This is a fine rendition of the YRC. I've just come back from Beijing and heard it twice at the NCPA there. Chinese audiences love it! One performance was with a "Chinese" orchestra rather than a Western orchestra: the traditional instruments give a whole new dimension of tonecolour to the concerto and make the last mvmt especially more exciting.
I have just discovered this piece and played Nadia's rendition first 4 movements. A great performance! That said, this concerto's parts are greater than its sum. To me it comes across as a hodge-podge of beautiful vignettes that left me unsatisfied overall. Not much Chinese about it really - sort of reminds me of the old stereotype of Japan/China stealing parts from the West and gluing tham together to make something to hang their flag on.
@edgey4u that's because chinese music is almost exactly what you think of it as. It's pentatonic (well, we have micro-tones, but since this is written in western notation, no micro tones) and it's asian, congratulations sherlock.
This is really wonderful. Your pianism is superb, very good articulation and much feeling. I do hope this work achieves more visibility as time goes on. The melodies are beautiful and the work is rich with arpeggios, octaves and scale work.... piano in all its glory.
This is the first time I heard this concerto spiritually performed by Jewish musicians with eternal beauty.

Boy oh boy, does she look uncomfortable in that piano seat and with heels, like
a straight-jacket in the dress. My favorite piano concerto. Lang Lang looks more natural playing it. Brass here wasn't exactly with the tempo.

Great fun; great performance - of the only piano concerto ever to be composed by a committee! Thanks for posting.

I am touched because the pianist is trying hard to present the beautiful of this work although there is somehow lack of chinese emotion. Good work!
