  • Geez looks tough good luck bro

  • I have nerve damage in my right leg, so it's pretty much useless. People ask me all the time how I drive. When I tell them I drive with my left foot, they look at me like I'm crazy. It's nice to know that there is someone else out there that drives the same way I do. :-)

  • Is there any way to drive a manual like this? I can't stand automatics, and if I ever lose one of my legs, I'd be in a bit of a rut.

  • @PAVONEZORZ they say amputees can't drive stick cause u need both legs 2 work the gas clutch & brake, however when i made this video i showed myself using my left foot cause it's the easiest way for a right leg amp to drive, but in reality i actually drive with my prosthetic. it's not highly recommended cause u can’t feel how much pressure you're putting on the peddle, but if you're really determined to do it, u can drive with it. Therefor u will have both the legs needed 2 work everything.

  • @PAVONEZORZ as a double amputee, i cannot drive manual because of the reason he states. its really inconsistent to estimate how much pressure youre putting on which pedals, and its hard to tell if you even have the clutch pushed all the way down. and its hard to even push the clutch period cause you have to use your whole foot, you cant bend your ankles and stuff like normal people. you gotta use your heel etc

  • Crew9t, I passed on your reply and we are both relieved to hear that it's legal to drive with the left foot. This is great news because I thought we would have to go through the hassle of altering our car, plus I figured my husband would never again be able to get a rental car. You sound like you are doing well since your amputation and have a can-do attitude. My husband does also, so hopefully he will do well, too. His amputation will probably take place in April. Best wishes to you!

  • Very interesting, thanks! Wow, I didn't know it was even legal to drive using the left foot. I thought they would make you alter your car by moving the petals to the left side or install hand-operated pedals. How long have you been an amputee and how long did it take you to learn to use your left leg on the pedals? This is very interesting to me because my husband will soon have a below-knee amputation of right leg and we have been wondering if he will be able to drive afterwards.

  • @TabithaClaire yeah it's perfectly legal to drive with the left foot. as to date there are no laws against it. i've been an amputee for 8 months and i was drivin within 2 months of the amputation. it took me absolutely no time to learn the process of driving with the left foot i just got into the car and drove. it helps that i have a bigger car ( a kia soul) then just like a regular coupe or something, so it gives me more leg room to postion myself properly. but yeah tell your husband good luck.

  • Just wanted to say thanks for uploading your videos, i had my right leg ripped off september of 2010, i really appreciate your information, and how positive you are. It really helps me to stay positive. I really had low expectations for the remainder of my life, but your video's encouraged me.....so thanks Crew9t
