running into more people? ive been playing WAR for a few days now and there is almost nobpdy there for all the cool raids and public quests, i find it sad that the servers seem so underpopulated I hoped for awsome battles but what did I get? 2 teams 1 team with 3 guys the other with 12....
@YouWarhammer Alas yes. It was packed back in it's early days but the devs refused to balance the servers with some sort of population per side cap. This lead to people choosing the side that had more people for the sake of domination the RVR zones.
It was balanced in population for only a short while and after that it just started to die because no one wanted to go up against an army that outnumbered them 8-1. If they had done a pop balance of some sort it would have done way better.
This game was fun, really fun. It kept me interested in playing though I finally stopped because to keep my full attention I HAVE to play with others. Was a Warrior Priest for a time and others I marched with Chaos.
I would be happy to get back into this game if I had a reason to (namely friends or guild) I do recommend this game to whoever likes Warhammer lore or PVP in an MMO.

I am a wow player, and i have never played warhammer online before.
However i am a massive PvPer fan, and on wow im very good at it.
Additionally WoW offers a certain type of PvPer that requires SOO much skill and co-ordination to be good at. This is ARENA which I believe is 100 x better than a 'Seige' or 'BattleGrounds', it displays your knowledge of other races/class's/specs etc. If i were to switch i would need a similar PvP system towards this.
It's been two years since I played this game, is it actually worth trying to come back to it? I remember it being boring as sin in the first two months after release and I hit max level and had nothing to do. Has anything changed or is the game basically dead now?

@Aminefan700 I think cataclysm may well deliver a fresh experience for wow, well at least I hope. I understand where you are coming from as I just raid once a week with my guild now as I find most of the other content has gone stale. I have not played this game so for me to say it's a bad game would be me judging a book by it's cover. I may well switch to star wars: the old republic next year if I find wow lacking in a fresh experience.
It looks so much like WoW.. Honestly. Also, in all the early videos, Warhammer online looked great graphically, but now it looks as cartoony as WoW also.. Shame really.

@MattiBoi99 WoW has lost it's edge, its easy, and boring. Warhammer on the other hand, it's something new, fresh, and badass. Hopefully something Cataclysm will deliver to WoW. There really needs to be no conflict, there is no greatest MMO of all time. There is an opinion, an opinion that comes from you, and others. Wow has an amazing, unique world, countless various and original monsters, thousands upon thousands of items. All the classes are extremely fun, have so much to them -
Wow has undoubtedly the best executed faction system around, best selection of races as well. biggest, richest MMO world out there. Best PVP out there(though flawed). It has unique artsytle, HUGE, rich and unique lore and above all it has VARIETY. IT has things to do at all levels.
Even if it's the best MMORPG out there it's certainly not perfect, and went largely downhill with expansions IMO, and it's sadly going in that direction. But overrated? hell no.

@heheIvan When did I say you could? I thought you'd be bright enough to consider my opinion just that, an opinion. I'm also a 3D designer / modeler so when I say better artwork for a game I'm generally reffering to higher res textures, more poly's, etc. All of which warhammer has, it's just a higher quality game in terms of effort put into it from the artwork perspective unless you like low poly models and lower res textures which I doubt many people do.

Absolutely not. Just the opposite in fact, at least for me. When I reach lv 80 and experience most things there are to experience, I get bored and consider it a finished game. I stop playing and want something else.
Maybe that's just me, now that I think about it, maybe having a very strong and involving guild has the staying factor, as well as waiting for expansions, but that's it. not enough for me. Having to pay by far overcomes all the reasons for staying.
@heheIvan Then you're one of a rare few. Why do you think they put grinds in a game? People like earning things on a base psychological level that take time and effort. Up and leaving all of that when being tempted with a carrot on a stick for future updates is what keeps the majority of people in mmo's. It's simple marketing. You see this with nigh EVERY big mmo genre. This is the only reason MMO's can get away with having people spend several hours on the same dungeon every day for months.

Hey Guys, own warhammer used to play for a bit. I quit cos real life stuff got in the way. Was wondering of getting back into WAR. Could a current player answer these questions.
1. Played WAR for 6 months after the launch, has any thing been added in?
2. Has the PVE been enhanced?
3. I personally enjoy the tank and/or ranged dps categories...are these still needed?
4. If you answer these questions tell me if you are or were a WoW Player

@Ibeenlookingforu15 I went back! It is okay actually. There are still some people saying 'i came back x months ago' and they have stayed. The game has been teaked. The tank classes seem to be more powerful than ever. It is different than wow though but that is a good thing. Overall I would say that I am enjoying the experience. Would be better if you had a mate or two, but being in Aust it is hard to get right timezone for US guys.
Im playing it now its great love it the only downside that is bugging me atm is not enough players for such an epic game! i dont understand this blows wow. Everyone start playin WAR :D

