  • uh ok... yep... now i need new underpants!

  • This thing sounds absolutely incredible! It's probably the most aggressive sound I've ever heard from an exhaust.

  • how about you try some heel and toe matey :D

  • @FormulaVeeRacer1200

The owner isn't a race driver. I think he'd have been concentrating on not killing himself to be honest. You would be if you tried driving it.

  • There just aren't aren't enough videos about this car to make me feel OK about not owning it. If there were more vids I'd still feel like crap about never having any personal experiences with this car ;(

  • VRRRRRRROOO

    :D

    3 seconds later

    VRR-O-OO-_______

    :l

  • They at least need to build replicas of this if they wont revive the project, and I don't care if replica is stamped on every body part or the word replica is a decal on it as long as they reproduce it down to every last detail. This car is missed by many and hasn't been in public spotlight for AGES. Please return to us ;(

  • Oh what a beast

  • Umm I can hear the sound.

  • Sound works for me

  • One of angriest sounding V12's ever!

  • He didn't push the car as far as he could have out of fear of the car getting loose and crashing since it's one of a kind it can't be replaced. 960+hp on a 1000kg (just over 2200lbs) frame. I hope all of you cocky wannabe Speed12 drivers realize that this car has no power steering or power brakes and the car can break the rear tires loose with out warning at the worst possible time. Heavy brakes and clutch with a light touch and go accelerator mean trouble. Owning this car is on my wish list.

  • it may be junk to you but what do you have, lets see. I have a mclarien, 2 lotus, 2 ferrari, lamborghini countach, porsche 959, pantera, gto judge, 2 zr 1 and 2008 z06, real estate east and west coast, yacht, speed boat, and cabin cruiser, 5 harleys 2 hummers, 1 caddy, 2 bmw, and what do you have to be able to comment. please lets see the proof "klimacs" I assure you you own nothing and you are poor, so please have some class and know your place in life. you are made to serve not be served.

  • @MrFtroop72 Please learn to spell McLaren right. I am beginning to think you are a liar. You never said what kind of McLaren you owned. I bet you meant MacLaren stroller but then again all the good cars go to rich assholes like the Ferrari dbag that can't drive (watch: I wonder where Ferrari drivers get their bad reputation). Anyways, Kudos to Satan for ceating the Speed12. I like the steel engine block they used as well; a much welcomed change from over used materials like aluminum and iron.

  • junk

  • @MrFtroop72 you are way to judgmental. Your shit Lotus and shitty old Ferrari are junk as far as I'm concerned to. I wouldn't have said that to you normally but since you judge I judge. Least you're smart enough to drive a Chevy truck and have a ZR1 so ya got that going for ya at least.

  • he's even short shifting on the fucking straight!, what a fucking faggot - Give me a go in this car - I'll show you what to do with it - you're just a waste of life, may as well confine it to the museum now.

  • learn to shift... sick car...

  • what a machine.. unbelievable

  • DUDE WHAT THE HELL! Remove the Music >.<

  • why are the people on the top blaming youtube? its who uploaded this video (tvrcerveraspeed12) faults.

  • Trading: my mother 1961 model slight signs of use great for house work and other chores

will trade for a TVR Carberra Speed 12

  • @xq914 Sorry to lay it on you but I heard she has already been bought for a rock!!!!

  • I cannot believe that this car is being driven this way. It's almost like it's being driven by someone who has only been driving stick for a few months.

  • @xilix Being probably the only one in existence and with no spare parts available, I presume he wants to keep it in one piece! :D

  • @dominicrusho here are some spare parts... there's a guy currently building a second one from scratch, using spare parts leftover from the factory. There's a thread on it with photos on pistonheads somewhere, though I think there'sstilla fair bit of work left.

  • nice video . thank you

  • Great vid- too bad the driver doesnt even know how to heel and toe though. He's probably a regular guy who just happens to be an auto enthusiast and likes racing, not a pro.

  • @TVRCerberaSpeed12 i wanna thank you for sharing this video.this car is so rare that if you get a chance to see one you are one lucky son of a bitch. Such a rare brutal legendary monster.this car will destroy any modern super including the veyron and ssc.

