  • Mean teenagers, playing tricks on a blind robot.

  • OH CRAP! first was BigDog, now this!

what's going next? Peace Walker? Metal Gear REX?

  • that's what you get for not integrating a proper shock absorbsion system into this robot. What do you think was gonna happen? I've used mountain bikes that has better shock absorbtion systems than that! I love the acutator technique you are using. Maby if you combine the actuator technology behind these legs with a supension system built into a robot equivilant of fleet, knees, ankles and hips it won't break so easily when it stumbles. if it works for the human body it should work for this. ;)

  • I liked it until I saw the yellow M. GO BUCKEYES. Yeah I know we suck this year but we will still run over Ann Arbor :-D

  • Didn't these guys learn anything from the 'Galactica' thing - these things are gonna eventually kill us!!!

  • you got it wrong, its a new energy source. like horses in the old days. now we have robots running around in a circle to create infinite energy.

  • Ummm.... is it just me or is the robot being both supported AND propelled by the giant rotating arm? I realize that the movement and compensatory action of the legs is rather impressive, but this thing is no where even close to walking on its own.

  • @ElevenDestinys exactly. waste of time and money. simple systems like that should be tested on smaller scale.

  • Открытый перелом!

  • OWNED!

  • "The cylons were created by

    man....." :P

  • ...and before you know it they'll be travelling back in time to kill Sarah Connor. Nice job science nerds! You've doomed us all!!!

  • This is less impressive than Big Dog

  • LOL ... the noise of the robots steps is enough to scare anyone!!!

  • hahah,,wow,, thats amazing!!

  • Id bash that things brains out with a fucking louisville slugga!!!

  • @btharealest it doesnt have a brain lol

  • Honda pulled this off years ago. Those little springs on the foot was the only spot that could absorb the impact. Not suprised the leg broke. How much weight is the unit?

  • OMG i love robots fucking up hahaha!!!

  • one leg breaks and it goes flat line.

  • I laugh so hard at 1:20

  • Well ironman fell apart

  • pwnd

  • Fail?

  • the leg parts are made in china

  • she broke her leg

  • why don't you release it from that boom that is holding it upright? it's not convincing that the robot can walk without support

  • A-maize-ing! Go Blue!

  • cool!

  • I like your clips, please upload them more often, I can't wait to see you guys' progress.

  • hurt

  • Anyone else getting

    Silent Hill 2 flashbacks?

  • It looks like a hand walking on two fingers.

  • The classic nerds - build fancy robots that probably cost thousands of dollars, but can´t come up with anything else than the cheapest, slippery wooden boards as testing surfaces. Are you testing if your robot can WALK or are you testing if it is stupid enough to walk on the grounds you prepared for it? LOL

  • Poor MABEL

  • - the robot's "feet" slip quite often when it walks even normally

    - possibly implement an "ankle"

    - pay more attention to size you cut the boards, it seems like the robot is stepping to close to the edges and it makes it harder for it to initially clear the next board

    - robot took that fall height successfully but I believe the part was partly fractured from a previous trip and it just happened to break there. the last step was correct it was just that the piece couldn't hold the wait.

  • Very nice, but stop using Comic Sans.

  • I like it. I feel bad that I laughed so hard when the leg broke.

  • @OShit sure it does!

  • Some fishnet stockings and I'd date it.

  • 1:54 #FAIL #LOL

  • @JaffakriSG1 #LOL

  • 1.57 "Shit..."

  • Somewhere within Southern California, SkyNet is not amused.

  • The robot while walking over the wood:

    "Not sure if want"

  • who fu*k gave this a bad rating?

you guys are ahead of all the others

  • was that bar supposed to hold the robot?

  • shhhh, it might know where putting stuff on the ground....

  • I'd be too embarassed to post this! But I think it's cool what you guys are trying to do. Can't wait to have my own robot but I'm sure I will be like 70 before we can get one right??

  • it has a pole stuck to it ofc it doesnt fall :S

  • this must be a hammer design

  • Why are people still making these robot with such old and inferior designs? It's like we're stuck in the 90s.

  • @jiberish001

I went to your youtube page, hoping I would find some innovative and superior designs for bi-pedal robots. But I was ultimately let down and disappointed when I realised you had no content to show.

  • @Paperstar

The "Let's see you do it." defence is childish, and I expected it to happen, with Youtube being full of children, it's alittle sad though that it came from a 24 year old.

