Don't have a trike yet, but with a big help of your video's, my wife and I are planning on both getting one and take weekend (and sometimes longer) to some of these rail trails across the country. We have a few here around as well (Tulsa, OK area), so we'll get familiar with them here before loading them up in the mini-van for trips. Haven't seen any new video's OhioRailTrails, are you two still riding?
What a wonderful video...one of my favs. I dream of putting my wife on my GS GT1 and getting a GT3 for myself to ride our Central Florida trails. So I watch your video from time to time to keep the dream alive! :-)
How did you video the scenes? Holding a camera, or by means of fastening a video camera, and if so, can you tell me how and where you fastened it? Trying right now of setting up something on my Terratrike Cruiser, and need suggestions.
Thanks for your interest. I use a hand holdable type (Sony HX1) and with my elbow bent it helps absorb most of the shocks, (as does a wide angle setting). The trike is a perfect rolling video camera platform and the rail trails reduce the danger of videotaping the ride. Also I try not to videotape people approaching me.
im really intrested in getting one of these but they look soo much slower than an upright, i was just wondering what sort of distance u can cover in a day? thanks
@mattyb1500 Thank you for your interest and your viewership. We typically ride 24 to 40 miles each ride - averaging about 12.5 mph. We ONLY ride on rail/trails for safety sake because the trikes are so low.
Since we are not so young anymore, my main consideration is comfort & safety - and these trikes are tops in both respects. Nearly impossible to fall off, and no matter where we go we have a recliner with us.
I have seen younger people ride these somewhat faster than we do.
Enjoyed it very much; this is more than enough to decide to purchase a trike. Already researching trails in the mainland U.S. Unfortunately, takes some work to get people to see a need in the islands even for bike paths. Great video.
@Trekkerjon - I'm sorry for taking so long to answer your question, but if you are still interested the second scene with the tunnels is on the T.J. Evans Trail not far from the Y.M.C.A. in Newark where I usually begin my ride of this trail.
Just keep your eye on Bentrideronlinedotcom and click on Trike. We should have a ride coming up in the beginning of June and another in October. Just do a search for Xenia Groupe Ride on that site. I'll go there and update it myself now.
I also ride a Trice QNT, they are fun trikes to tour with. I weigh 260lbs and carry about 30 pounds of grear with my QNT. I'm in the Dayton area keep your eye on bentrideronline for group rides at Xenia station.
Thanks for viewing my video. I am interested in the recumbent group rides at Xenia station. I checked out the bentrideronline site but could find no reference to the rides you cite. You are the 2nd person to bring these recumbent rides out of Xenia to my attention. I live in Mansfield, OH and would LOVE to participate. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Our trikes are the Trice Qnt models. they are quick and nimble and provide a very smooth, comfortable ride. We haven't ridden more than 40 miles in a day but have never experienced any neck strain.
As to your question bout the narrow track, I like the ability to get the trike through tight bollards and the ease of hauling 2 of them in an Astro van without folding them up.
As I tell jjerie, i have another request of your next video. Although you must have thought of this, but could we have a head shot of the trikes, and even a some footage before you begin your ride. A litte voice audio, as the comments above suggest, to me, would tell your viewers about the trikes, and where the rail trail is located. Just my thoughts.
Thanks, Rick, for sharing. As the first writer says: the nicest video for trikes; however, must add, the front-rider does give your video "stype" as the tour riders say: "Tailwinds"
