found out about this guy through listening to Hank 3. 20 min later also found out about the senseless loss. I wish stringBean kept a 12 gauge next next to his Banjo, he coulda wrote a song about it, and many more there after
@donnalethal its sad really, he grew up dirt poor, but was so happy and proud to make a name for himself, and make a little money, and it got him killed. hes a country/ bluegrass pioneer, but i bet very few if any of todays country music stars even know who he was, i dont think hes even in the country music hall of fame.

I"m from Jackson County and have actually been part of the Stringbean festival, so it's interesting to see Stringbean in action.

The best music you can hear for sure. Too bad the flks today don't know or understand (or WANT TO understand) this music. Greatest stuff ever was.

@opryman65 Definitely good music.
But don't despair, some of us young'uns are carrying on the tradition better than ever.
For us, any song can become bluegrass. You just need the instrumentation and some good pickers.

This song is pure Bill Monroe, and Stringbean did it so well.