  • @jiberish001

What else did you possibly expect? Age is completely irrelevant with the fact that you're putting down the video in a non-constructive manner. Perhaps it was childish of me to be sarcastic with you, that I'll agree on.

  • This is definitely the robot version of that guy who yells "MY LEG!!" in Spongebob.

  • fail

  • the robot needs some feet.

  • This is awesome! Keep up the good work here. Poor Mr. Robot needs eyes :(

  • this is what the robot said after the last one, "my Fucking FOOT!!!

  • those wooden risers were the highlight of the video for me.

  • Did he died?

  • WALK FAIL.

  • i felt kinda bad for it when it broke it's leg

  • that harness thing is way too rigid, you could see the stress on the robots legs as he went uphill

  • now lets see it walk to the kitchen and make me a sandwich

  • Awesome technology, shame that it can't be airborne. Should be made so that it only takes its next step when it KNOWS there's ground where it's walking.

It may be able to sense changes, but don't make it so that it thinks a small sheet of plywood will always be there. :)

  • Fail! it's leg broke at the end. stupid robot.

  • Every piece of equipment you are looking at was already pre manufactured by someone other than the people responsible for this video. You are not watching anything new at all. There is no new discovery to see here. This video is fraudulent. Every acuator, every motor and every strand of wire was made by someone else.

  • the leg broke =(

  • Comment removed

  • there goes his career! broke his knee!

  • @painmaker300 Yes, thank you. Unfortunately, the majority of the YouTube population is used to seeing special effects, and don't normally know much about real "robots".

    This robot is really awesome.

  • oo poor thing

  • that isn't rough ground

  • You connected a hunk of metal, wires, and probably a 10 million dollar grant from a pole and spun it in a cirle around the pole. The people that funded your multi million dollar adventure into fraud should be shot.

  • not really that impressive. its connected to a pole in the middle of the room.

  • I think the robot forgot to put on his sneakers

  • I,Robot

  • Dwight Schrute was right all along. Robots will enslave us all......wait nevermind.

  • Oh wow.. That was actually quite shocking for me.

  • lol!

  • I am Ironman.

  • What is it with people going all philosophical on this? It's just a mechanics test. This will not only help with robots, new forms of gaining stability without the use of cameras can help in all sorts of ways, including construction.

I know some are just joking around, but to all those seriously contemplating the negative aspects of this, if any: Remove the stick from your rectums. See this for what it is: A simple test.

  • that thing looks awfully heavy for just walking

  • why dont you sick fucks put some shoes on thats fucking pos...

  • lol, hope he has health insurance

  • Honda??

  • He broke his fucking leg. This is the start of Sky Net!

  • - OMG MY LEGGGGGGG!!AAAAAAAA

    like a kids

  • FAIL

  • this is just an exercise.....

  • Amazing...is this similar at all to the small four legged version that can sense changes and stuff? I think I saw it on liveleak or youtube the other day.

  • it needs Female legs, or it won't work . . .

  • poor robot, lost his leg :/ fail

  • 1:24 thats kind of how i walk when i'm drunk...these robots are becoming to human like, or maybe just to drunk

  • Lost a leg in the experiment that always sucks :)

  • Michigan Engineering at its finest lol

  • hahahahaha! LOL!

  • the military will always use your hard work to kill people when they want land or oil or just to have a war , you people have always known this but its all about money , society takes a step back every-time your hard works leads to the killings of innocent people and this will only escalate as your robots get better , its a sad day because you don,t care

  • @WithoutDeviation Who gives a damned anymore. There's already too many people on this planet. inb4raeg

  • @WithoutDeviation Gee, thanks H.G Welles.

But seriously though, that's exactly what's going to happen, and Japan, the US, Korea, or whatever country has the best robots will be extremely luxurious and prosperous while others suffer until we lose control of the robots and go extinct.

  • @WithoutDeviation , chill dude. Some people like building robots its what they enjoy doing. Not everyone is trying to build terminators ok?

  • @WithoutDeviation Dude, wtf... you just watched terminator salvation didn't you. I don't think mr. clumsy-legs no face is going to kill you in your sleep anytime soon.

  • @WithoutDeviation

And I'm guessing you work for green peace? Or perhaps you work at a soup kitchen? Either way, I'm sure you get out in the world and make a profound impact on society...i mean aside from bitching on youtube and all, which by the way ain't changing shit bro.

