@Mrphatbastard1 Usually the distortion comes from the recording equipment. These are probably being driven at quite rate. A rate which is acceptable for the system and listener, but un suitable for the mic built into whatever this person is recording on

I have some old 1973 Magnvox Speakers, 10 inch old style, acordian surrounds made of some kind of fiber,Alnico driven Woofers with huge metal Horn Tweeter/Mids. They get wicked sounding bass from a 50 per channel receiver I own.

Old speakers are better made and more efficient than what's churned out today.

@ArmorDog1 really? ya its lame, because these are hi-eff speakres and they are being used for bass, they still work today you meat head, nothing is wrong with them, and they arnt even being amplified, just an old reciever..for the record, yes i do know about audio, its one of my biggest hobbies, and these things are old anyway so we figured we would see what they can do

When it comes to house speakers the old ones are best.I got some old jbl 15s in verry nice boxes from the salvation army not too long ago...paid 2 bucks for them.

@henrylovesweed true, Old speakers are best, I got a pair of 15" 3 way speaker sub (sony) and a pair of 12" 2 way speaker sub (pioneer) and sound better then the $500 Surround sound my uncle bought for his house, and mine are WAY louder and Bump harder too.

Quite honestly, i am impressed by the performance of these speakers, considering there age... but newer systems are much better, by far. These sound great, n are really loud, and nausiating.. lol, but ive got a "newer system" n if i compared them, it wouldnt be questional. Im talking bass only. but these things do pound hard for 20 yr old subs.. lol

my grandparents have one of those tower speakers. they have amazing low frequency response :D

the thing is a sony tower speaker and it's got 2 twetters, a 12" woofer for mid tones and a 12" subwoofer

No one can knock a good vintage speaker.

A vintage console stereo that belonged to my grandmother had 12" woofers and they sounded great! When that stereo went bad and I replaced it with a Panasonic stereo with twin 8" sub woofers in the cases it didn't compare. It sounded good. But not great.

Wonderful,thank you for this video! I totally love high efficency,oldschool Speakers. My favorite example for most speakers which are manufactured for the consumer marked today is the MTX Jackhammer speaker. Huge ,heavy membrane,long excursion , insane power handling , but only about 88 db efficeny,means 128db max.

A 89$ 15" Pa woofer : low excursion , low power handling ,but 99db efficency , means 129db max,while using 1/6th of the amp power and at 1/10th the price.
