namath was far from overrated from 1960-1968 he won a state championship in high school, a national title at alabama in college and a super bowl with the jets in 68 a champion at all levels he competed at,from 1970-1977 he missed 58 starts due to injuries 1974 was the only year he played in all the jets games, when joe was healthy wich was not often he was awesome,to say namath was good is like saying picaso was just a painter are jfk was just a president.namath -young-warner-marino were the best
Baltimore's offense was non-existent that day. And, in my opinion, that first field goal attempt was good.
It takes only one touchdown, in one Super Bowl, to be considered a "legend." Namath was good, but he's perhaps the most overrated sports athlete of all time.
@hotprofdude I think the wikipedia says it best. He wasn't the best quarterback, but it's the other things he did that make him so popular, on top of the decent quarterbackiness.
Yep, that was the start of the Colts nightmare, then again there was the fle flicker play....the Matte fumble at the begining of the 3rd quarter. Countless others.
I was at this game ,I was 13 years old, my seat was in the upper deck in the west end zone, my ticket was 10.00.

Many reasons. One of wich, the sounds you hear coming from the field.

I had forgotten how cool it looks for a player to make a great play and just flip the ball to the ref instead of celebrating like a seven year old.

"Namath, white hot, 9-out-of-13."

@lasigmaman 69.2% isn't mediocre by any means. True, the leaders this year were close to that for the season, yet that is still damn good..

I think the NFL should go back to the wider hash marks. It would make field goals more difficult.
