This also contains a PRE-computer 3D animated model -- the swamp thing here was in fact a plaster statue, painted with lines between the vertices, photographed in stop-motion, Xeroxed onto cels and finally painted and photographed alongside the characters. Pretty amazing - the technique was first used in 101 Dalmatians and would pave the way for computer graphics only a few years after.

Looking back, this film seems to take many cues from North By Northwest. Still, it's very unique and stakes out its own territory, better than most other films from the mouse factory. A great moment in animation.

As a kid I always thought Penny from the Rescuers was the same Penny as from Inspector Gadget cause they both have the pigtails and penny from rescuers got adopted and Penny from IG has an uncle gadget who adopted her. pretty silly but i was like 8 or 9 when i had that theory.
