I had one wisdom tooth and a couple of decayed teeth pulled; I'm not done, yet, either. I have to get two more infected teeth extracted next month. I need to see the dentist so he can give me some antibiotics; the pain is extremely and overwhelmingly unbearable. Furthermore, being in the good 'ol USA, I have no dental insurance and have to "pay in full." After my last two extractions are completed and I pay, I have spent over $1,000 on my teeth. O_o

I had four done in one time with just a local anesthetic. I had no swelling, no bleeding and no pain at all. In fact, I was eating steak and chips for tea that night.

My dentist told me that if you go and have them done in a hospital under general, they don't take as much care of your mouth. They can be rougher because you're completely asleep. When done under a local, you still have control of your mouth and can help out opening further or moving your tongue.

I had a wonderful Dentist when I had a wisdom tooth removed that had cracked and shattered in my jaw. Didn't even have to be put under. Jacked me up on Novocaine. Gave me some Oxycodone pills for the next week. Didn't opt to keep the rest of my tooth after. Should have yours looks like an awesome horror story trophy to freak out some friends.

Ouch. I had all four of mine removed just last month. The roots of two of them were twisted under the jaw line and buried amazingly deep. Luckily I was knocked out for the operation.

Odd question. Why do people always assume that when you're still under the effects of anaesthesia (after the operation if over), you do really funny or stupid stuff? The first question all my friends asked me was if I did anything goofy. In all honesty, all I did was sleep for the next three to four days.
