The recommend snail size is VERY small, about the size of the puffers eye. To get snails that small you pretty much have to grow them in a separate tank. Use a piece of cucumber to attract the baby snails. Be-careful, not to overfeed them.
oh my god get off the snail kick! they dont even crunch through the shells! they suck out the soft body of the snail. if you want to wear their beaks down, live them a fresh mussel shell with a tiny bit of meat on it.
they don't NEED snails. It is not very common for them to have their beaks get overgrown. sometimes it is easier to crush bigger snails for them to eat. mine are eating mainly live blackworms. i wouldnt feed them guppy fry or anything from outside because anything fromt he wild has a chance of introducing parasites.
Hi, I have 4 of these puffers. I have had them for about 1 month. I am feeding them on blood worms, guppy fry and brine shrimp, Can I feed them garden snails ? Or only water snails how long will they live for. What do you feed yours and how big is your tank ?
@MrMrFishyman my puffer nipped nearly all of my betta's fin gone ! so don't.

also, brine shrimp have very little nutritional value so they should only be fed as a treat.

Brine shrimp are good but don't wear down the teeth. Need to feed water snails from time to time.
