  • It's his shaving off of his eyebrows that continued to make him look even more unusual, androgenous (and unlike any human being) for the Ziggy years and the American Soul phase. Just MHO.

  • im sure a bit was cut out of the start, you can see lines of coke all over the table when he is talking about lyric cut ups (u can still see some at 0:00)

coke is over-rated and overpriced if you asked me....ha

  • Makes me wanna do coke for the first time LOL!!!

  • Did Bowie invent moonwalking at 4:24?

  • @vorkutaman yes indeed years before mj :)

  • @vorkutaman haha seems that way :)

  • @vorkutaman Only thing is he's standing in place while doing it.

  • SO WILD ///TIME TAKE A CIGARETTE......EVERCHANGING, VISUALLY SO VERY CREATIVE...THE OUTRAGEOUS TRAPPINGS// ALWAYS A PERFORMANCE TO BEHOLD FOR YOUR MIND IS ABOUT TO BE BLOWN!!!! MICK RONSON DID NOT HURT..HIS PRODUCTION OF IGGY AND BILLY IDOL, 2 NAME ACOUPLE, SHEER GENIUS!!!!!!......

  • the master of rock and roll show...not just laying down a set, a show, which some people confuse with sexuality.....Bowie is sexy, rocked w/ the best , guitarists like mick ronson on these tracks and carlos alomar on station to station...always changing..always enticing..love him//such a visual experience

  • they are making another terminator film with bowie in it

  • @ghodium That sounds interesting.

  • Damn...How did David manage to say so thin with a flat belly?

  • @guitarriff1988 He didn't eat! Although as of 2004 (last footage I have seen of him), he's still quite trim. But here, he isn't eating hardly anything. Of course, the masive amount of Cocaine he's doing is a huge factor as well...

  • @weaselsuit Oh ok,What year did he give up coke?

  • @guitarriff1988 As the story goes, in about 1977 when he went to Berlin to make the Eno trio of records. It had to have been hell with the withdrawals and everything. Bowie is a survivor. It ha been said the '76 was rock bottom for him on the coke, but I don't know about that. He made a fantastic record that year and at the '76 Nassau Coliseum show he sounds to be in excellent form, Personally, I think 1974 was where he looked to be in the worst shape. Who knows...

  • @guitarriff1988 cocaine lots and lots of cocaine.

  • Look at 4:21 THE MOONWALK !!!!! Yes Bowie is simply the best....

  • He's just brilliant. I'm sorry, but I can't think of anyone who has ideas and imagination like him. Seriously.

  • @Annaedification Indeed, but he was heavily influenced by many great bands and singers, and alot of theatre, mime, etc.

  • @createhavok But its the fact that he did that in music and produced what was really great music, and he performed it in a way that no one thought possible. The way he brought his characters to life was truely remarkable.

  • WoW! those were huge lines of coke ,@ the start▬▬▬▬

  • Seems to add even more flair to his vocal performances in this soul inflected period

  • @ DJOfRadioGallifrey. What about Marc Bolan?

  • @Tharggmucous a little bit, but it's not an overpowering thing.

  • 2:03 holy crap how was he still walking?! He's a skeleton

  • lol....i like how the cut up strips of paper in the beginning look like lines of coke.

  • When he sings Time I get this shiver down my spawn. and it's a good one.

  • He certainly crossed many lines didn't he? With talent and style no one could come close to.

  • a quand ce document cultissime en dvd?? thanks for this video!!! pour ma part "cracked actor" es tl 'un des meilleurs documentaire "rock" des années 70, tres sombre et éffrayant a la fois , c 'es la période "noire" de bowie suite a son "exile" a los angeles, avec tout les excès que lui connait (cocaine...) il suffit d' écouter la tryptique de bowie (diamond dogs, young american, station to station) thanks for this video!!!!

  • He has longish nails, well basically every little thing about him is womanly... which is hot. It's strange, only he can pull it off, he does it without coming across as completely gay, he still has that appeal.

Bowie is the only camp performer who can turn me on.

Name anybody else...and I'll tell you if they turn me on.

  • @DJOfRadioGallifrey haha wtf

  • @DJOfRadioGallifrey

Maybe not the same sort of camp, but how about late 60's early 70's Keef,

Raw Power era Iggy, Early Roxy ?

  • @DJOfRadioGallifrey Morrissey? :)

  • @DJOfRadioGallifrey How about Bolan? :)

  • I don't understand it. How do people survive from doing hard drugs like cocaine and heroin for such a period? The man makes it looks like it leads to death no matter what, but people like bowie can do coke, and still make awsome music and live to this day! whats the deal? I wana do coke If I can be like bowie!

  • Hahaha...the coke on the table is classic. Sad, but classic.

  • tell me, please, if anyone cooler has ever existed. there hasn't, so don't actually.

  • i think in the begining with the blue suit was at the tower theatre in philadelphia, they should release that whole concert if there is tape of it

  • Moonage Daydream is like my favorite Bowie song, its filled with so much energy.

  • Wow he's miming and moonwalking before Michael did it!

  • Bowie did everything before anyone...always....

  • @MissGloomySunday or just after the artist or artists who create a new genre/style/. he always had his ear to the ground. that in itself is a talent though..

