Cairo Dock sucks. It's really slow and buggy and after spending an hour with it, it still didn't feel right. I'm going back to AWN until Cairo gets a bit better.

Enable the render applet and this effect should show as a view.
is this Gnome-dock ? because the version in the current svn is from may..
