  • When I saw this in London a few weeks ago, I cried at this bit because he was such an amazing dancer!

  • So much better when seen live... The bass sounds here are really powerful and you can actually feel the music vibrating through your body. Saw this in May in London - extraordinary. Really powerful. This makes you want to jump onstage and dance with him!

  • My favorite moment out of of all the musicals I've ever seen. Even though this vid is crap quality, it makes me cry from just remembering how I felt sitting there.

  • makes me cry! so powerfull and just bloody fantastic choreography!

  • At first I thought that was the audience at 1:40

  • so great, but this is a number that can really only be experienced at it's fullest live as the opening steps radiate through the audience like thunder

  • just saw billy elliot in SF! it's a must see.

  • wow, billy's angry

  • That isn't dance. It is pure raw pain!

  • I just got back from seeing this in NYC! Jacob Clemente was performing as Billy, and he was AMAZING!!

  • I just love how much emotion is put into this dance. The fierce movements and power of everything just makes it amazing to watch.

  • I saw this wen I went to new York nd this was by far the best danceing I hve ever seen by someone this age he was amazinggggg nd he was 12!(wel the person who played Billy Elliot when I saw was)

  • I just saw this on Broadway (well, not THIS one...) OHMYGOD this by far my favorite dance. So intense. So amazing~

  • So now we know where Zac Efron got it fr the "Scream" routine in HSM3. He took this, added rotating walls and pussied up the dancing.

  • Unfortunately, Angry Dance just doesn't lend itself well to any video. It needs to be experienced on stage. I like to be so close to a speaker that my seat shakes. My first show was in 2007 (Layton in London). Best Angry Dance I've ever experienced has been Cesar Corrales in Toronto (ex Chicago). Maybe there's been a more powerful Angry Dance. But I can't imagine it.

  • i really hope they release this as a stage production on DVD like they did with Rent.

  • Alex Ko is amazing as Billy Elliot. Wish I could see his performance in video here...

  • @luckmed1967 i kniw right ! i saw his preformance he puts alot of angry in the dance and does it faster! i saw him do it when my class went on the trip to the musical

  • @luckmed1967 i know right ! i saw his preformance he puts alot of angry in the dance and does it faster! i saw him do it when my class went on the trip to the musical

  • when i saw it on broadway (and whick im going to see for a second time on sunday) it was much louder and, well, intense when i saw it. my billy was Alex Ko........... BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hahaha "I'm so angry I'm going to..... TAP DANCE!!!"

This is actually pure brilliance (:

  • I dislike musical and dance, i prefer dram, but in particular naturalistic drama. I find silence can be just as powerful as music

  • @Chaoshero22 true but I am the opposite they are both good in their own way.

  • @Chaoshero22 Hey, I highly advocate straight theater as well, but you do have to admit that this song is POWERFUL. Maybe it's just because i have seen it live, because when you see it live, you get chills.

  • Billy Elliot is fucking brilliant!

It's touching and moving; one moment it makes you smile en the next moment cry.

My favorite parts are The Angry Dance, the Swan Lake scene and The Letter (reprise).

But the most touching moment is in the end when Billy's leaving: "Hey! Dancingboy!"

Holy fucking shit... these kids are brilliant; this show is brilliant.

  • i have never seen the show! why is he mad?

  • @TheBroadwaybabe01 Because his dad and brother don't want to let him go to audition at the National Ballet School, or dance at all. It's really truly an amazing show. I cried multiple times. It's definitely worth seeing :)

  • it just gives me goosebumps

  • Listen hard, and you hear the music from "Solidarity" at one point!

  • This was my fav part. I LOVE this SHOW!!! :DDD

  • thanks for this part... i love this scene

  • this dance never ceases to amaze me.

i've lost count of how many time i've watched it here and i've seen it live twice but it always gets me.

it's just incredible how emotional you get and the adreneline rush that comes over you.

if you haven't been to see billy elliot live i highly suggest you do, and this is the reason!

  • @heidiheidi001 I couldn't agree with you more. I was emotionally exhausted after seeing this scene live. It's so rare that a scene can do that to you

  • wa u little bastered... wa does he say

  • @TheWacOjack he says "dance you little bastard"

  • This was my favorite scene of the whole musical. This musical was absolutely amazing!! My grandma took me for my birthday and I literally cried because the dancing was so beautiful and I couldn't believe how much talent the boy who played Billy has. Absolutely amazingg!

  • I just saw this last night...and i cried literally because of the yound kids talent...slimply spellbinding ♥

  • Haha went to see this on broadway xD One i saw he totally tore his entire bed apart. Tossed the blankets and matrices down off the set piece.