And for the record, this robot can't even hardly walk, let alone kill people for their "land or oil". Jesus man, get a grip.

UMichigan-Congrats guys. Long way to go but keep up the hard work!

  • @WithoutDeviation Ignorant

  • @WithoutDeviation is it wrong to make advances in technology because someone might use it for something it wasnt intended for?

even if advances in robotics could save lives in disaster areas such as building collapses, saving lives without putting more people at risk.

or maybe a person whos lost their limbs, being able to give them the ability to be independent again.

i think its truely a sad day because you don't seem to care at all about what good it could do

  • @WithoutDeviation Robots killing people = bad | Robots killing robots = awesome

  • sarah connor would be disappointed.

  • Miles Bennett Dyson!

  • @coolerow we'll have to find the creator of this mechanical monstrosity and finish him.

  • @coolerow hah love the T2 reference

  • can it keep its balance without the beam?

  • @superdahoho yeah, but it will presumably just walk in a straight line.

  • @MarlonOwnsYourCake

oh anything that's capable of walking a straight line can walk in a circle, just have

one step go farther than the other

it's balance that i'm interested in. If it can balance then it does not need the beam at all. having the beam to force it go in a circle actually hinders the montion

  • LMAO i did not see the leg break thing comming at all

    LMAO

  • THERES AN IPAD GIVEAWAY ON MY CHANNEL

  • Now build an Iron Man!

  • poor guy broke his leg

  • now all they need is 2 machine guns at the top and this thing will be set for afganistan

  • EPIC fail hahaha

  • good thing human legs dont break that easily

  • Well at least Sarah Conner is happy.

  • @307604 har

  • Walk it off, buddy.

  • Oh snap! And it's beginning to look a lot like Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" video.

  • Well if he had some nice walking shoes then maybe he wouldn't have tripped!

  • It looked like it had a few too many drinks.

  • 2:08 Ouch...

  • so like us?

  • Boston dynamics DOG OWNS ALL!!!!!!

    It can walk over anything!!!!!!!!

  • 1 time i watched a old lady break her leg like that!!!!

  • @crowofdeath2

idk why that funny to me....

  • Comment removed

  • made in china: 2:06

  • anyone else lol when it broke and started dangling around on the wire?

  • where is the feets??

  • Comment removed

  • haha stupid robot. I can walk better than you.

  • I got all AWWWW when it broke D:

  • It's actually pretty amazing to see a robot make a very human gesture with it's stumbling action. Just watch the stumble again and you'll see it's human charateristics.

  • @lukeallyn

    true..and awfully creepy too

  • looks like something from silent hill lmao thats still awesome though

  • 1:20 LMFAO

  • seems kinda like that thing from mgs 4 but pretty cool

  • this might not look like much yet, but in a few more years, this work will benifit something much greater.

  • oh man im gonna have nightmares...that think scares the fuck outta me

  • good luck guys, break a leg!!!

  • I lol'ed so hard when it tripped. and then again when it broke its leg on the second trip around.

  • How is this relevant? Any Biped will fall if it has a huge boom attached to it - thats PUSHING IT FORWARD! Or are you testing something other than walking here?

  • some duct tape will do it

  • hahahaah cool and funny good job!

  • Sweet, when the terminator comes I'm just going to stack books in front of him _b

  • 1 step closer to making a mech lol

  • Kinda reminds me of Metal Gear.

  • I don't get it. There are far more advance robots out there from Honda and DARPA. This is something I expect High School kids to put together. What cutting edge tech are you guys showcasing here?

  • ahahahahahahaha i was gonna say that this isnt exaclty that "rough" cuz i would of liked some rocks or something, but dam....nice fall

  • what's the point of making something like this?

  • did the robot is dieded?

  • That looked painful!

  • Maybe a better suspension system to reduce forces on the legs when he has to go down so steep.

  • i wish i knew what was programmed in the previous gait, how do i find out!

  • broken ankle!!!

  • obstancles?

  • he die?

  • i love technology!

  • OUCH!

  • hahahahahahaha. It broke and died. great robot

  • stairs confuse legbot. legbot scared!

  • The robot ate shit

  • ahahaha its slips just like human, that will be cool once perfected!!

  • fail :p
