@MikeDeMessi no but is makes server browsing/joining much easier. Without this you have to first find servers on google and then manually input ips into the console command assuming you don't have a working key.

@tarkan9000 You don't need the DVD to play multiplayer. Instead, find CoD4 mp icon in the game folder and copy it to your desktop. If you launch the game with that then it will not ask you to insert the disk in the drive to play MP.

@TheRenegade217 Well same thing happend to me with single player, it's requesting a CD all of a sudden when it didn't before, anyway try downloading it from torrentz (search "Call of duty 4 rip" and click the first match) then install the patches again and hopefuly it should work.
