In the Irish Gaelic language there is no word for "NO" we actually say "Not Yes"
Which might, if you think about it let you a little into the Irish psyche.

The reason both of these are slang:
In Irish, when asked a question, one says "it is" in a positive or negative tense. For example:
"Ale is your favourite drink?" "It is." "Do you like the colour purple?" "I don't." "And you are Irish?" "I am." And so forth.
