both versions of your video are pretty good there are some things you could do to increase your speed during your runs but that's about it good job man :)
Also whats up with the sound quality on the game? I have to turn up my tv super loud just to hear it. then when i get back to MW2 i forget to turn it down and it scared the shit out of me lol.
I think this arcade version sucks. once i got to the snowfield and saw theboss right at the beginning and shortly after the level 6 boss shows up i was like wtf dude. So then i keep going and it skips to level 5, then skips to 6, then 7, and then that turns into the final alien lair stage. Wtf man this is a rip off. They just smashed 5 seperate levels into one clusterfuck of a level. I think they should scrap it and remake it with all the levels. All your paying for is the first 3 levels. ripoff
@PatronSaint210 The original game only had five levels, not eight, and the game was also pretty quiet. What more do you want? Not every game has to be stupidly loud like FPS's tend to be. I'd rather have the audio be quiet and accurate than loud and clipping.
Why is the arcade version shorter than the NES version? Because what if your parents or someone you're with got done shopping around and wanted to leave home so they can watch the news or something?
Anyway, the arcade version's music and sound FX makes me think of the music in other Konami arcades like Gradius and Crime Fighters. I like the arcade Contra more, because the NES version is so overrated.
Remember, the arcade versions always came out first, and the console versions followed like a year later. Konami liked to use some pretty advanced graphics and sound hardware in their arcade machines, so when it came time to port something, quality always had to be lost. To get people to buy the home version, Konami would always add a level or two. The NES version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game was really toned down in graphics, but a few new areas were added. Same case here.
I knew about the arcades coming out first. They were used like prototypes or previews to record the opinions of players about the game. If it succeeded, then it would most likely be ported to home systems. Of course they had to tone down the graphics due to most (if not all) home computers and consoles being weaker, but did you know that the Japanese NES versions of Konami games have special chips that enhance the games, but were taken out during their North America and Europe localizations?
This is a poor mans suckass version of Contra. The controls suck, the bosses are crippled and look like shit, the new M gun and laser sucks, and it's missing a bunch of levels.
There's 4 robots there, but my video capture setup only records every other frame, so I can't see the other 2. That's why it takes me so long to kill them.
I just got 200/200 on Contra this morning. The trick to the robot part is that there are only really 2 of them... You have to aim where they converge, on the left and right side. I kept trying to shoot what I thought was 4, and it took FOREVER. After that i beat the game with 2 lives remaining. : )
I got it free way back, when they did the "Old Spice Challenge..." If you got a certain number of achievements within a month or so, they gave you prizes, one of the prizes was Contra for the arcade, and I got a unique gamerpic. : )
That's what i was thinking. It's nice they added new graphics, at lest they worked on it witch they don't with most arcade games. I don't like the graphics though, and the levels are shorter...right? i rememeber there were 2 bridges on the first level, and more rooms on the first base.
This video be worthwhile if you actually included that game's original audio instead of using some shitty metal song. Why the hell do people always do that when they put gameplay footage on youtube? I want to see and hear the game for what it is. I don't give a shit about the kind of music somebody likes.
Funny thing is, I actually hear a lot of complaints the other way too. When watching a video of something, why would someone want to hear the same music they've been hearing every time they play the game themselves. So go far enough to remove the game audio completely, so people don't have to hear the repetitive game sound effects over the music they're trying to hear. Oh well, my video plays metal, and there are people who won't like metal no matter what, and that's fine. Go watch someone else.
do you want to play online sometime?

@InfernoCorpHQ I don't have a working 360 at the moment. Original 360s are garbage. I'm saving up for a slim-line one.

i hate the xbox version they fucked it up waste of my money
seekanddestroy1200 2 years ago
They fucked it up? What's wrong with it? If the "enhanced" graphics are your issue, you can turn them off and play a straight arcade port instead.

What was going on with the robot head boss? That didn't look right at all.
DonnywhoTOOKMYNAME 3 years ago
Yeah, that boss is boring in the arcade version. Take out the guns and it's defenseless. The NES version of the boss is a lot better.
