Okay, so it's not Surfers Paradise in terms of business. A lot of you are talking about how "dead" it is there outside of holiday times. THAT'S A GOOD THING! You get a feeling of serenity, like you have the beach, the mount and other secret locations all to yourself. I live in Surfers but come from Tauranga/Mount Maunganui and I HATE how packed it is with tourists. It's shit. It's so fake, over done, huge hotels and it totally distracts from the beauty. Mount is still very un touched!
mount is a family place ,no much chicks and the sea water is cold ,surf there isnt nice you pray for a wa goos wave,,tauranga there is few bars where you can see some nice girls most of them are brazilians,2 days each plce was enouh.

Tauranga born and bred, and never tried P, nor have I encountered anyone that has. so not sure where you were hanging out, more than likely at the main beach mid summer, where all the P smoking druggies might congregate from around the country. Where you wouldn't find any self respecting resident.
