I think the US music industry focuses on the young and to pump more whimpy music into the airwaves and to be more sleezy to catch the eyes of their audience while losing all the integraty and soul that music can posses. Loreena didn't want to play their game and so she controls every aspect of her music and that is part of why each song is a masterpiece. I don't know much about other Canadian singers, just Getty Lee. Or is it Geddy? I love Rush too, nothing like Loreena!

Hi Sweetie, I wish I had more space to fully explain how the US music industry has stripped the soul out of music. You can see and hear if you compair Tina Turner to Madonna and Brittney Spears. Or (older) Heart to Hannah Montana. Or Loreena to everyone else.

Zylophila, I understand what you are saying concerning the US music industry but I submit to you the world of Itunes and Youtube is exposing/allowed people like me and my children access to songs, heritage, talent that I could not have imagined 20 years ago. Im no longer limited to what a label is promoting or to press junkets, etc. I now am discovering people like Loreena McKennitt, Luke Kelly, and I could go on but our preferences might be so different that the point will be lost!

I am grateful to Itunes and YouTube for the exposure of many different songs and topics. Also for Loreena for expressing different cultures and a great talent she has for singing, writing and business. I agree with you completely, but now you've got me curious of who else you like to listen to? My point is mainly that I hear no heart, no soul in todays music like you do with Loreena's and Luke's performances.

I would have had to drive for 4 hours to this appearence in New York City. I aggonized for days whether to make the trip. Now I regret not going. This song Was worth the price of admission for the album and the concert

You can see the entire performance on Google Video if you search for Loreena McKennitt. There was no price of admission and you didn't have to buy the album.
