  • best sounding toms @ youtube

  • Wow!that snare is amazing ! how did you tuned it ?

  • @Blader123123

First, I tune bottom head. To me, it must be at very high tension. Later I can tune top head how I want to hear. You must listen, hear and catch tone differences between each tuning-bolt.

  • Everything about those drums sound AWESOME!!!! Very good recording especially for only onle mic. What mic and electronics are you using for the recording?

  • @Mjbabycakes7072; Thank you.

The mic was just a little PC mic (came with Dell Pc in 1999). And about record; The mic was positioned over my head. And I used Creative SB Live sound card. That's it.

  • @DevrimBabacan Well your room is amazing sounding. If the room sounds good you don't have to do much to capture the essence of the drums. Those drums are captured beautifully. Your drum sound is what I always wanted from day #1.

  • OMG I love YAMAHA!!!! I miss working on these drums........ the nicest kit I got to tour with from Yamaha was a prototype PHX Kit before they were released! it was like butter!

  • no they're not....thats his style

  • love your snare, 13x5 is magical, i also have one (pearl omar hakim sign.)

  • @blaucha58; Are you kiding? The drums is beautiful with its overtones. And this snare's overtones are not much that awful. I hate Moongel thing. But nowadays I use Remo's damper. It's cool.

  • @DevrimBabacan I think he's just annoyed as the access buzz

  • yes, well worth the listen.

  • pinoy ba

  • now, all you have to do is get a better camera :)

  • Drums sound great for the way they are miked ! Especially the low toms ! I have a maple custom in turquoise, but I always wanted the vintage ! DAMN !!!!

  • man...be happy for having a yamaha kit anyway..even gigmaker is better than my set...i have an granite set..what should i say???!!!???

  • rien a faire fuck put

    hhhhhhhhhhh

c bien mon amie je regole bravo

  • trampetine bayıldım cok guzel

  • Those toooms ! :D

  • GREAT KIT!

  • great kit....snare cranked a little too high, but sweet kit

  • nice!! :D

  • Nice solo!..and great sounding drums!

  • I don't like the snare;-)... but i like the toms a lot.

They have white coated batters? Or Pinstripe?

  • You don't like that snare? That's the snare sound I dream of!!!! Lol, it's funny how different each individual drummers tastes are.

I do agree with you though, the toms are some of the best drums out there right now.

  • @Fantasmo81 those are coated :)

  • @CDB1997 Aha ok, thank you... could not exactly see that. Thought it could also be Pinstripes under strange lightning conditions...

  • do any of you know where i can order yamaha's maple custom from?

  • I have a 3 piece shell kit I'm selling. It's 22 X 16, 12 X 9, and 14 X 12. Turquoise finish.

  • Hi. You should search for the nearest Yamaha dealer.

  • I'm looking into getting a new kit. Now Yamaha makes a kit called the "Tour Custom". It's an all maple shell, but at a really good price. Is their any drummers who have played this kit, has one, or may be able to give a review on them? I don't have many drum shops close to where I live, and finding a kit in the shop to demo would take a good day traveling.

  • I have the Yamaha Tour Customs and I find that they are awesome, I would give them 4* out of 5. the only thing thats wrong with them is that the hardware isn't great, but other than that they're awesome. so if ur thinking of buying them, buy them!

  • Ah ok thanks!

  • Ur Welcome!

  • 1st time i came across video without drums being miced and they sound VERY WELL!

  • Right. There is only one mini mic in this record. I used a mic-stand and located mic over my head.

  • how is the maple custom in comparison with the oak cutom?

  • I just got a Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute, same color as yours and it is the best kit u can probably get out of the maple professional kits out there. I tried DW, Pearl, Tama ect..... they did not match on the sound i needed. The low end you get from the floor is insane. 10 inch tom is perfect. Keep your kit forever.

  • cool. you show post more drumming vids

  • Hi. I'm planing a new video. But I think I play on an play-along music. When finished, I'll upload it. Thank You.

