  • CONT.- roths or eddies guitar or alex s drums! just my op.

  • there HAS TO BE AT LEAST ONE PUNK ASSED PRIMA DONNA IN THIS GROUP THAT JUST CANT GET F...in along with others , NEVER original line up ,!

Thers something this band reminds me of,

IF you work FOR someone long enough, youll be around long enough for THE BOSSES SON WHO DOSENT KNOW SHIT to come on the job one morning AND START TELIING YOU WHAT TO DO right?

Just cant help thinking of that.

BESIDES MICHEALS BACKGROUND VOCALS BEING MISSING ! his vocals are as much of the sound of this group as

    dav

  • Rock bands the Foo Fighters and Van Halen proved one thing, IF YOU HAVE A POPULAR SONG CALLED DOA YOU BETTER BE TRUELY EPIC LIKE THEM!!!!!!! OR ELSE YOU SOME CRAPPY BAND COVERING DOA BY EITHER VAN HALEN OR FOO FIGHTERS!!!

  • The best classic rock band , and my favorite, there is nothing like this band!!!!

  • this song still makes me ready for summer!timb

  • Dude!

I crap my pants even before the solo!

  • guitar sounds like nirvana a little bit ...except the shredding

  • i wipe my ass with rolling stone

  • @ 1:58 to 2:28 Is a Great Pic of the Tour I saw in 1978.

    Fans were 'BLOWED AWAY!'

I saw them (Van Halen) again in 1979 and heard D.O.A.

In 1978 I heard the first Album x-cept for Lil Dreamer and I cant remember for, but I'm pretty Positive they didnt play Ice Cream Man.

Great Show tho, never the less.

  • @neano62 i saw the 1978 and 1979 world tours also. and yes they did do ice cream man on there 1978 tour.

  • this is hands down my favorite Van Halen song period I was listening to this stuff while all the other kids in my high school years were listening to fall out boy bullshit and rap music and to Justin Bieber I say this FUCK YOU YOUR MUSIC SUCKS AIDS DICK

  • Picture with Black Sabbath kicks ass

  • 3:30 speed metal

  • Hail to the King! The fucking intensity , Attack and tone that Edward had back then was out of this world.. God damn he was something else.

  • Going to my Van Halen play list. AWESOME!!

  • Micheal Anthony Man toe YES!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nugent was on stern and ted said when he heard this guitarist going off....he said, What the hell is that"..."its killer shit" he said.....it was Eddie and Halen, his opening band.

  • I was a 13 year old Canadian, "Base Brat", living in West Germany when VH's first album was released! Grew uplistening to these guy's in my teen years. Never saw them live but I did meet them at McDonald's in Fredericton , N.B., Canada! I wanted to say to all the negative posting I've read on all the various Van Halen videos! Wasn't it just great that these guys made some albums to enjoy a unique sound and a different look during those years!? After they are gone, that will be their legacy!

  • HEAVY FUCKIN METAL FROM BEING

  • Funny, classic Dave. He can't remember any of the lyrics. The rock mumble king! HA.

  • michael anthony looks like a total tool

  • When I first heard Van Halen back in 1979, I could not believe what I was hearing. He re-invented Rock n Roll guitar, period.

  • Incredibly hot shit. THIS kind of creative fury is what made Edward a legend.

  • Great version, but i still like the take on "young and wild" better.

  • Man Dave is one ugly dude in that opening photo!

  • @harryfromwork I'd bet my life that the vast majority of girls from back then would disagree.

  • @zackvanhalen Agreed. Hell I know some chicks now that would disagree.

  • @harryfromwork what kind of straight guy is thinking about a guys looks when he hears Van Halen?..

Be proud...come out of the closet Mary!

  • @harryfromwork Yeah, but he probably laid more pipe then we can all imagine.

  • LOVE that picture with Sabbath!

  • @Guitfiddlejase me too

  • HFS!!! Where was this recorded ???- totally blew me away - better than any of the more recent live stuff (no offence given) posted from the 07/08 tour...... the pix are excellent too....ta muchly!!!!

  • Michael Anthony invented the male camel toe

  • They really aren't the same without Michael Anthony's soaring harmonies. Back in the late 70's early 80's Van Halen was the greatest band on the planet.

  • MAN!!!!!! Excellent post, his tone was absolutely mind numbing back then. What boot is this? The only 70's boot i have is Nightmare which i also love.

    Thanks for posting this man.

  • Mr. ZackVanHalen...You are ABSOLUTELY correct...THE BEST version I've heard yet. Edward Van Halen's Intra Verse Solos as well as the Main 1st and 2nd Lead Solos are Incendiary...WHITE HOT!!! Throwin' the Whole Bag O' Tricks in this whole tune. The Aggressiveness of the Lead Guitar is Staggering as well as the "End of the Tune". Please do Point Out the "Best Of" Van Halen Live Audio Selections...I would love to hear what else you have identified as "The Best"!!!

