Why is 'Amy Williams' so hurtful, so strong? She isn't Amy Pond, she hasn't been for a very long time. Amy Pond is the awkward young girl who fell in love with her imaginary raggedy man, who wasn't ready to get married. Amy Pond is the kissogram who hates where she is and wants to break free. But she's grown up now: she is Amy Williams, the wife of Rory Williams, mother of River Song, and she doesn't need the Doctor anymore. Because that freedom she was searching for? She's found it now.
you know how sometimes something is the absolute worst but the absolute best wrapped into one? because that's how I would describe doctor who to someone and this scene is a perfect example of why
@lahswe21 I really don't get that either tbh. I'm guessing the writer forgot to put anything about Rory getting knocked down by the door or something, so i think the director did that so it didn't kill the emotional mood... but it's just comical and distracting lol.
"There's something you better understand about me, 'cause it's important and one day your life may depend on it. I am definitely a madman with a box!"
when he has to break her faith in him...and it switches from little Amy to older Amy it just makes me cry. The sad look as the doctor tells her what he always has been and when he says Amy William...after that i'm always a mess of tears.
Really like this scene. but did anyone notice that e veryone has a room except Rory. In the episode he saw an exit...what I get from it is that he has lived so long (The Last Centurion) he just takes things as they come.
I think what made me sad was that he was killing the Nimon but not because it killed, but because it was suffering and this was the only way to let it be free, by letting it die.
Someone please tell me that Amy will still be the doctors companion for season 7!! I think it would kill me if she was replaced because truly I think she is the only companion that's an equal to the doctor not just an admirer!
@Elewyn i don't know tbh i rather liked it when it was just her and the doctor traveling. I mean i like rory don't get me wrong but, a married couple on the Tardis just changes the dynamics a bit too much
@RDLproducings I know, I felt bad for Rory... always the person who gets all the tragic event. Dead twice, erase from time, thrown into water, almost killed by silence.... what more they can do to Rory
i dont see how people could even compare closing time to this episode or even the one before it this episode was brilliant but, the one after it closing time was one of those barely allright episodes except for the ending which was very good if only the rest of the episode had been as good as the ending (sigh) they should have used silents instead of cybermen becuase that would have made the episode more coherently linked to the season finale.
I was tearing up at the beginning of this scene, but then "The Life and Death of Amy Pond" started playing in the background and I lost it. That song gets me every time I hear it.
I missed that he called her Amy Williams the first time I watched this ep. It really is like the moment she grows up . . . so sad and so brilliantly well done. Oh, and Rory stuck to the back of the door looked like a Muppet, lol.
This scene made the episode, and made me tear up. Matt and Karen's acting is spot on here...This summed up the Doctor so well and showed Amy(and himself in the process, I think.) the harsh reality of who he is. He's not a hero, he's not a god, and he can't always save the day. He's dangerous, and like he said, he always will be just a mad man with a box. His companions love and want to impress him, but in actuallity, he is leading them to their death, unintentionally. This is sad, but true. :(
I kind of knew that The Doctor would drop Amy & Rory off at the end of the episode, you coudln't have a scene like this and then go back to travelling in The Tardis, I think Matt Smith was superb he has summed up the Doctor in this one scene, he takes peopel and they adore him, they idolise him, love him, do anything for him because he's the most wonderful man, and he loves it, but The Doctor is not a hero or a god, he truly has and always will be just a Mad Man in A Box
I wonder what my room would be...

I love How the Eleventh does say "He's Beautiful" or "Oh, Look at you, Ya Beauty" but the 10th did, Now Amy said it xD
10th(David Tennant) = Scottish, Amy (Karen Gillan)= Scottish
The Answer: We Scots are Awesome! xD

Matt Smith is my doctor.
I don't care. Yes. David Tennant was a great doctor.
But he sure as hell wasn't mine.
