You are my hero...when I first searched for this on YouTube (a few years ago) all I could find was the later theme. I always preferred this one, and it's just as good as I remember it...THANK YOU!
I I watch this show when I was about 9 or 10 during the mid 70's. watching that video of the opeing then song brought back so many memories of my childhood. I watched on saturday afternoons on the local PBS station if my memory servers me correctly. The them song is so beuitful, I was overcome with emotion when I saw the opening for the first time in years. thanks for this the work speaks.
Many many years ago commercial television saw the vision for a brief moment, of how television as a media could gap social and religious differences of people from all over the world. Corporate ceo's didn't place a huge emphasis on profit but rather the outcome of how young children view themselves and the different people they share the planet with. As a young man I remember how "Big Blue Marble" took us via our tv sets all around the world and showed us we didn't have to be afraid of it.
Wow! At last! At long last! Someone finally posted the original theme! I was beginning to think I imagined the whole thing. You have succeeded in making a sad guy happy again. I loved my youth. God Bless you TheWorkSpeak. You are a good person for sharing.
What a great post. This version (with earlier theme song) is the one that many- including myself - remember...it would probably never have surfaced if you hadn't trasferred it, so thanks very much for your efforts.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I cried like a baby watching it... This was my favorite show! I watched it in Spanish. Can't find the Spanish opening anywhere. Since you worked on so many episodes I must ask - Do you have more videos?
Este tipo de programas ha de ver sido una gran motivacion en la infancia de los ahora adultos, de conocer diferentes paises, personas, idiomas, etc., que buen programa, deberia de haber mas como este en la tv de hoy.
Fantastic. I had this version on LP when I was a kid. I really wish some enterprising company would release all of these on DVD, along with other lost shows of the era like Villa Alegre.
@TheWorkSpeaks - I remember watching this a lot in the 1970's, and, what a wonderful and informative show it was/is! I cannot understand why shows like this aren't aired today, even though things have changed over the years. It's still a great show for learning children! :)
@TheWorkSpeaks Glad to know someone behind this. I wasn't even born when it first aired myself, though it ended before I even had a chance to notice it was around. Would be nice if it ever gets aired again, released on DVD or through some on-demand/streaming site.
Thank you! I loved this show when I was a kid. Been feeling very nostalgic lately and this was a real treat! Where on earth did you get this recording?? (no pun intended LOL)
Thank you ... I use to watch this show when I was a kid, in its Spanish translation (for which I am looking the opening theme out there). It is very emotional to me now to recognize that I can understand some of the languages in which the kids greet the viewers, as I can speak many of them thanks to the impact of this show in my life.
if i remember, some of the clips was from that episode that aired. you remember what all was on this episode? i always thought there was more than what was listed from the old CF international site.

Thank you for bringing this on to YouTube! Is there a BBM Page on Facebook? How about a Dear PenPal YouTube conference?

I worked on the first 76 shows of the series, so I have a few old 3/4" copies of them that I digitized. Thanks for supporting the show!
