@pokamonmaster1997 Haha sorry, we used to sing it on the way home from rugby games after we had won! Couldnt resist, i am a nice guy really. I saved a guys life last year!
Cool! Check out the work of this British female music producer and her experiments with speech synthesis-
In YouTube, search for 'DENI, TIMEKODE' then listen to 'POEM-MACHINE RANT', 'TONGUE TWISTER', 'MEDLEY', 'CHEAP SPACE CHANT', 'YOUVE BROKEN THRU' and 'WOW! I WANT IT'.
Interesting how with all the advancements made in artificially-generated speech, the sound of this method's tonal qualities make it "classic"... as opposed to "antiquated" or just simply "outmoded", thankfully. Same goes for Auto-tuner versus Vocoder: Vocoder wins be mere cool-factor of it's smooth, "organic" sound.
Why can't you make music like that today with MIDI and sequencing programs like Sibelius? Why can't you make your lyric tracks SING rather than just hum? I mean, I heard this "Daisy" was programmed in 1961, did this technology not catch on?
I remember a demonstration of this song on an IBM 360 or 7094 computer at UCLA at an open house in 1967. There was a demonstration of this song in an Irish accent and I forgot what the other accent was.
Even though we have such advanced technology (and I use a whole lot of it), hearing this computer both fascinates and utterly scares the hell out of me!
To be, or not to be, that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles And by opposing end them. To die—to sleep, No more; and by a sleep to say we end The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks That flesh is heir to: 'tis a consummation Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep; William Shakespeare's Hamlet
LOL when he says 'Incidentally, synthesising music on a computer is almost as formidable as making a computer talk.' We can now make computers do that easily.
@DrByrthfood2 HAHA yes. I noticed that when I came across this recording years ago. There is much to be said about making any sort of software, or device, more complicated than it needs to be despite not being able to make it work very well.
Does this thing still work? MAKE IT SING STILL ALIVE!!!!
