fantastic Jimmy. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, LEAVE!!!! :)

  • Did you just skip day 8 and hope no one would notice? ;)

  • @chloebethmartyn or lose count... maybe in London there IS no 8.

  • @chloebethmartyn I'm not complaining. There was a time when I had to wait about a year and a half for a new video from Jimmy.

  • I climbed an IKEA bookcase once, does that mean I deserved to get squished?...

  • Maybe it would have helped if you measured it before hand?

  • saw a bit off?

  • my heating is broken too. :(

  • Day 8?

  • By night you can at least stay in bed to stay warm, so hopefully the boiler guy is coming very early in the morning....

  • remove the skirting board?

  • why is this day 9? i thought it was day 8?

  • also, it might have been a good idea to measure the space before buying a bookcase and hoping it would fit? try it next time! :P

  • i love to put together ikea furniture, but i'm always left with screws that don't go anywhere and i'm always afraid it's gonna fall apart. it never does though :D

  • @Laguna2432 I had the opposite problem with my last Ikea purchase. I broke a couple of the little wooden dowels/sticks and found there were no spare ones. I had to whittle some myself with a knife and pencil sharpener.

  • @Oct23rd4004BC if you go to the customer counter they give you spare ones! i know because once we lost an entire package [they were not in a box just glued to the shelf and must have somehow gone missing] and they just asked what product and then gave me a whole new pack :)

  • @Laguna2432 Thanks, I didn't know that. Although Ikea is ~an hour away, it was night time, and my floor was covered in shelf bits.

  • aww Jimmy :(

  • Balance it on top of the skirting board?

  • Jimmy, you're accent. I just... Nom.

  • Wait- You measure thing in millimetres and centimetres?

  • @herself Yeah, we work in metric in the UK. Only some things are imperial - pints of milk and beer are the ones that spring to mind, but even then they have it in litres on the packaging too.

  • You can buy electric heaters.

  • I can't even imagine how awful it'd be if our heating would break. There's from -20 to -30 degrees everyday!

  • Haha, as if nobody've seen day 8 is missing :P

  • Just sand down one side of the bookcase ;]

  • @993Sheldon or the skirting board

  • ur missing day 8...

  • Free emergency yoga mat Hahahahaha i love you

  • Jimmy, do you even read books?

  • YOU'RE MEANT TO MEASURE THE SPACE BEFORE YOU BUY THE FUNITURE!

    hahaha

  • I like screwing them in too!

  • It's like one of those viral horror films where we watch somebody slowly lose their sanity and destroy their own lives.

  • I don't blame you, I'd be grumpy too

  • Come to New Zealand then. It's bloody hot!

  • I love Ikea! I love meatballs! I live close to an Ikea store, and wait... I'm swedish so I'm born to love those things...

  • look at you wearing that hat like a crazy kook

  • why is this video 9, i didn't know the "Stupid Idea" video counted. Numbers not adding up. Fix it Jimmy.

  • I'm cold too! It's -26 celsius degree here in my hometown in Finland :)

  • Remove the skirting board/baseboard/base molding or whatever you call it. The bookcase will fit. When you leave the flat just put the molding back, no one will notice.

  • can't you remove that part of the skirting board Jimmy?

  • jimmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Students are supplied with books and bookcases in the event that boilers break down.

Then they have an endless supply of flammable material for a fire.

  • If you had enough time and patience you could take the bookcase apart and take 1cm off each shelf and remake :) Then it would fit like a glove

  • build a bonfire in the middle of your apartment to warm up...with the wood from that goddamn bookcase that doesn't even want to fit. just sayin.

  • And that is why you measure first, Jimmy xD

  • Turn a light on while filming..

  • In case you haven't thought of this, just take off the baseboards (or whatever you call them in England) that are on that little bit of the wall and the bookcase will fit. Then, keep the baseboards somewhere and put them back on if/when you move out of that flat.

  • I fear he's beginning to lose his mind.