  • Oof, the sound of raw power. Forget your Veyron's, F1's and the like, this is the true beast.

  • Supercars today have all sorts of elecronic aids to flatter the driver. The rich posers and posh twats who drive around in their lambos and ferraris these days would get chewed up and spat out by this monster!

  • Picture the seen.... turning up to work in this.... fuck !

  • fucking awesome...

  • so angry :)

  • holy shit i think the god of thunder just crapped.

  • If only the Russian school boy would put into production.

  • True. But this thing is 2200lbs with like 800 hp!

Power to weight ratio is SICK!

  • detroit diesel 4t. 1k lbs torque less than 2k rpm. big rig motor

  • the speed 12 is fun to drive

  • Cavesloth

TVR cancelled the Speed 12 after Peter Wheeler deemed it was too powerful for a road car with no ABS. They took it GT racing, but pulled out after a rule change. They built one for the road from the remains of the racing car. It was sold to an individual vetted by Peter Wheeler himself about 10 years ago. As far as I know its still around, and may it be around for some time yet.

    Hope that helps.

  • Whats happening with the Speed 12, I havnt heard about it in ages! would be great to know that someones still out there keeping it on the road!

  • Brutal TVR, says it all.

  • one of my favorite cars ever

  • insane-it sounds like the devil...shame they never got this into production.

  • What a monster! <3

  • i realy love this car!

  • The music is awesome guys, that's Tony Levin on bass....bow down and respect!

  • I love this car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh my GOD! What song was it, so I can boycott the music?

  • I almost came, but youtube fucked it up, BY TAKING THE FUCKING SOUND OUT!!! DICKS

  • sounds back :)

  • FUUUCK!! FUUUUUCK!!! how can you watch a vid about a car like that WITHOUT SOUND!!!!!!!! FUCK YOU YOUTUBE

  • FUCKING CUNTS!!!!

I've been looking for this video for months after I accidentally found it a few months. The sound is possibly the most amazing one to ever emerge from an exhaust and now I can't hear it!!!

    Youtube, you suck!!!

  • @evans808274mc9la The sound is at 1:08 you fucking idiot

  • oh fuck where is the fucking sound? damm youtube

  • What a beast!!! Sounds great!! Looks like it has alot more potential to go quicker

  • Awful downchanges, no attempt to heal and toe.

Lot more practice needed with that car before the driver can get a flying lap in.

  • Its got straight cut gears, you don't need to heel and toe in it.

  • Yeah, because he wants to do a flying lap in an 820 hp 2,000 LB, one-off road car with no assists.

  • Far, far too extreme for any roads. Truly, the only road car I know to remain untamed.

  • its not nürburgring, it says up there "Silverstone" that means silverstone internacional circuit!! DUH!!

BTW nice vid I love this car

  • This is such an great iconic car..like the mclaren F1, but without the BMW engine..

  • Glorious noise! Unmistakably TVR. So glad you didn't ruin this with loud music drowning out the engine, as what unfortunately happens on here alot.

    Nice.

  • i agree to xturbo the car sounds fucking angry lol

  • what a motherfucking beast...!!!!

  • thats mental

  • THE SOUND IS JUST SO BRUTAL ! I LOVE IT !

  • LOOOOOL??

    this is nürburgring.

  • Its not nurburgring, its silverstone. When he exits the pits at 1:20ish he is between stowe corner and club corner. Then later on he goes through some random infield bit I think

  • ur retarded

  • LOOOOOL??

u r stupid this is not nurburgring

  • your mums ass is bigger than the ring

  • hahahaha

    u think u r funny right???

  • Maybe i was stupid when i saw this first.

    :P

how can i see that this was nurburgring lol.

maybe because i drive alot on nurburgring on pgr2 and pgr3 racing games

  • To the folks below me, play nice. Just appreciate the video for what it is: The unsung hero of super cars thundering around a track at high speed.

  • awesome vid. pity the driver is shit, surprised they let someone who can't change gears properly drive it. oh well, its usually the case that the rich get the toys they can't use properly...

  • Couldn't have put it better myself!

  • Ive noticed that most super car drivers cant shift gears.

