wow, i know he's of nigerian decent and born in london.. but man, the accent he pulled off in oz as adebisi and his natural accent are amazingly different!
Eamonn Walker who plays Karim Said is British as well. Plus someone mentioned Domenic West from the Wire, well Idris Elba who plays Stringer Bell is ALSO British.
Hell yeah,, his best role was OZ, man,, so sad its gone, it was the best drama on HBO ever in History, I thought it blew away Sopranos, The Wire, and Sex In The City hands down. He was also in The Mummy and Ace Ventura 2 and Get Rich Or Die Tryin, great actor
You guys should see him in Faster (2010) movie with The Rock. He was brilliant in it. Real talent just like Chiwetel Ejiofor - another african-brit btw.
WoW! Talk about typecasting & stereotyping! He's an actor. Why can't a Nigerian/Black Brit have a law degree you wankers!? That's just like the whores who "fell in love" with Idris Elba when he was on The Wire but had some disappointment when they found out HE was a Black Brit & DJ. That just goes to show how good they are at their craft. Shallow Yanks..what a disgrace!
Greedy. Asked for 5x times an already hefty sum just for a cameo scene or two. I bet it would have only been a quick smile at the end of the church scene in the finale. Disgrace.
I was disappointed when I found out that he was born in London but I was really disappointed when I found out he has a Masters Degree in Law. It just ruined my fantasy of this hard core African Mandingo.
I have wanted this guy for the longest time. Even before OZ, back when he played a clairvoyant in "Delta of Venus" and had that film's sexiest moment.
@gamenigeria Look i said "Adebisi", obviously i was referring to his character on OZ (who is a brilliantly acted MANIAC.) Don't come at me with that horseshit. And damn, I really had to look back for my old comment, y'all musta spent some time findin' the perfect comment to point out a "racist", naw ya wrong. Go on with you're nonsense
More defined English accent, his comes off more between an American tone and a bit of an English one. Like Dominic Mongahan for instance a more defined tone.
well I dont exactly live in the UK so this sounds like a pretty normal English accent to me. He doesn't sound American to me, when it comes to the US there are different accents, there is the southern redneck accent those are the guys in Florida, and most of the south and then there is the East Coast and African-Americans have a kinda different accents from their white counter-parts.
He sounds so British (yeah, I know he's a Brit). It still throws me off.
I loved this guy in OZ, but I admit I haven't seen "G.I. Joe" because it seems sooo cheesy (plus, it doesn't seem he has a big part in it anyway). Other than LOST, has he really done anything worth watching in the last five years? Even if not, he's still forever the legendary fucking beast ADEBISI to me.
he did, just not in the previews, i saw it yesterday, he had british accent in it and he is got nigerian blood in him, even did g.i joe's premiere in Lagos.
this is a fucking trip. i've been stuck with the adebisi voice in my head when i think of this cat for ten years. holy shit. he's more british than me!
this is his real accent. if anybody took the time to read his bio then they would know that he was born and raised in England. I never heard people say Biggie, Busta Rhymes, or Shyne should use their real accents.
Kids love him?

it's kind of funny and in the same time it make me very happy and surprise . why ?
because i assume every person who saw Adewale's characters in Oz and in Lost would be surprise to see a nice and so sympathic man .
for me - after seen this interview - i concluded that Adewale's personality is an amazing example for imitation model .
i wish i would be calm and happy like he is .

what d'you mean by heavier, do you mean some kinda blend between the English accent and African accent
PeterEhik 2 years ago
More defined English accent, his comes off more between an American tone and a bit of an English one. Like Dominic Mongahan for instance a more defined tone.

'defined' ? Adewale has a standard southern English accent, Dominic Mongahan has a Manchester (North West England)/American blend now.