  • In this video, all "heads" are Remo Coated. 1-ply. May be, according to tunning, they sound like dark tone. Nowadays I use Remo clear (1-ply). And they sound more brighter. I like it.

  • Thanks so much Bagatarmalpa.

  • hey are these the regular maple customs or maple custom absolute noveau? Also what sizes are the drums they sound incredible.

  • Thank you Brian1545.

There are all infos at the beginning of the video actually.

It's not "Absoulte" serie. Just "Maple Custom" Drums.

    Toms: 10x7½", 12x8", 14x12" and 16x14". Kick: 22x16" and snare, 13x5"

  • ive always loved the sound of yamaha drums, and this isnt the exception, the only thing i didnt liked was the snare drum because it sounds tight as hell, but other than that the sound is amazing

  • Hi OutofNothing71.

You may be right about the snare sound.

Actually, my main snare is Yamaha Copper Snare 14x6½. And the maple snare in video is my side snare. So, I tunned it tight.

  • well, that actually explains it, for being a side snare sounds great, i want one like that, but for a main snare a dryer one would be pretty awesome for that amazing sounding drumset!

    well done with the tuning!

  • fuck!! those toms sound AMAZING!! the snare too

  • even with the horrible video quality, that kit sounds awesome!

even better than many well-mic'd HD drum vids on youtube.

  • that's true!.. incredible drums

  • Love your snare drum! Is it the maple one for the kit or is it something else?

  • Devrim abi Çok yaşaaaa:),

    [DA] fatboy dan selamlar :)

  • Jezus!! That is how a drumset should sound like. I like

  • Yes I finally got the maple. Best drums I've ever played on. I tried all brands like DW, Pearl, Ludwig,Gretch ect and still the maple sounds awesome. So easy to tune too. Keep ur drumkit 4 eva.

  • how much and where did you get it?

  • Nice sound... I have a set of Maple Customs as well. What type heads are you using on top? I like the depth & richness. I've been using Evans Clear G2's which I like a lot, but have been thinking of experimenting a bit. Best...

  • Thanks Hippydippy.

They're all Remo Coated. Bottoms're Remo clear.

  • sweet. sounds gooooood

  • Love the sound and colour. Is VN the colour?

  • ya vintage natural

  • like the snare!

  • esta bateria suena del carajo!!

  • Sounds like Pearl Reference series.

More comfortable mounting system, diamond tight shells, why buy Pearl when Yamaha has it all covered?

  • Why would someone compare pearl to yamaha? There both quality drums.

  • i think it sounds even better then pearl reference

  • Is the snare a maple custom too? I have a maple custom snare and I hate the thing!

  • NA it's a Dave Weckl snare.

  • Oh yeah.. just noticed that now!

  • they are in the begginning of the video

  • please how much did it cost!?

    the toms are amazing

  • those are beautiful sounding drums man! really good playing too.

  • Amazing sound. I love Yamaha. :)

  • have you ever noticed yamaha makes the highest quality instruments in any class? they have best drums, pianos, recording equipment, guitars, and orchestra stuff. not the cheapest though :)

  • The 10" tom sounds incredible. SO does the rest of the kit. Keep your drumkit forever.

  • This is my favorite drum kit of all time.

    How much did it cost?

  • omg. it sounds sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good.

  • hi, i have the same set you do,maple custom absolut, you have tuned your toms fantastic, iam a pro drummer but iam having a hard time getting them to sound right, spec the lenght of the tone, any tips??? thanx!!!

  • If you want your kit to sound its absolute potential, you need to loosen the heads right down to wrinkle point, then tap the shell, find out exactly what pitch it is (e.g. A minor, B) then tune both heads to that pitch. If your lazy, like me, just tune your lowest tom as low as possible then tune the rest of the toms a third above each other respectively.

  • Great kit! I have the toms already and still waiting for the bass drum. After seeing this video I can't wait anymore :)

You have a nice groove by the way.

  • Hi!

That's a really nice kit! I particulary appreciate your chinese, what is it?

    Thanks

  • Thanks man.

Actually, there was no any china cymbal in this video.

