I think I would like it better the opposite way. Is it possible to reverse it? For Example: Have the lights lit all the time. When something touches it or interacts with it they lights turn off in those places. Can this be done?

If I counted correctly, the table has 32 electronic circuit boards. Each board contains 20 LEDs. Divided into 2 x 10 circuits, which flash alternately. So there would be 640 LEDs installed. My Favorite LEDs need 3.3 V forward voltage at 0.02 amps. 5 LEDs would be connected in series with a resistor. Consequently, I'm on 42.24 watts when all LEDs are lit. If half of the LED's light up, I get to 21.12 watts.

That's awesome that the cat doesnt seem to care, like it's just a table and that's how they look. I bet it was chasing the lights everywhere when it first saw that though! Now I understand how the characters in most futuristic, science fiction movies have a sense of normalcy with all the things they use. If it looks cool we will want it and will eventually take it for granted, but hopefully not the latter.

@oskay Indeed that is the problem, when a technology is so efficient as LED's-OLED lights then people find the most stupid ways to waste the possible saving in energy comsumption that in a first moment existed. You will see this lights in pillows, clothes, shoes, nails, floors, and any other things where never was lights. That's the Jevons Paradox. In other word the technology trap. That's why the oil age will end before 2040.

This is great. Seen some stuff like this in the mall nowadays, and it's awesome that this was uploaded in like 2007.

It makes me laugh how most people don't like it because of minor issues such as seeing the circuits, etc. But I am impressed by the innovative creativity; I usually don't understand modern art but I think this is a pretty good example.

I'm guessing it's marketed as a sort of cool "Toy" for people able to afford it, as there's not really any other usage with the current resolution. If it were made into a full LCD, however, then it could have practical uses.

Good concept, but you have absolutely zero idea when it comes to aesthetics. You have a great frame on the table, yet the electronics are so badly laid out under the glass that its an absolute eyesore. You should have used surface mount high intensity leds, you could have made the hollow section under the glass much thinner and more pleasing to the eye - personally id cover that fugly brown/yellow base with a matte black spray paint.