First thing i have to say is this game KILLS WOW it puts wow in the dirt.. EA made a similar mmo that doesnt look like its for 8 year olds. Theres actually gore and fighting and everything is muuch better not only that the PVP in this game is the best pvp you can get in a mmo... as for graphics goes once again this blows wow out the water i dont know what kind of computer you guys are runnin this on or what specs your playin on but with the grapic options maxed out this game looks amazin for mmo
So much misinformation in this review, EA must have shifted some funds IGN's way cause the game is NOT polished, runs like crap on almost all machines, buggy and glitchy and I know graphics are not as important as alot of other things but seriously some of the textures I have seen in the forest areas are embarasing.
In general I'm really getting over the fantasy MMO genre, WoW does it best hands down if you still like it but if not don't waste your time with this.
This game is doing terribly, even AoC has a better chance of being revitalized. They have fixed almost all of the bugs in AoC and are bringing out an expansion to hopefully get people sick of WoW to try it again.
@conorwilson1647 Well not there's a endless free trial so you don't have to. Although that endless trial Is very limited so If you plan on playing It then you'll end up upgrading eventually anyway. I guess It's a nice way to make the player have good time on choosing whether It's worth the money or not though :D
@aznboionfya yea, i agree they have completly nerfer heroics to a point where its not even remotly hard, for example, one day on HFoS, low gs( like 3k something) dies so we have the lock summon the the voidwalker and he tanks ick and krick...that should not be possible. a damn mage coulda done it.

@J0RDSKI Yes, ICC 25 man heroic is DEPRESSINGLY easy. I ran it with my guild the other night because they had an extra spot to fill, so they picked me to go. I was utterly disappointed at how easy everything was. We never had a single death until about the 5th boss.
I remember back in vanilla WoW when raiding was serious business. People died repeatedly, and wiping on every boss at least once wasn't unheard of.

Ya true enough, you will lack skills and armor only available to players who actually are the level you buffed to but that doesn't mean you can't compete with them. I've seen a lot of PvP where lower ranked players even myself often came out on top.
Yes good players at the actual level you're buffed to will be better but if they weren't, why would you bother leveling at all?
The whole rpg genre is based on leveling, if you didn't need to then it wouldn't really be an rpg
Hmm, I think my post should make sense combined with the whole comment change but I guess to clarify.
If you're level 2 you'll be in tier 1 (levels 1-11) that means that when you play PvP your character will be buffed to level 11. So all your stats will reflect a level 11 player . However you're stats from armor do not buff as they are dependent on the armor you're wearing, not you're level. Also you won't have learned all the skills that a higher level player would have
hell no game is needed to kill wow battlenet / blizz is doing just fine killing it...wow is retard-idly easy now and with the lfg system now more idiots to encounter more bots and hacks private servers run better and keep the hacks out better than the retail now..pathetic

actually I played the game and there really isn't any ganking or camping... If there is a high ranked character going into the low level area and is flagged for PvP. he'll turn into a chicken which has only 1 hp and no abilities (except for running away faster)
also if you die you get transported to the safty of your warcamp... so no camping...
there are hotspots where you can expect people to gang up on you... but you can gang up on them...
yeah thing about wow i hate is you always have to keep up to date and get the better gear that comes out, if you don't you will fall behind and can't get groups etc..
this game sucks all u do is spam buttons and DONT LIE thats all u do this game takes no skill. same goes for WoW no skill same boring shit. almost all mmos are pretty much that way. u click a guy press some buttons till one of u dies. lol....

Wow has undoubtedly the best executed faction system around, best selection of races as well. biggest, richest MMO world out there. Best PVP out there(though flawed). It has unique artsytle, HUGE, rich and unique lore and above all it has VARIETY. IT has things to do at all levels.
Even if it's the best MMORPG out there it's certainly not perfect, and went largely downhill with expansions IMO, and it's sadly going in that direction. But overrated? hell no.

It's like if you spent thousands of dollars on a card game and a new one that was better balanced, more fun, with better artwork came out it would have to be not only a bit better but loads better to draw you away from that game since you had invested so much into it. The same concept works here.

@heheIvan When did I say you could? I thought you'd be bright enough to consider my opinion just that, an opinion. I'm also a 3D designer / modeler so when I say better artwork for a game I'm generally reffering to higher res textures, more poly's, etc. All of which warhammer has, it's just a higher quality game in terms of effort put into it from the artwork perspective unless you like low poly models and lower res textures which I doubt many people do.