You hear the cymbals are Sabian HHX 16" Extreme Crash (at 0:26 & 1:27) and Sabian HHX 18" Extreme Crash (at 0:49).

    See you...

  • very nice!

  • your drumset sounds very good!!! actually i a like your splashes, what models do you used in this video?

  • Hi Batakoer. Thanks a lot.

If I'm not worng, there're 3 splashes in this video. Sabian 10"AAX, Sabian 7"Max(Vault) and Zildjian 6" A Custom; not shown in video. It's above 16" crash.

  • What mics did you use? Dave W snare sounds sic!!!

  • Hi. I didn't use any special mic. It's just DELL pc's microphone. It's located over my head. That's it.

  • hahaha wow that sounds so good!

  • excellent sounding drums as well as play/yamaha is my favorite/ I use yamaha oak customs

  • Yamaha Maple are Awesome drumkits. I just love the tone. I want to get a Yamaha Maple Absolute. But i also love the sound of a vintage.

  • Awesome set man...Dave Weckl was telling me once that the Maple Customs with the Vintage finish sound different, not only because of the shell, but part of it is because of the vintage finish...makes sence to me now.drums this good are worth the wait :) I waited 7 months for my Oak Customs (with the natural oak finish that they no longer make) but it was so worth it. I love my set.

  • You're right man...

    Thank you.

  • yeah...nice solo and your drum set sounds EXCELLENT

  • what kind of heads are those?

  • Sorry Martion for late answer.

In this record, there was all Remo Coated Heads on drums. But today I completely use Remo Clear Heads...

  • I have the same kit / setup and yes they are amazing. Take note these are the "Maple Customs"- NOT the "Maple Custom Absolutes" or Nouveau drums. These have much thicker shells and sound quite different. Nice playing and tuning btw.

  • best tom sound ever, exactly how it's supposed to ring! can't wait untill i get my maple custom absolute nouveau 10"+14" toms...it's so long ago i ordered them :)

keep your set forever dude! ;)

  • Thank you so much Woddenstixman. I hope You'll be so glad to play Maple. And yes, it took 8 months to complete all set.

    Take care...

  • I really want a maple.

  • elinize sağlık hocam :)

  • great job indeed.i was wondering if you could give some tips regarding tuning.

    cheers

  • Hi and thank you (And thank you all guys)...

First, the notes are in my mind. For ex: 10"tom = F.

I tune bottom nearly F (it may be Eb or E). Then, I tune top-head exactly F. If top-head is'nt well strecthed, I loose bottom and tight top. This way you can get good stability and balance of heads. And you can get more sustain and resonance.

    Sorry for my english. :)

  • Could you also tell the note for the 14" tom?

Can't figure it out very well. ;)

And do you tune the 14" the same like the 10" as descripted (Bottom slightly lower than Top)?

    Thx!

  • Yes, same technique. And I think 14" tom is F, too. Mostly, unintentionally, 14" tom and 10" tom are the same note. But -of course- there is 1 octave difference...

Somebody consider that 14" tom is like a 'floortom'. I don't think that. So, I don't tune it that low...

  • Perfect sounding set! Great job on the tuning.

  • Tam olarak istediğim tonlar bunlar yavv.. Bi gün sahibi olmak dileğiyle şimdilik izliyoruzz..

  • tasty

  • good tom tuning man. you have to love the maple custom.

  • I think it's funny this guy says "I'm not virtuoso" but yet he plays WAY BETTER than a lot of people posting videos here, good job man!

  • vayyy!..Devrim hocam yamahayı inletmişsiniz yine...elinize sağlık.

  • Beautiful sound! Only a Maple Custom could sound like that. By the way, what kind of heads do you use?

  • Thank You GiovanniAy. And I'm certainly agree with you about the sound of Maple Custom.

Remo Coated heads on kick, snare and all toms (+ Remo Clear Ambassador, bottom).

  • They're all Coated heads.

  • man, those sound really good, you should do a studio recording!

  • Thanks Amishrockstar. If I will, upload the record on YouTube. Thank You.