  • @WhitexTigerxHinata I saw one like that too in Chicago lol also like some others I was brought to tears at the sight of the actors' passion and talent

  • I just saw this yesterday and this was the most powerful part for me in the play!

  • How ironic i do the same exact dance too wen anrgy.. Just amazing

  • i saw billy elliot a few weeks ago w/ some choir people. the kid playing billy elliot was amazing

  • AGHHH I saw this a week ago with Alex Ko!! :D :D Goddamn this was sooo amazing. The whole show was amazing, but this number was beyond words.

  • This number is absolutely brilliant!

  • There's nothin like watching the boy on stage performing this dance and shouting "C'mon Bily!"... Goose bumps...

  • if i could, i would see this show every day

  • @jennifercwebster I'm right there with you Jennifer, it's agood thing I don't live in London 'cos all my money would go to Billy...

  • @athadj haha same!

  • This dance is better live. Nothing beats the thrill of watching the actor express the dance in person!

  • I saw Alex Ko a few days ago, omg and he was amazing. I can describe how impressed i was with him. haha his performance made me fall in love with that little boy. Poor Alex though, his dad died.

  • i recently saw Billy Elliot at the Victoria Palalce Theatre aswell.

Billy was played by Dean-Charles Chapman- he was absolutely amazing!

Michael was played by George Maycock and he was so funny:)

  • Favourite piece from the musical

  • Thursday I went to see the musical at the victoria palace, it was just amazing.

Billy was played by Fox. He was good !

    This part is my favorite.

  • @etlketlk I saw Fox as well, he was amazing

  • Fave Billy - Trent Kowalik

    Fave Michael - David Bologna

    <3

  • Comment removed

  • @christianbeadlesxx how can you say that unless you have seen every single michael and every single billy perform live?

  • saw it in nyc last night

  • Well I have seen one, and the boys who plays billy looks same, but only the face! Especially if you sit on the top on the balcony. Like I did. And I think we had Ollie Gardner. And he was the best!!

  • I saw Ollie Gardner just yesterday! And it's really difficult to describe just how amazing this is live! Ollie Gardner can TAP! And it's INCREDIBLY loud!

Hopefully seeing it again somewhen :)

  • ive seen three billys, sam angell, brad wilson and olly gardner. brad was definately my favourite, then olly, then sam. they were all amazing and very different but brad was definately the best

  • Yeah I've seen three Billys and Brad was definitely my favourite, especially in this dance, he still managed to look graceful.

  • i prefer bret McKenzie angry dance

  • Epic! I do perfer Liam more but Leon is still AMAZING!

  • Love this show-especially this song. I like the bit withthe cops and shields, but also the very beginning in his bedrrom.

ultimately my fav. billies.r Fox Jackso-Keen and Tom Holland.

My fav. Michael has to be Jake Pratt.

  • Eeee saw tis with tom holland sooo amazing :D

  • now if someone could just get the broadway version up my life would be complete

  • type in 'trent kowalik tony awards' then you'll see it

  • my fav. part about the angry dance are the coppers with there sheilds smashing the stage it is so powerful

  • @jking7stealth me tooooooooooooooooo they did it much more longer and louder i swear wen i went.

  • @jking7stealth And it also gives you a headache xD

  • cool

  • all the billys r brill

  • did you film this in the theatre? thats well out.

  • best show ever

  • I saw this with Fox and in this dance he was sooooo amazing.

  • Meh.

  • what is he taking off his feet. is it his shoes or something because he doesnt put anything on after that

  • He takes off his shoes on the outside and his tap shoes are underneath

  • I saw it Thursday 13th it was absolutely amazing we are thinking about going to see it again

Best musical up there so far!!!

    xxxxx

  • i saw it thursday it was a SPECTACULAR show !!!

  • Wow AMAZING! This kid has so much talent!!!

  • Well this musical is based on actual events (the miners strike) and how it effected everyone and its true to life and not fantasy like most musicals

  • can you find liam mower's billy elliot angry dance on youtube ?

  • Billy Elliot was amazing! Saw it in Melbourne, so sad it's closed in Australia! Angry Dance absolutely stunning, though different to the UK one.

You can find Michael Dameski's (melb billy) angry dance on youtube.

  • If I needed to get this angry to dance this well I don't think I'd mind throwing a tantrum c:

  • I saw this in London not too long ago and this was probably my fav. part, looks a lot better when you're there though.

