I remember when they released two different covers for this album. One of them with make-up and one of them without it. Always loved this song as well as "I Love It Loud." These guys are the reason I decided to take up the guitar.
@scott10221969 thats why hes in jail right now sure no dought hes a good guitar player i liked his solos but he wasnt in the band for a very long time so that tells you the rest of kiss didnt like him
Creatures of the Night is amazing, KISS is amazing, the sound guitars, the drums and the voice Paul are the very best ! this is one of the biggest songs in the music world ... I am going to love to KISS FOREVER
@wickedcurve Nooooooo, that's Ace. We KISS fans know Ace's looks enough to know the difference. Ace did the European promotion appearances as a favor to Gene and Paul. Vinnie "Weirdo" Vincent played on the Creatures album but he didn't get revealed until Ace was completely sure he was done with KISS.
@arridianfilms It's because he was already out of the band, He was just doing them a favor sticking around for the sake of appeasing the record label.
@CarlettoPuglia - From the standpoint of being able to shred a million notes a second, yeah, you're right, Vinnie Vincent was probably the best at that. But he just never sold any soul or feeling - not even a little bit. As a technician he was amazing, but he seriously lacked inspiration, and from what I understand he's an extremely toxic personality. I've always thought Kulick was the most rounded player in Kiss that had the most to offer from all attributes. Of Course I'll always love Ace too.
@knoxpages What we understand about Vinnie´s personality comes from the only version of the split we know...and that´s Gene Simmons´. As far as i know, we have never heard Vinnie´s version of what might have happened. And i will disagree with you he never "sold any soul or feeling"; on his VVI records there´s plenty of great guitar moments, it was just too bad he had the horrific voice of that guy Mark Slaughter.
Very talented, had a shredding technique, but not necessarily the most talented. Ace was unique and original. Inspired many future guitarists. You could always tell Ace's playing from any other guitarist. Sounds like no one else.
Hey this is great! I always wanted to see the whole version of this when I saw the small clip of it on Kiss X-treme Close Up. Thanks for putting this up!
also Vinnie was not their first choice. They wanted Steve Ferris but the deal didnt happen and they needed a guitarist for their tour and Vinnie ended up in the band by default. He was the one they could get.
@ibanezps10ltd Creatures is the best Kiss cd in the last 28 years until Sonic Boom came out.Overall Creatures rules over every Kiss album except Hotter than Hell.I enjoy the underated cds too like Unmasked,Carnival of Souls, and the Elder
@robzombys1 "Sonic Boom" is the best since "Creatures"? What about "Revenge"? I think if I could pick two albums that ruled the post-Classic lineup, it would be those two.
Even if it was one of the shortest living line-up, it is one of the best. I wonder what it would have sounded if Ace had been playing on the album, probably better
One of the heaviest hits by KISS and IMO, a very under-rated LP. KISS was going through a lot at this point in their careers, especially in the lead guitar department. Ace was on his way out and Vinnie Vincent was being phased in.
Ace got no credit and still doesn't!!! Gene still uses Ace and Peter and doesn't pay them properly! There would be no KISS without Ace and Peter! Greedy mofo!
If you listen to this from eraphones outside your ear and try to hear I was MAde for Loving you you can hear similar things. This is just a heavier version with other lyrics
i wonder how different kiss would be if they continued to make heavy or hevier albums after creatures after lick it up their albums in 84-88 all sound like they could be on the same album real 80's music not the heavy metal 80's but generic 80's sound if they kept makin albums like creatures i think they woulda kept the make up and kept that line up with vinnie even if he was a pain to paul and gene this was carrs best album in my opinion
Thanks for sharing! I like this kiss-lineup even though i love peter to. Kinda hard to find videos of live preformances from the "creatures of the night" album (with Ace). Peace!
really nice editing man, coming from an editor who's done stuff like this. your's is honestly much more "Music video" like than anything i've ever done.
This defitely one their worst videos ever done, but when I 1st saw a small quick portion of this vid on "KISS-EXTREME CLOSE UP" I almost shit my fucking pants off screaming"wholly shit WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?? IT KICKED MAJOR ASS-MAN!!
yea same here first saw part of it on Kiss Extreme Close Up...it maybe one of their worst videos but i still love it. Eric Carr is my favorite drummer of Kiss, which is why i love this video
This wasn't a video, they did a promo tour in Europe before their tour & lip synched on these tv shows. There's 2dvd set from the "Creatures" era in trading circles. There are about 6 clips of them lip synching "I Love It Loud" on 6 different tv shows right in a row so the coolness rubs off after the 3rd one. lol Could be i'm just sick of "I Love It Loud" tho. Probably.