Absolutely not. Just the opposite in fact, at least for me. When I reach lv 80 and experience most things there are to experience, I get bored and consider it a finished game. I stop playing and want something else.
Maybe that's just me, now that I think about it, maybe having a very strong and involving guild has the staying factor, as well as waiting for expansions, but that's it. not enough for me. Having to pay by far overcomes all the reasons for staying.

@heheIvan Then you're one of a rare few. Why do you think they put grinds in a game? People like earning things on a base psychological level that take time and effort. Up and leaving all of that when being tempted with a carrot on a stick for future updates is what keeps the majority of people in mmo's. It's simple marketing. You see this with nigh EVERY big mmo genre. This is the only reason MMO's can get away with having people spend several hours on the same dungeon every day for months.

Hey Guys, own warhammer used to play for a bit. I quit cos real life stuff got in the way. Was wondering of getting back into WAR. Could a current player answer these questions.
1. Played WAR for 6 months after the launch, has any thing been added in?
2. Has the PVE been enhanced?
3. I personally enjoy the tank and/or ranged dps categories...are these still needed?

@Ibeenlookingforu15 I went back! It is okay actually. There are still some people saying 'i came back x months ago' and they have stayed. The game has been teaked. The tank classes seem to be more powerful than ever. It is different than wow though but that is a good thing. Overall I would say that I am enjoying the experience. Would be better if you had a mate or two, but being in Aust it is hard to get right timezone for US guys.

First thing i have to say is this game KILLS WOW it puts wow in the dirt.. EA made a similar mmo that doesnt look like its for 8 year olds. Theres actually gore and fighting and everything is muuch better not only that the PVP in this game is the best pvp you can get in a mmo... as for graphics goes once again this blows wow out the water i dont know what kind of computer you guys are runnin this on or what specs your playin on but with the grapic options maxed out this game looks amazin for mmo

So much misinformation in this review, EA must have shifted some funds IGN's way cause the game is NOT polished, runs like crap on almost all machines, buggy and glitchy and I know graphics are not as important as alot of other things but seriously some of the textures I have seen in the forest areas are embarasing.
In general I'm really getting over the fantasy MMO genre, WoW does it best hands down if you still like it but if not don't waste your time with this.

This game is doing terribly, even AoC has a better chance of being revitalized. They have fixed almost all of the bugs in AoC and are bringing out an expansion to hopefully get people sick of WoW to try it again.
All we can do is hope for the best.

@J0RDSKI Yes, ICC 25 man heroic is DEPRESSINGLY easy. I ran it with my guild the other night because they had an extra spot to fill, so they picked me to go. I was utterly disappointed at how easy everything was. We never had a single death until about the 5th boss.
I remember back in vanilla WoW when raiding was serious business. People died repeatedly, and wiping on every boss at least once wasn't unheard of.

these games should be alot more interactive by now. when i hopped on one of these i was expecting the games environment to be as vast and interactive as fallout or oblivion. where you could pick up anything rob people in they're sleep and all that shit. and there should be no more ai it should all be real people.. the sleeping people you robbed could be people that saved they're game and are off line. it should be way more advanced by now.

i'd call it you get buffed to a cirtain level, which gives you a good chance, but as a level 2, you can't beat a 20. (or lvl 11 in Tier 1?)

Ya true enough, you will lack skills and armor only available to players who actually are the level you buffed to but that doesn't mean you can't compete with them. I've seen a lot of PvP where lower ranked players even myself often came out on top.
Yes good players at the actual level you're buffed to will be better but if they weren't, why would you bother leveling at all?
The whole rpg genre is based on leveling, if you didn't need to then it wouldn't really be an rpg

Hmm, I think my post should make sense combined with the whole comment change but I guess to clarify.
If you're level 2 you'll be in tier 1 (levels 1-11) that means that when you play PvP your character will be buffed to level 11. So all your stats will reflect a level 11 player . However you're stats from armor do not buff as they are dependent on the armor you're wearing, not you're level. Also you won't have learned all the skills that a higher level player would have

Most PvP based game Ive played since WoWs first year (ONLY, i quit before TBC).
You siege keeps in massive groups, most ive been in is 50 people or so.
It has BG type of gameplay, same as WoW.
There is no level difference once you enter a "BG" and when you siege castles.
Graphics are fairly good, some people complain. However, i run on max and it looks swell.
What can I say ? Im a Classic WoW player, who has finally found a game that matched up.
I recommend it to any real PvP'er

actually I played the game and there really isn't any ganking or camping... If there is a high ranked character going into the low level area and is flagged for PvP. he'll turn into a chicken which has only 1 hp and no abilities (except for running away faster)
also if you die you get transported to the safty of your warcamp... so no camping...
there are hotspots where you can expect people to gang up on you... but you can gang up on them...