  • i saw this in melbourne tonight

the boy that played billy didnt fit wat i thought the billy would look like but he was so good to watch no matter wat

do people actually remember that the boys playing billy are 12,13,14 years old so i wouldnt say anything about them not being good because i dont no any boys that could do this

  • I went to see the Melbourne Billy Elliot and Josh Denyer was performing. He was spectacular. Honestly, a boy of that talent can bring you to tears. He just made you want to start thrusting your body around and get up and dance along with him. AMAZING

This was my favourite routine. Really powerful!

    xx i loved it.

  • I like the way they intersect 2 scenes. Amazing!

  • is this play going to tour in the us?????

    it looks amazing!

  • its in broadway!

altough many ppl argue that westend london performance is the best. (and original, obviously.)

  • It was better on broadway

  • You can't judge it from just a recording, unless you've seen it you have no idea. And also lots of the Billys in Broadway came from the London show seeing as it originated there.

  • I saw it on broadway about a month ago and this part left everybody speechless. It was just so amazing and the atomosphere was so intense that you couldn't help but be wowed.

I actually had the priviledge of meeting the boy who played Billy on my night, Tommy Batchelor. After the play we went and ate at subway and he walked in. So we got a picture with him. He is so amazing, as are all the Billys. :)

  • I remember when I went to New York a few weeks ago and saw this on Broadway... holy crap.

The kid playing Billy was astounding. It was so amazing and by the end of the song I could barely breathe because of the anxiety that had built up. It's a fantastic song and dance and it's so amazing to watch in person.

  • :P your not aloud cameras during the preformance!

  • but im glad he filmed it anyway!

  • i luv it when he gets in and out of the "hole" in the stage....at the moment i can't quite recall what its called but anyway its awesome!

  • billy elliot is definitely going to win practically all of the awards at the Tony's. Can't wait!

  • It's an absolutley better experience to actually be there and watch it live. That was amazing! Really!!

    I love this part :)

  • You really can't appreciate the atmosphere by watching a video, the band and lights and everything make it amazing.

  • i saw this when fox jackson-keen was playing billy, that was such an awesome show.

    that boy is so talented,

    i loved this dance (:

  • this show is amazing i highly recommend it! This was my favourite scene: so dramatic and intense!, and the choreography is incredible!

  • i was at this last saterday and i was sitting 8 rows from the front and it is a very moving musical both funny and extreamly emotional and the boys who play billy deserve alot of credit i have been to alot of musicals i meen alot and this has been by far the best one for an emotional connection to the story and als really makes u laugh with the whole margret thater lol just a great performance all round no faults what so ever.

  • i went to watch billy elliot and t was absoloiutley amazing, its the best show i have ever seen. this scene was my favourite one cos his tapping is just amazing and has such a high impact. you cant get the real atmosphere from this video- you really need to go and see it. this is so good x

  • I love this dance

    its AMAZING

  • hahaha "i'm so angry i'm going to...flip my bed up so there's more space to dance!"

  • i absolutly love this part of the show i was like tingling it was AMZING

  • no wonder why they call it the angry dance its scary but amazing

  • i saw this in london a few weeks ago -- it was incredible.

  • i saw this in New York two weeks ago. it is fantastic

  • favourite bit in the film and the musical

    AMAAAAZING

  • Thise bit is unreal how amazing it is!! x

  • Eh... I don't like the part in the dance where Billy is in his room, because in the plays, the room is too restrictive to allow him any motion, and it shows in the dancing. The rest is just fantastic, though.

  • that is far to picky but nice point

and do u not think that size room is restricted???

  • Do I not think that size room is restricted? I think the size of the room is restricted. That's what I just said. So... yes, I think?

  • i think thats deliberate though, it shows he is all boxed up at home and confined, and then he breaks out of it and dances :D

  • I think that's kinda the point.

  • i think that part is sybolic.

  • I know, I know, I just don't think the symbolism of the play should inflict upon the more surface aspects of it, though I see where you're all coming from.

  • true, but doesnt the confined space in the beginning make his dancing in the open space that much more amazing?

  • i saw this lst june- it was simply amazing ..i didnt want to leave after the show!! i loved it!!! amazing dancing and singing btw xoxo

  • Thank you so much for posting this. It was Leon who played Billy the first time I saw the show, and there were tears running down my face - which never happens, certainly not in public. :) I've been to see the show sevral times since (something else I NEVER do!) but always with different Billys. ts great to see Leon do it again. Thanks.. (And the fool on here who is talking about the boys not getting an education doesnt know what he is talking about. These kids are better schooled than most!)

