I thought the additions were great when I was 11, but since then, I've looked back and realized how unnecessary a good deal of the changes were. The Jabba/Han scene was good, and the touches to improve quality were good (film restoration, hovercraft not looking like it's on an orange blob), but Han shot first, the Mos Eisley scenes added nothing, and there doesn't need to be more stormtroopers in the desert.

@Wes964 Yeah, I was 17 when the "Improved" versions came out, and it was the first time I got the chance to see Star Wars in theaters because I was born in '80, so I was very excited. I walked out pretty disappointed by all the changes. He didn't mess with Empire Strikes Back too much though, so that's good, but the changes to IV and VI were too invasive. And then after the new ones he went back and changed VI again to put Hayden in, which was entirely unnecessary.

@SAOrules There were huge changes made to the Mos Eisley scenes. Setting aside the "Han Shot First" fiasco, he added digital images of random beasts and wide shots of the city, and a really bad CGI Jabba. In Jedi, he completely changed the celebration on Endor scene and added a horrible musical number. They're all in crappy mid 90's CGI. They don't improve on the theatrical version at all, except for retconning Ian McDiarmid as the Emperor in Empire. Wiki has a list of changes.

@Wes964 Agreed, adding McDiarmid into empire was one of the only good changes, and adding Christensen in at the end of Jedi was just pathetic i thought, it made no sense at all. although i dont mind the wide shots of mos eisley at all. and i thought putting temeura morrison's voice over boba fett was a valid choice too, helped connect the two trilogies together a bit.
