@MultiDroski It is his Bankai. It just has multiple forms....the original form is like his Shikai, just on a waay larger scale. And on the other forms all those sword pellets pull themselves together to either this sword dome or all into a single blade.

that is not entirely true. kaien was good guy, he died :). the only guy byakuya really wanted to kill was ichigo, he survived that because he's the main character. byakuya didn't really want to kill ganju and renji, they were just in the way so he removed them.

The shiba clan fell out of power when Kaien died, but it is true. Byakuya respected Ganju's will and used the most brutal attack he had, that wouldn't kill him i.e. bankai.

His Bankai has 3 'stages', 4 if you want to get technical. The first is Senbonzakura Kageyoshi (1000 Cherry Blossoms Grim Scenery).

The second, Senkei Senbonzakura Kageyoshi (Senkei: Scene of the Massacre).

And the third, Shukei Hakuteiken (Final Scene, White Imperial Sword).