  • Ok, so we'll put you in this car and see how you cope shall we? It's got a sequential gear box in it, that's why it sounds funny at first.

  • Yes please. It's not a matter of coping, it's a matter of driving. Our FSAE car is sequential & we still manage to rev match on shifts. Had it been wet, then the driver of the Speed 12 would most likely have crashed due to the compression locking effect. That's why he is not very good.

  • I still think this car would eat you for breakfast mate. The very fact the guy can drive it is a testiment to his abilities. By all accounts, it's one of the hardest cars in the world to drive.

  • you are speaking from experience??? it seems that all of your comments are founded on Gran Turismo, and are therefore invalid. Watch the video again. Listen to the car. It sounds like a typical shite driver not understanding that dumping a car into gear coming into a corner is not only bad for the drivetrain but for balance as well. These are the people who should only be allowed in automatics. OR, learn to drive

  • I've only made one references to GT on here!

I'd like to take you up on the 'dumping the car into gear' comment. Going into a corner, you need to be ready to accelerate as hard out of it as possible. In a powerful rear wheel drive car such as the 12, you have to go into the corner slowly (otherwise you may have a spin out). Putting the car in a lower gear has two effects: it slows the car (making it more controllable), and also makes the car ready to accelerate hard out of the corner.

  • Take me up eh? Fair enough. Yes, putting the car in a lower gear will slow the car & make it ready for accel. out of the corner. However, doing so in this drivers way will not do the car or lap times any good. Imagine you are in 6th gear at 200km/h. You then ram the gear lever into 1st gear. The engine cannot keep up with the wheels, and so the wheels have no choice but to lock (or annihilate the drive train). Therefore, balance is lost and the car will behave badly. Same concept here

  • Oh, I fully agree with you on that, but putting the car down 1 to 2 gears to get the engine in the power band of the engine is a must, otherwise you come out of the corner too slowly. However, going too far down the gears won't do you any good.

Now, the Speed 12 driver only knocked it down 1 or 2 gears at a time to keep the engine in its power band. It's a fucking bitch to drive though, it'd kill most people.

  • Yes but it's the way he changes. That's the whole point. The concept is the same whether changing from 6th to 1st or 2nd to 1st or 3rd to 2nd etc. Try it in your car. Drive up to a corner in 3rd gear then change to second and dump the clutch. The car will lurch forward. Why? because the engine is trying to keep up with the wheels, meaning that you unbalance the car. Bad? YES. especially in a race situation. I am a 4th year mechanical engineering student. I know what i am on about

  • Well what gear would you go to? 3rd to second is logical. The car does lurch forward yes, as it's engine braking. As I'm a good driver I don't dump the clutch, I let it up relitvely smoothly. It helps slow the car, and get it in the right rev range for power out of the corner. There's no way round it, you have to use engine braking aswell as normal foot braking to slow the car. Anyhow I don't drive fast in a Fiat Punto 1.2, simply because it doesn't do fast. ;-)

  • as i've said previously, it's not the fact of changing gear. it's the method. learn how to heel-toe down shift & you will notice the difference.

  • How would heel and toe effect it? As far as I know heel and toeing is used by race drivers on the accelerator and brake to regulate their speed through a corner? What's heel and toe downshifting?

  • Heel & toe is for any driver wishing to be smooth. Left foot braking is used mid corner to regulate speed. Heel & toe downshifting involves braking & downshifting as normal, but as you shift you blip the throttle with your heel (your toes are on the brake). Usually, with close spaced pedals, you really use half your foot to brake & half to blip the throttle. Watch a V8 supercar in car foot cam for example. Or even better, Walter Rohrl on pikes peak

  • Why does blipping the throttle help? I'd have thought revving the car more as you change down gear would make it speed up, and as the gears engage, that'd cause it to be more jittery and juddery?

  • The throttle blip is done when the car is in nuetral and the clutch engaged to the engine. The blip brings the engine revs up to match the road speed for the next lowest gear, and also matches the speed of the input shaft in the gearbox to rest of the gear cluster (in the case of a racing gearbox with no syncro's). This stops the drivetrain "locking up" because of the engine speed being too low for the road speed in the lower gear.

