From what I gather she's seems to be extremely intelligent. My guess is she's one of those rare individuals who could excel in any field they're interested in, whether it's artistic/scientific or something more abstract like mathematics. I'm just glad she decided to be a violinist :)

Hey Hilary.... I heard you talk about your medical trip down to Central America on you tube.  I'm in optometry school right now studying at Inter American Univ in Puerto Rico. Hilary, if you see this, here is a good question for you. When I first began to study violin myself, my teacher said that before I could begin studying, I had to sing scales in tune. Her belief was that if you can't sing it, you can't play it, at least on violin. Do you subscribe to that principle?

Hilary, I enjoy reading your journal. You have an ability to engage the reader and you obviously enjoy observing people. You are obviously a roving anthropologist disguised as a world class violinist. No one can penetrate this facade! A mere ordinary violinist would be unmasked at once. An accomplished master of the instrument could stealthily infiltrate society and covertly disseminate her observations to her co-conspirators.
