Actually, I think it looked like the storm we had in Perth a couple of weeks after... thankfully the huge hail here was pretty localised ( unfortunatley I was in one of those localities) It's great conversation fodder. In both storms though, I noticed that some places got the ridiculous winds and others didn't.... strange.

i was on the Monash Freeway (South Eastern Arterial) during this storm heading from Cranbourne to Werribee, i passed no less than 8 cars on that stretch that lost windscreens, and those are jsut the ones i was game enough to take my eyes off the road for more than 5 seconds to look at.

The Sydney hailstorm of about 1997 was even worse, it smashed the house roof tiles and car windscreens of the entire path of the storm while it was on land. The sound as the storm approached, of tonnes of hail hitting thousands of rooves, was amazing. Took ages to for the suburbs to recover. Not to be disparaging to this storm which was pretty intense and en expensive experience for everyone under it!