  • When you say clutch engaged to the engine, do you mean the clutch is down, or the clutch is up but there is no gear selected?

The Speed 12 has a 6 Speed Hollinger Sequential Gear Box btw, if this helps......

  • With a sequential you can't select neutral in between gears, so that part only applies to regular tranmissions with syncros. In this video he should have been pressing the clutch pedal and bringing the revs up before he selects the next gear down... Just watch some V8 supercars, watch their feet and listen to the sound of the engine. Sounds different to this video on each gear change.

  • What the fuck does knowing how to change a spark plug have to do with knowing how to drive?

'Student' says it all, come back when you've gained some experience from the real world, not from your textbooks.

  • lol, funny thing is, uni doesn't teach you how to change a sparkplug, not that it should. Being in a racing team does teach you real world experience, however. Not to mention the fact that real world experience is what taught me the driving techniques i've been describing above. Not sure where you got the knowing how to change a spark plug thing from. That would imply practical knowledge which you are accusing me of not having wouldn't it???

  • That engine roar at 4:07 as it pulls up makes my spine tingle. I wish I could've seen it for real, just once. :-(

  • i think what your thinking of was on a clarkson video (not top gear) were it was being driven by a racing driver and he spun it. clarkson himself didnt drive it.

  • Clarkson wasnt allowed to drive it!

  • ah i think it was a race car (version) what is very simliar to the road ones... ;-)

  • sorry guys, but i am aktually not a loudmouth and i really respect the driver (to handle that thing), but he drive this beast without between gas at downshifting... thats poor! also not on upshifting! he ruin his transmisson faster as he think! and for all idiots who spam my comment: i had a griffith 500, currently a m3 (e36 3.2 6 speed) and a yama r1!!! i know what i am talking about! anyway... awesome vid!!! thanks for that!

  • best car ever made

  • This is the greatest automobile ever.

  • ahhh at last! a decent video of the greatest car ever made, man thats such an amazing sound, absolutely un-touchable. Thankyou very much for sharing :)

  • there were two sold i belive THE GREATEST CAR EVER NEVER TO BE BEATEN

  • What a sound :) GREAT !!

  • The engine is 2 Tuscan Engines (straight 6) welded together to make the 7.7 litre V12 and what a noise! too bad it was never put into production. they should have just made 100 or so just experimental at least i think.

  • it not, think about it, 3.6+3.6=7.2?? the 4.0+4.0=8 so its not true! :) besides if you have seen a SP12 Engine its completly different to a tuscan engine!

  • i have seen the speed 12 engine at the factory and thats what i was told by one of the mechanics. the layout is similar and then valves are widened or something along those lines. and aston martin V12s look nothing like mondeo V6s but they are 2 mondeo engines put together

  • Ok fair enough.. Ill have to ask my Dad he sold 2 of these SP12's to the prodigy boys but they never got them.. but it was at the time of the first SP12 not this one shame I love this car I have always wanted a Cerbera and when this came out it was the icing on the cake hehe!

  • haha yeah i lover cerberas too. My uncle used to own a cerbera 4.2 years and years ago, a couple of years after they were released but costs a bomb to run. probably how i started to live TVRs in the first place. met peter wheeler on one of my factory tours once back in about 2001. we also put a deposit down on the Tuscan mk2 when it came out (because the sagaris was too expensive although was a bit better) but it all fell through somehow :(.

  • my favourite car so amezing

    awesome sound

  • TVR Cercera Speed 12 the best, i love this car ...

  • I agree with the first comment the greatest supercar ever! I really do, the noise is just enough to make you...??? aha! and I remember the first Speed 12 when it was launched it was beating Mclaren F1's hand over fist in the GT Championship.. but this machine GOD is it amazing! (WHY HASNT IT BEEN ON TOP GEAR!! GRrr) bit late now TVR are made in Austria now haha! booger! :(

  • thanks for sharing, enjoyed lots.

  • Awsome noise

  • Thank you very much for this video. I am once again wishing that I could see this car in person.

  • And this vid was added on my birthday. The icing on the cake for me!

  • Fanbloodytastic..........

  • C'mon! Greatest Supercar ever?! I think so! So damn fast!
