My album has been long gone too... I saw these guys open a show at Madison Square Garden in 1970. It was Brethren, Buddy Miles, And Ten Years After. What a F' in show ! I never forgot Midnight Train !
I grew up with Tommy, His first group that I remember was the Elegant Four, then Wendigo, we used to go up to the Poe Cozy Nook when he was in town (the Bronx) and listen to him , he was a one man show. He had one of the greatest talents! Hope he's doin well. Hey Tommy!
I am proud to say I own 2 Brethren albums, and have enjoyed them for over 30 years. One of my favorite pieces of guitar work is from their first album. The song is "Success Brand Oil" You have got to get to the used record stores to find them. Not likely to find a down load. Good stuff still enjoyed on my Pioneer PL-400 turntable through my Sansui G6000. Ya gotta have the vintage stuff man!
Stu Woods on bass, Tommy Cosgrove on Guitar and vox. He also wrote all (or most) of the tunes, including this one. I am proud to say that I have been playing with Tommy since 1972 and still do when I can pry him out of the house. He's every bit as talented as he sounds on this track. A regular Joe Walsh!
I can't remember the kbd player's name. He wasn't a bandmember.

Wow, finally someone put this up. Anyone know where this can be found? I'm pretty sure it's in the family vinyl archive but I'd like to either download it or get a CD. Any ideas?
Actually, it was the Capitol Theatre in Portchester NY, owned by Howard Stein (as opposed to the The Capitol Theatre in Passaic NJ, owned by John Scher.)
I can see why those drums have been sampled so much, classic song.

Does anyone have the second album? In particular, can anyone post Loop Garoo? What a classic!

This is one of those drum breaks that you wouldn't even need to chop. It's straight up hip-hop drums from '69!

Mike Garson is on keyboards. He joined the band shortly after completiion of the first album, and stayed until the band ended in late 1971.

Rick Marrotta's first band from the 70's.
Bretheren was the opening act for Stevie Winwood and Traffic at the Portchester Theater on Halloween and put on one helluva show.
What a treasure to find. My copy is long gone, so thanks so very much for posting it!
Do we get any more? (Smile)