  • Yes he was the first 'rock 'musician to perform it. According to wikipedia, Jackson attended several of Bowie's shows, he probably picked up stuff from that.

    I find that kinda cool.

  • Ah that looks like the rarely seen Tony Defries starting at 7:40

  • david bowie years 74,75 and 76 he'so addict on cocaine but he breaks the curse in station to station when he decided a way to europe and berlin whith he's friend iggy pop and follow the history of rock'n roll.

  • oh fuck off thats why 170 million people (at the last count) have bought Bowies music. I had this shit at school. Go fuck urself but i bet your dick aint that big.

  • I meant It was before the anti drug I was born during the early reagan era So i grew with madonna telling me not to do drugs

  • The coke was just the time. Everybody was doinin' it. I was before all this anti-drug trash.Heres my opinion. Let people decide whether they want to do drugs or not. If it works they will do it. If it doesn't they will stop

  • I love david so much. But I hate all of the drugs he did. But he's still sexy even when he snorts out of his mind. But it's still hot.

  • fuck yeah, i hate the drugs he did too

  • Marry me David!

  • Hands off! He's mine! All mine!

  • Actually, he's all Iman's.

  • Sigh, the painful truth..

  • i wish i could marry him If i had been with him in that time if i had been alive that is i would have helped him through everything.. :(

  • No, Mick's.

  • D:<

  • It's more a mime walk than a moonwalk, but tap dancers were doing the moonwalk in the thirties.

  • was this at MSG in NYC?

  • one part of his "white diet" on the coffee table at the very begining. LOL! Perks you right up.

  • where can i find a dvd of this documentary? anybody?

  • Also, his stage show reminds me of "This is Spinal Tap."

  • Which tour was this? Was it after Diamond Dogs, but before Thin White Duke?

  • This was Diamond Dogs in early and mid 74

  • Is that big brother at the start of time?

  • I saw this show in Nov 74. I saw Diamond Dogs July the same year

  • whaddya want? A gold medal?

  • you must be jealous

  • ya, what are ya jealous ha ha?!

  • I'm jealous.

  • what do i have to be jealous of, OLD MAN!

I'm 23 i can watch all the videos I want of the old daze, can You do what you did when you were 23?

  • even better darling

  • i doubt tit, bozo . . . Nick Zedd is your GOD

  • I don't know him .. He must be yours if your keeping tabs on Him.

  • Time to Google him, bozo

If you dont know NICK ZEDD you dont know much, BOZO

  • OK BOZO. Go Google yourself

  • Notice all the blow on the coffee table. LOL!

  • Wow yeah, good eyes.. lol 00

  • wonderfully thin, my dear

  • such a great band he had on this tour

  • Is it just me or does he resemble Keira Knightley when he's this skinny?

  • So he just joined practically every other performer, acting/music in US, big deal. He has outlasted many of his contemporaries, and his voice has only improved!! its all good!!

  • okay I have been to concerts where artists have been wasted on booze, and it's been fun, you see the artist stagedive, throw beer in his hair, try to kiss the guitarist. But bowie singing "time" all coked up just makes me feel sorry for him. I mean compare that to the "time" performance from the ziggy stardust movie. And why is his voice like that? the coke? This is sad, I say this cuz I love bowie. Glad bowie is allright now, If he would've stayed that way, he wouldn't be alive today.

  • I like how his live songs are different from the album versions. He also looks unhealthilly skinny. This was during his cocaine habit though.

  • It's touching with those four American guys in their jock clothes and haircuts who haven't found out they're gay yet proclaiming their adoration for Bowie.

  • I've always found it really amazing that he made great music when he was so ravaged

  • Did you know that because of his cocaine addiction that his weight went down as low as 80 pounds?

  • Yes, he just survived on milk, peppers & cocaine.

  • Is it me, or is he moonwalking around 4.20?!

  • ...maybe that's why I can never get a story done...I'll waste hours wondering if I should use different grammar in the story...

  • I detest American style teeth. I think big, white, straight teeth are the ugliest thing on gods earth..

  • Well thank god for that!

I knew my retainers were a waste of energy and time!

  • Poor David. He was so thin back then. :((

  • There's a reason they called him the Thin White Duke.

  • He's always been thin, even now (i don't think we'll ever see a fat, old Ziggy) lol. But it was unhealthy then...He was looking painfully gaunt.

  • True enough. His face and teeth looked horrible.

  • i have to disagree. i think whatever that man does, is brilliant and interesting and even on his worst day, he's a heck of alot better than any other musician out today. i happen to find his big, yellow, English teeth to be cute. lol. But i guess that's just me. :))

  • My thoughts exactly Earthling!

  • what with his teeth???

  • The fun thing is that he did that like five years before Michael Jackson.

I recall reading about the the introductory show in Belgium in the Serious Moonlight Tour in 1983, when he did a Moonwalk and put out his hands in a gesture of "So, what's so remarkable about that". Maybe someone else knows more? Was that filmed too?

  • You're right bowie1983. That's hiliarious. I didn't catch that. It definitely does look like he is doing the Moonwalk.

  • At 4:24, it almost looks like he's doing the 'Moon Walk'.

  • Both Capricorns

  • The Marilyn Manson dream!