  • I saw this while it was still in previews back in 2005. George Maguire was Billy that night, and his Angry Dance floored me. I remember him practically flinging himself into the riot shields, and 'collapsing' at the end, only to get back up Rocky-style and give almost a mini-encore. It looks like they took that last bit out of the actual production, but it still looks quite incredible.

  • I saw this last year with Fox Jackson-Keen - it's brilliant. This is good but the real thing is a million times better - definitely go and see it if you can!

This was my favourite scene. I didn't even like tap much before this.

  • tis illegal

  • what's illegal? Letting kids perform on stage? As long as they have school, and don't perform every single day, it's fine. I know that broadway has 3 billy's and 2 michaels, because the roles are so demanding. But children acting isn't illegal

  • your right, west eng has 4 billys and 3 michaels.

    its definatly not child labour..

americas broadway and englands west end are the main stage places anyway.

so yeah. just wanted to agree with you lol

  • i saw this a few weeks ago, with tanner as billy, and this scene actually made me sob more than ive ever sobbed before....just so powerful!

  • this was my favorite part!!

  • this was amazing saw it today

it made me cry but it was amazing!

    loved it =]

  • I saw Fox yesterday. When he did this dance he was so incredible he almost bought me to tears. Incredible show. Outstanding

  • which is the one where he backflips off a wall?

  • I saw Josh Fedrick last February and he did loads of backflips off the wall...but some of the others might do that as well! I'm not sure!

  • Its called a hobby

  • no.

    its called an obsession

    at least they get payed

  • Its actually a job.

  • so its not a hobby anymore?

    but a job

    i see.

  • Its both.

  • and when they too old?

    they have no education

  • tutors...

  • I saw this on opening night and it was the best theatre experience of my life. Becuase it was their first time with the big audience, all the emotions were so high and so was the adreneline- so you can imagine that this part in particular was outstanding, it really hit you, I was in tears throughout the whole thing.

  • This was probably around 1 year in London. The angry dance has changed so much since then. So many things have been added to make it run more smoothly. All my 4 times I've seen Billy Elliot down here in Australia, I've always been looking forward to the Angry Dance. Such a show piece of angst and drama.

  • Hmmm, good.

  • The fact that the kid could move by the end of the show is a feat by itself. This show iw HARD for ANYONE, and they're got kids doing it!! *impressed to death*

Anyways, it's neat seeing a different version of it. This one had less other people in it than the one I show, but it's every bit as good.

Honestly, the first time I saw this dance, it scared me, which isn't a good thing to be expiriencing in the nosebleed section of the audience!

  • josh best angry dance

    or wait

    layton

    cant pick ;)

  • i think colin bates does the best angry dance

  • No sorry come see our Aussie Billys. They blow everyone away.

  • i loved this part it was one of my fave parts =)

both were amazing and I was moved to tears by each.

  • I became interested in musical theatre a year ago by that time Leon had allready left Billy Elliot. I admire him so much! All I have seen of him is whats on youtube but still its the most inspiring thing ever. Leon if you ever read this thankyou so much! It was you who inspired me to dance! Thanks for uploading this to. Leon's got talent I hope one day I will be able to dance like this :)

  • Does anyone know what the music for this is...Because i would like to use it in my A-level dance piece

    xxx

  • i saw billie elliot on saturday i knew it was gunna b good frm wot peeps have said but it was amazing

i didnt see leon i saw layton williams who was just as amazing but my friend saw leon and she said he was incredible :)

  • Seen This In London Was Amazing!! Best Show EVER!!!!

  • OK THATS IT.

First off, I'm an American. And I love America. Don't you DARE (any of you) say anything negative about this country. Secondly, I love Europe. I've been there twice and have only met genuinly good people. I think it's very immature of everyone involved in this argument, no matter which side you're on. There's a video above these hateful messages about a kid dancing his heart out. That's the great thing about musicals. They bring people around the world TOGETHER positively.

  • while I admire your viewpoint, and think positive thought is always best, there's something negative about every country, including America, and including every country in Europe. No country is perfect.

  • I agree with both of you, just both of u stop being assholes

  • What is he angry about?

  • He may not dance from his father

and that's why he is so angry

He is also angry or scared about the situation in his family, with the mine that is closing down...

    greetz

  • Dats was really gud. It lets out a lot of personal tension from within

  • I have seen this show 3 days ago

and I cried a lot with it

It is a show you must have seen

    It's so realistic

and that boy is 13 years old

the riverdance is nothing compared to this for me

    Great show!!!

  • Phantom or Billy? i am torn between the 2.........
