Strange...I found one a few days ago, and it also had a bunch of mites just under it's head. Is that a common thing for this species? I could imagine it could be a parasitic relationship, but it could just be the mites are along for the ride when it finds a body. If someone who actually knows could tell me, I'd appreciate it :)
and if i found one on ny neck i think i would die ! how can ppl say that somthing that eats dead animals is beautiful ? its doesent even look beautiful A BUTTERFLY MIGHT BE BEAUTIFUL, but a burying beetle.......erm.........no
i had one of those on the back of my neck as i sat at the computer i didnt even know it was there when i realised it was there i had no idea what it was i had never seen one in my liofe before but i thought it was so pretty.
That's Nicrophorus tomentosus, a very widespread and common North American burying beetle species. The endangered "American burying beetle", Nicrophorus americanus, is unique in having orange on the head and pronotum (the body segment behind the head).
You really should edit out the completely out of focus parts before posting... Parts of it are good, though.
