All species of scorpions are poisonous for their preys (mostly insects, for which they are always deadly) but a very small number of the over 1050 known species can be dangerous to humans. The scorpion’s venom is comprised of a variety of compounds, most of which have not been investigated. The venom from a single scorpion may include several neurotoxins, histamine, serotonin, enzymes, enzyme inhibitors, and other unidentified compounds. Each neuro
I'm overseas now in the Middle East, and I wish this vid didn't keep saying how it's uncommon in the United States. The point is to educate people about scorpion stings wherever they are. I keep trying to learn more about them and all I find is about how there are not many poisonous ones "in the States" well that doesn't help me. There was a baby one in my bathroom last week.
My dad took a lot of scorpion bites and they didnt cause problems, but weirdly when a small baby scorpion bit him his whole body swole up and it cost promblems alright.
After the first Bark Scorpion sting in our household 6 years ago, we called poison control and the closest hospital. They said, essentially, "watch for signs of allergy (itchy lips, facial/tongue swelling), otherwise don't bother coming in, there's nothing we can do." 15+ stings and six years later, we've learned that all you can do is take an antihistamine to slow the spread and reduce the pain, put an ice pack on it to help the pain a bit, and wait it out.
Different levels of consciousness-Ha! trippin' on scorpion venom! Actually I've heard of junkies purposely stinging themselves to handle the withdrawal. They say it almost has an opioid effect.
I was stung by my friend's emperor scorpion when he wasn't home. I hardly knew anything about scorpion bites at the time and I truly thought I was going to die :P actually it was very scary. I called 911 (yes :P) and told them an emperor scorpion bit me. The person directed me to poison control and they laughed and said there was nothing to worry about :D
Thank you, I did get stung, in my bed. I was asleep, it was an awful pain, and burning. I developed one huge swelling and rash. I went to hospital, they weren't sure what bit me, but I believe it was a scorpion. We live in the desert. I got a tetnis shot and now I am taking 2 antibiotics, and a cream I put on the infected area. This is NOT something that should be overlooked, it is serious, thanks for the video.

1) they are not poisonous, they are venemous
2) they are all venemous, so you cant say "if it is a venemous scorpion" cos they all are
