Just bought this bike and I am riding the living piss out of it! Mine was about $1800. Ive been taking it back to my LBS to have them adjust the derailleurs as the cables settle in. The WTB Bronsons are ok. They grip pretty well for the most part but if you lean the bike over pretty good the high tread blocks on the outer part of the tire start to give and make you feel like the bike is loosing traction. I have ordered a set of Bontrager 29-0 tires. Very happy with this bike!
@rjetta8v since I made this video I have converted to tubeless(super easy with the stans wheels), the decreased airpressure makes the stock tires much grippier. I got a thudbuster at a bike swap for 15 bucks, and converted to single speed. Ive got it right where I want it now.
I'm the same height as you are and am looking at my options as far as 29ers go. Have you logged many miles on it yet with any specific ride qualities/pitfalls? I've read mixed reviews on the Reba fork, what do you think?
Ive put a few hundred miles on it since I made the vid, and I dont have much to complain about. The frame size is perfect for me and I havent had any trouble with the fork. My only complaint is that the "Hard Tail" gets a little old on the longer rides. Great bike overall. If you have a couple extra bucks you should check out the Spearfish by Salsa. Im thinking of making the mariachi a rigid hard tail and picking up the spearfish for the longer trail rides.
