I've never felt better, and I have to thank you Dr. Cathy, your video workouts are wonderful I have been doing them for the last 6 months and will continue on after I give birth! I am toned and energetic and I love it:) Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart:) And thanks also from my baby, who is no doubt healthy and vibrant due in part to Your workouts;) love Stacey and baby:)
@StaceyLynn710 Sweet! Thank you! Happy to hear it. Keep watching as I've posted a few new videos lately and have many more to come. Congratulations on your healthy baby!
thank you so much for sharing your workouts videos for preggos. I've been trying to lose the excess fat I gained with my son who is 4 yrs old and then bam!!! i found out i"m pregnant..9 weeks to be exact. My goals changed but i just didn't know what workouts to do anymore. Completely..until now. I can still lift weights safely and I'm thrilled. thank you again!!
@XoXoDreaMeoXoX Wow - no one has ever said that before...not sure how to take that. Thanks, I guess. I can assure you that's my real belly with my very real 1st pregnancy at about 39 weeks. First pregnancy went 42 1/2 weeks and yes I was and am in great shape from a life time of taking care of myself. Just teaching women that they can have healthy pregnancies and a healthy motherhood.
hi dr cathy..i'm in fight to reduce my weight to a normal BMI and suddenly found out that i'm pregnant in 6th week. since this is my first pregnancy, is it safe for me to perform the exercises that u suggested in ur vids? pls advice
I LOVE THESE VIDEOS!! i am pregnant with my second child. My first pregnancy i gained over 60 lbs and i swore this pregnancy would be different. im making healthier choices and staying more active with my toddler:) But i really wanted to find an exercise routine safe for pregnant women. these videos are awesome and i cant wait to get set on a routine!! thank you so much! i think u just saved my life!!
@diez1987 You are so welcome - glad to have you with us. Try all of the videos I have, they are all safe and effective to use during your pregnancy and after baby is born to regain your figure. Join our fan page as well on facebook at "Educated Pregnancy"
i just came across your videos and so excited that i found them!- i am 34 weeks pregnant and i am wondering if it is safe to start doing these exercises now . i had a very hard time the first 6 months of my pregnancy which took me away from keeping my body active. so i am also wondering if i start now will it help in delivery and help me to get my strength back to what it was
heather-Congratulations! While it's never too late to start making healthy changes to your lifestyle, you'll have to decide for yourself what level of exercise you're capable of at this point. Any amount will provide you some added comfort & strength during delivery, but consult with your midwife about your level of health & fitness. An easy walking routine may be all you need. Remember to take 6 weeks off after baby is born, but then join me back right here & I'll help you get back in shape.
Thank you very much for all of yours video. This is my first pregnancy. I was feeling really bad at the begining and couldn't do a lot. It really made me depress because before I was really fit. I gained more than 20 kg. When I saw all of movies I started do some exercises and came back to my previous psychological condition. Although I 34 weeks I believe it's not too late to start exercising and coming back to previous condition. Once more Thank you.
You are excellent! I am doctor my self, and now in week 29...I work out every day for many yrs, but since I am 40 and pregnant, I did a lot of cardio and some other exercise but this really helped me out a lot! You are just in perfect shape....Keep it up:-). All best
@EmilySFreeman No, I typcally do 3. Begin with either the warm up or cardio abs video, then select a weight training video that you will repeat 2 or 3 times, then follow up with yoga, abs or stretch.
i just find your video im 4 months pregnant and i will do your exercices everyday its hard to find exercices for pregnant women so thanks for sharing your ideas with us.
Dr cathy, im going on 9 weeks and im 104 pounds.. i used to work out 4 days a week for 45 min doing circuit training with weights following videos like jari love and jackie warner. I cut down to 2-3 days a week following thier video for 30 min. I lift 8 pound weights doing squats and lunges as well, but in minutes with no rest..is this safe? I would like to continue to workout through my pregnancy but not sure what videos to follow, thanks!
@Danniekitten Most women should be able to continue doing the workouts they were doing before they became pregnant. Many of my videos were filmed when I was 39 weeks pregnant, if that gives you an indication of what's possible.
DR. CATHY this is my first pregnancy and it has taken a toll on my body and food cravings...im only 3 1/2 months and i already gained about 20 pounds. My arms are so fat and flabby and my thighs are ridiculously big. I know you cant diet while your pregnant. Ive been eating fruit and i cant eat fast food or fried meats at all. I havent been eating alot of sweets. I dont have enough energy to move i just sit in the house like a couch potatoe. Can you give me "any" type of advice for this laziness
The less you do, the more tired you will become and therefore you will want to do even less. The more you do, the more energy your body will have and therefore you will want to do more. Sounds crazy, but it's true. Just get up and walk to the mailbox, right now. Then later on today, walk to the corner. Then tomorrow walk around your block. Within no time, you'll have the energy to walk around your whole neigborhood. And you and your baby will be healthier
iIheared the first three months you have to really take care of yourself . Can i start working out as soon as i find out im pregnant or three months after????
helo doctor!im nearly 4mos pregnant n im usually suffering form leg cramps!its kinda painful ,when im abt to get up from bed,its kinda difficult 4 me since my legs really ache..what kind of exercise is suitable 4 me then??tnx!!!