Man when I 1st saw this clip on their X-TREME CLOSE UP vid I nearly shit my pants and thought WHY DID THEY ONLY GIVE US A MERE 20 SEC OF CLIP TIME THIS SONG IS FUCKING AWESOME!!
High energy video, KISS rebounded out of the gloom that shrouded the ELDER with the super heavy album COTN,that hasn't been matched since. The drumming was thunderous, with Eric proving to a demon behind the skins and the rest of the band following suit. The intensity is as high if not higher than when KISS first formed. The only downside was losing Ace during this period...but we got him back...but then we lost him...and then we....
@glynnracing79 , listening to the Elder the other day and was thinking the same thing. The comment about rebounding out of the gloom, was referring to the limited success the Elder had but deserved. It was too much of a shock for the young audience KISS had at the time, but now it's appreciated. Besides it fired KISS up for a dynamite follow up. Good point though.
they begged ace to be on the cover of the record as well as the european TV tour of creatures of the night. He didn't played a not on the album though. Officially, Ace left Kiss during the creatures of the night tour... unifficciayl... he left the band after The Elder as you said.
@bergamind they also did this as to not rock the boat with Polygram Records. which they signed a multi-million dollar contract with them two years prior. The contract stipulated that if Gene, Paul, or, Ace left the band (Peter's departure was already written into the contract so it had no effect) The contract would be null and void. Polygram caught on though and G&P were forced to sign a much smaller deal to avoid being without a label.
@bergamind begged-not really he got paid 25% of the albums profits-he also got the same for Lick it UP & Animalize albums. He waited and released Frehley's Comet(86) after he was no longer part of KISS legally to avoid Gene/Paul sharing in his profits.Nothing wrong with that - just the he negociated out of the band.
@bergamind It's funny that it's mentioned that he didn't play on it. He actually did play, BUT his parts were removed. There were some "Top pops" rehearsal stuff floating around with Ace playing his solos & they were pretty similar to what Vinnie played, surprisingly. I was told that his parts (2 solos) were removed to keep the continuity of the album. Of course when we get to Lick it Up it's understandable that it was Vinnie's tone.
@acefrehley96 most of the tv appearances for The Elder & Creatures were lip sync performances, and the guitars were not plugged in. The exception is the footage on Kissology. Great montage.
no, ace to this day has never played this song live. on the "farewell" tour, ace, peter, paul and gene played "i love it loud", "lick it up" and "heaven's on fire".
ace and peter had never played those before 2000 tour.
Great video...see Ace with KISS for the last time....but , on the title-track of the album , it's not ACE , not Vinnie Vincent who plays lead guitar....it's Steve FARRIS who is a studio musician, recommanded by Eddie Van Halen to Paul STANLEY
With this album and 1992's REVENGE albums you could almost confuse KISS for a heavy metal group when actually they are if fact a hard rock group,no more,no less.Still a great song though huh!!??
the "I Love IT Loud" video really looked like the music sounds but this video doesn't quite capture it the same. also... ace looks really REALLY out of it in this hahahah. he looks downright feeble. not being mean but don't you agree?
you're missing the point... if you knew kisstory, you would know that this song never got a video made for it... this is a fan edit... the only footage of the band playing the song in lip-sync.
This was the first (new) kiss album i bought. Remember when it hit the stores back in autum 82`. I bought it on cassette. we were counfused by the fact that there where now ace songs on the album. It was a lot of roumers in this period..ace car crash, make up of`\on ?. i was 12 years. PEACE :)
I really like this album because it was tough but then again I love KISS and this was a weird period in their career. I was only 9 when the album came out
I might want to add at this point that KISS, while being a great band, making great music, are glam, not heavy, sry, but its Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden, who are the earliest large metal bands
no, they just used his face for original blue cover, and played this lip sync, and he appears in video I Love It Loud, but he didn't recorded a note in COTN album. They did the same with Peter Criss and Unmasked - he didn't play anything on the LP, but he appears in video Shandi

I might want to add at this point that KISS, while being a great band, making great music, are glam, not heavy, sry, but its Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden, who are the earliest large metal bands

Did Ace everplay this this song in the studio?
sai030 4 years ago
no, they just used his face for original blue cover, and played this lip sync, and he appears in video I Love It Loud, but he didn't recorded a note in COTN album. They did the same with Peter Criss and Unmasked - he didn't play anything on the LP, but he appears in video Shandi