  • I just really love when you mock directions and warning labels. Plus the word 'squashed' just highly amuses me. I'm lovin' these daily vlogs XD

  • I hate when that happens...even if you measure it (sometimes walls and stuff aren't exactly square/straight/level) . I'm now frustrated for you.

  • I'll keep you warm, Jimmy.

  • jimmy's 20 for 20 is the equivalent of reality television. SUCH a guilty pleasure. guilty because obviously jimmy is slowly dying on the inside, pleasure because it's so damn amusing.

  • Did somebody say rip the molding off yet?

  • Oh shit, that does suck. Did you not measure beforehand?? Silly Jimmy.. :(

  • The lighting in your flat is horrible

  • i really wanted to hug you after watching that. sometimes, we just have days where nothing seems to go right. i had one of those last week. my shit mood carried on for a few days, and things continued to go wrong, but today was awesome. i don't know why.. i think i changed my attitude. when i woke up, i literally spoke to myself aloud and said, "Jess, today is going to be a good fucking day. Now go brush your teeth". tomorrow will be better. much love.

  • Try having your heating broke when you live in fucking northern Michigan and there's like 8 feet of snow outside your window. Good ole' time.

I do genuinely hope your luck improves, though. :)

  • Ugh we can't use a heater because it leaks gas:( lol hopefully you get some warmth soon!

  • i feel the biggest urge to bring you warm cookies and a portable heater and play some boredom busters with you to cheer you up :(

  • I think that I'd rather have fewer videos than twenty vlogs like this.

  • Aw cheer up. I was once without power for 5 days in the month of December. Probably not as cold. I was in Washington. But cold enough. You should get a small, portable heater. They're usually around $20 (I don't know how much they are in London) and they work amazingly well!

  • Just sand the bottom sides down a bit and repaint :)

  • forget the bookcase, go back and buy meatballs

  • wow this is hilarious. jimmy you idiot not measuring before you bought it. i love you.

  • where's day 8?

  • you could burn the bookcase for warmth! :D

  • you LIKE building IKEA things? Quick, marry me so you can live here and do it for me.

  • What happened to day 8? ;)

  • It sounds like you had a bit of a bad day... I hope day 10 is better =)

  • Would your landlord kill you if you removed the molding from the alcove? I also really enjoy putting together Ikea furniture.

  • Always measure up first Jimbo.

  • Ikea are advertising to the right of this video. Jimmy, you sold your soul to them!

  • If only you'd had a naked cartoon friend with a pencil behind his ear, it all would have turned out differently.

  • As soon as you mentioned Ikea, my mind immediately brought me back to your old video about Ikea, bahahha :) so funny

  • i was halfway through watching this when my mum yelled out to me from the other end of the house asking if i wanted to go to ikea with her... weird.

  • Sand down your skirting board maybe? :S It's pain in the hole but you'd get to see your lovely Billy bookcase!

  • I like the tube in London and the subway in NYC. I'm pretty fond of both.

  • i feel like someone should check up on him in a bit to make sure he's okay....

  • Just nail the bookcase shelves into that wall, get rid of the sides *^_^*.<3

  • Surely I'm not the only one who thinks that Jimmy looks crazily like John Barrowman?

  • @RaynaOfSunshine Just googled him, I guess a little though Jimmy is much hotter. :)

  • @binsk True...but if you Google him as Captain Jack Harkness, you can see the likeness much more. The only reason I know who he is is because of Torchwood and Doctor Who...

I don't disagree with you on Jimmy being hotter, though.

  • im having the same problem! its so cold and our heating and hot water doesn't work. i can almost see my breath in front of me :(

  • sand the skirting board down! might take a while but it'd fit eventually. also who buy furniture without getting the measurements first...plank!

  • HAHA I feel so bad for him :(

  • If it makes you feel any better, it's -30 C where I live.

  • it's ok. you're still a crazy kook

  • you could sand down the skirting board pretty easily and it would fit perfectly but will require a re-counting of paint on the aforementioned skirting board.

  • I was expecting Flapjacks! Must be going blind. My Mum warned me over that!