  • the sonor s classix series can suck on my dick yamaha is the best brand out there you cannot go wrong i got a absolute maple custom nouvea and it is truely the best kit in the world in my opinion but they are pricely , luckly i got my kit for about half price because it was used for a demo by some pro once for an hour :)

  • how much did that cost man. I might be looking into getting a 5-piece of the same kit. Also, does it come with hardware?

  • Sorry Phatphace, I can't tell about price. Because Turkey prices may be different. And it doesn't come with hardware. But I've already got stands etc. I've just brought tom holders.

  • cool

  • excelente sonido el de la bata.....!!!!!

  • Sounds Amazing!!!!The Snare is great!!!!!

  • sounds amazing

  • What is your snare???

  • It's Dave Weckl signature 13x5" Maple Snare.

It has double strainer. Great snare...

  • in my humble opinion...i think these recording customs are the best out there, for the money you can't beat 'em.

  • These drums aren't recording customs. They are Maple Custom

  • The Sonor s classix series is better. Pricewise, i'm not too sure though

  • the snare sounds like the snares are off and are those sabian cymbals becuase they sound tinny get zildian kustom or sabian hh,hhx

  • I don't know what bad speaker and/or soundcard you are listening to this video through, but I hear the snares just fine, this is what you would call a very "open" drum.

Also, I love how you contradict yourself nicely. You ask if they are Sabian because they sound tinny, then you proceed to tell him to get Zildjian...oh oh oh wait for it...AND Sabian.

I really don't think you have a f*cking clue what you are talking about.

  • indeed, I can blatently hear an A custom splash! This drummer has great control and his kit has a beautiful resonance - the toms are very nice sounding to me.. A well executed solo that kept me wanting more.

Thank you for posting this DevrimBabacan!

  • Hi guys.

    Yes Barn1UK. You're right; it's a Zildjian 6" A-Custom Splash.

And really thank You for your kind words. Actually, I've been composing some musics. Just like, "Play Along", You know. I'll make a video with these songs and upload here.

    Thank You. Take care yourself...

  • Hi Smirnofangel.

I don't like adjust snares very firmly. The strainer is on but it's slightly free. Actually it can be heard when I play tremelo... Whatever...

I don't think that Sabians sound tinny. In this video, the first crash-cymbal I hit (0':25") is Zildjian 16" A-Custom Crash. Later, Sabian 16" HHXTreme Crash and again Zildjian.

And, the reason of tinny sound may be my technique or playing style, etc... I think You should not accuse the cymbals.

    Thank You.

  • Are those Coated Emperors or Ambassadors on the tops of the toms?

  • No. I never use Emperor.

These are all Coated Ambassador (top) and Clear Ambassador (bottom).

  • If you're not virtuoso, why the hell do you have virtuoso drums??

  • :) Thank You Bobnar42. But in my opinion, that's a wrong thinking... I desire the best sound. Other way, as a Yamaha fan, I got top model of Yamaha.

Actually, I may not able to explain all of my thoughts due to lack of my English. Sorry...

  • Ellerine sağlı Devrim abi :)

    chagyy...

  • Tesekkurler Groovistt. Bastan dinlersek sirayla: (00:21) Sabian 10" AAX Splash, (00:23) Sabian 7" Sign. Max Splash & (00:27 ve 01:09) Zildjian 6" A Custom Splash.

  • Trampet çok hoş geliyor.Pc mikrofonuna rağmen cok güzel bir kayıt olmuş.

  • Sagol Jetziki. Yamaha 13x5" Maple trampet kendileri; Dave Weckl imzali seri. Siddetle tavsiye ederim.

  • Yes, You're right but You know, actually this video doesn't show my ability. It just aims to show the sound quality of Maple Custom. The video has low bit-rate though...

  • drums sound great, n you humble... keep it up

  • Thanks guys. Ciminoo, try this link another a Maple Custom drumset: watch?v=uIFaM6I3tWQ

Uqizone: Teşekkürler. Pc mikrofonuna rağmen kötü bir kayıt olmadı sanırım.