  • man Eddie was on fire in this era.

  • Wow this song has alot of energy live, guess that's why it's called dead or aLIVE

  • ...:35..M.A. moose knuck...

  • It's Black Sabbath at 2:00 haha!

  • hahaha ... what a roller coaster ride! they start out as fast as possible and then they just gradually increase!!!

    great images and editing!

  • they were playing alot of songs in their albums before they recorded any of them, i heard them play I'm the one in 1976

  • VAN FUCKING HALEN!!

  • One of rock'n'roll's greatest success stories. How charmed they were.

  • That was killer, what an ending!!! Ok now I want my new pants...

  • I'd hate to smell David Lee Roth's finger around this era and I bet he would vouch for me!!

  • i have this on record i bought at a flea market...dave says on ice cream man...i can't play this thing man... it's just songs from VH one and two, live in pasedena

  • The best way to download this as an mp3 is on that site mp3iiify. Awesome site. GOOGLE mp3iiify

  • Great Pic of The Mighty Van Halen and Black Sabbath in the video!... I saw that tour in Cincy back in the day... They opened for Sabbath, and BLEW them OFF the STAGE!

  • This is Van Halen at the Hammersmith Odeon June 10, 1978 - London, England.

  • Well I have a new nickname in school: Skullface.

Because my fucking face melted off after listening to this.

  • Wow this is back when Roth really tried to sing live. Great performance!

  • song came out in 1979

  • Yeah, but they were playing it before then. They were doing this in 1977.

  • @1984rockcity most of all the songs that are on there albums they were playing in clubs three or more years before the album

  • @1984rockcity They had a demo version of this song back in '76 or '77...

  • @1984rockcity somewhere on yt they have like 7parts to the "early" vh years..............they had written and were playing House of Pain(1984 album) before they were signed!

  • @SDfreakazoid It wasn't the same version that was on 1984. It featured some of the same riffs though.

  • I jizzed at the end......SORRY......these guys were just too awesome not to jizz yourself all sticky.

  • i do not jizz for guys...100% straight...i will jizz for nadine velasquez( my name is earl)..

  • I poped early and now I have that guilty feeling hehe.

  • haha eds guitar when way out of tune. i feel his pain... it sucks when it happens right in the middle of the song.. somehow he still managed to sound really good. i guess thats just because hes the greatest guitarist ever

  • i jizzed

  • Pound for pound, Ed was the best there ever was...

  • @blndrckr Key word WAS!!!

  • I'm jizznn by 40 sec...LOL

  • Brilliant epic god like.

  • I did jizz my pants...and I do blame you. Completely.

  • No way has there ever been a band that looked and sounded as cool as these cats! I've never seen a group who loved to perform more than the MIGHTY VH!!!!!

  • dick

  • Outstanding. One of my 2 or 3 favorite VH songs, and it KICKED ASS. Nice work.

  • at 1:58 you can hear the tricks he uses to bring his guitar back in tune before the floyd rose was made

  • Yeah bending the shit out of the B and G strings is a must if you use a non locking trem!

  • I jizzed in my pants and you WILL be held responsible.

  • At :33 seconds we are graced with the GREATEST MOOSEKNUCKLE KNOWN TO MAN!" #1 MIchael Anthony, #2 Steven Seagal in Hard To Kill..... And this absolutely kicks Ass!!!!

  • That's a genius statement; I love it! Dude, you need your own show. Move over Eddie Trunk; here comes dgdgdg100172!

  • WHAT SHOW IS THIS FROM?

  • London

  • that f'n wave effect is awesome sir

  • Thank you

  • Evil Ed

  • love it

  • GREATEST GUITAR RIFF EVER........

  • Gee, do you think there was any substance abuse

    on this tour? Na

  • AWESOME, love the spaceship lick at 2:57. What a killer power tube tone.

  • One of my favorite Van Halen songs ever. Thank you for the post. Eddie is a monster on the strings and Diamond David is classic. Nothing better in the world!

  • ahh i love the pic with sabbath and van halen. i heard they opened for sabbath back in the day and totaly blew them off the stage which is not suprising despite the monster gods that sabbath are

  • Zack is this the same boot Texas? This is so KILLER!!!

  • No, this is from London.

  • 3 words.

    Holy Fucking Shit.

  • Ha!

  • Yeah, I can't help but believe that D.O.A., Light Up the Sky, On Fire and a few other early classic Halen tunes had an influence on the Metallica guys as they thrashed about trying to find their sound. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

  • lol...dave kinda looks like the singer from whitesnake in that first picture!