@Sakura6576 A lot of women write to me about leg cramps...drinking plenty of water, eating healthy foods, minimizing salt, and elevating your feet can help. Some women are just going to get leg cramps during pregnancy no matter what, but try these ideas to maybe minimize yours.
@lindatwothree everybody is different, but I would suggest a minimum of 5 pounds for most people, a maximum of 20 pounds for others. Using 3 pound weights is just too easy for most women. I like to use 7 - 15 pounds for most upper body exercises, but mix it up a bit to really work your muscles.
@sarahcordeiro Yes - of course you can. Modify as needed to accomodate your growing belly, but don't quit exercising - in fact, this is the most important time in your life to work out! Take care and keep me posted.
hi Dr. Cathy.. im 28 weeks pregnant im 21 yr old and im a very small and petite girl.. what is the best exercse for me? my lower back is hurt so bad..thank you
If your back has been hurting, please go see a chiropractor right away. They can help with your back for your entire pregnancy. Try my warm up, yoga and stretch videos to see which work best for you.
Hi doctor..thank u so much for these great exercises..I'm 7 weeks now and I want to know how many exerciese should I do on a daily basis & which r they???
I prefer that women get 20-40 minutes a day. You can use any combination of walking, stretching and weight training, but to make it simple to keep a good, safe and effective routine, try this:
Start with either my warm-up or cardio abs video
Then pick any one of my weight training videos and repeat that 1 video 2-3 times
End with either my yoga or relaxing full body stretch video.
Follow this pattern 4-5 days/week - switching the weight video everyday for a great routine for entire pregnancy
Hi Doctor, I am 29 weeks now and I am doing exercise but you really inspire me more. do you do some coaching or do u have a dvdv or website??. How many weeks are u in this video??, thanks
Thank you - I was about 39 weeks in this video. My son was born at 42 1/2 weeks. For now, these videos are my main source of helping you, but more are on the way. Check back
Hi there! I am 25 and we are planning to have our first baby in the next year. I have stretch marks on my thighs and butt, but I am fairly toned. If I keep on exercising while preggars will that help prevent more?
It may help, but stretch marks have a lot to do with genetics. Drink tons of water, take vitamin E, use lots of cocoa butter all over your belly, butt, hips and thighs, and exercise throughout your entire pregnancy.
Dr Cathy, I have not been excercising so much at all, but now that I am 12 weeks pregnant, want to excercise for good health of me and the baby. Is it safe for me to start with your excersise videos?
yes, just check with your midwife first to be sure you are doing well, but all of these videos are designed to be safe throughout your entire pregnancy.
Hi doctorcathy,I just saw these videos today and I felt so much relief and so eager to do exercise. Before my pregnancy I practiced Karate 5 days a week, and when I got pregnant my doctor told me that I should stop doing exercise at allI dont agree and I don feel good if I dont exercise. At this moment I ride a static bicycle at home for 20 m, 4 days a week. But I dont feel that this is enough. Im 4 months pregnant and I want to do more exercise. Can I follow this routine?
You should be able to exercise, providing your pregnancy is going well. So many people treat pregnancy like a disease and tell you what you should not do...that is just ridiculous. This is the time of your life to be the healthiest, for you and your baby.
Thank you - if you met my baby, you would feel much more comfortable because he is as healthy, happy and wonderful as you could ask for. Take care of yourself - your baby's life depends on it!
I have to say I've wanted to excersize during my prgnancy. I'm currently 28 weeks and I feel much more comfortbale watching you (a pregnant doctor) perform exercises then I do some skinny girl. Because I only want to do exercises I know aren't harmful to my baby. And these exercises are great! And it's more comforting watching you being pregnant do them as well.
Without knowing your situation, there's no way to correctly answer that...except to say that most women should not be trying to lose weight during pregnancy unless you are significantly overweight to begin with. And even then - you must do so under close observation by your midwife so as not to deprive the baby. Pregnancy is all about the baby's health - don't focus on how your clothes fit. Rejoice in your growing belly and know you are experiencing a miracle inside of you!
How many calories should I aim to burn a day while pregnant? I was doing 500 a day before pregnancy to lose 2 pounds a week. What should I aim for now? Please give me CALORIES not an answer like till u are tired. Thanks!
Awesome ..my wife is prego and I am in the gym everyday ..she is wanting to go ..this is very helpful!
