  • ones a male and ones a female...

  • what about two female bettas in a betta divider tank?i have them in a divider tank and i tried to put them in a 1.5 and they still fight.how do i get them not to fight in a divider tank or a 1.5?!?!?!?

  • @godfather99x get a bigger tank i just bought 5 female betta's yesterday that i bought out of the same tank from the fish shop that way they all knew eachother came over together on the ride home and i havent had any aggression at all in the first 48hrs so naturally im very suprised but in groups the females establish a pecking order you need groups of no less than 4 and they had already done so in the store fish tank... they need real plants and hiding places good luck

  • i had 3 male betta together in my 55 gallon tank. once they establish their pecking order they pretty much left each other alone, i made 4 area for them to claim as their own. 3 on the gravel bed and i silicone a tray on the end side of my tank, 3/4 the way up, opposite of my filter. each area was planted for cover, and seperated only by open gravel. so the myth that male betta can't live together...BUSTED

  • nope its probably breeding season

  • Your tank needs a backboard. Without one your fish will be more stressed.

  • This is a rare combination. Male is non-aggressive and feeling indifference while establishing his territory, while the female is non-aggressive and shy. It probably won't happen the second time once they die, lol.

  • beautiful male, Do you breed? any for sale?

  • that male has no interest in that female whatsoever

  • Prepare for babies

  • great, you picked a clam pair, no flaring, they almost met up and still nothing! awesome!

  • these are how my bettas acted when i put them together but the male would always be on top and the female on the bottom of the tank

  • @101bluebuddy that is because this is where thy feel safe. The male likes to prowel the top, partolling his territoory, while the female hides at the bottom, if she is not ready to breed

  • @reininghorses57 false

  • @Rapter1985 What makes you so sure? Are you a betta expert or somthing? This is what they do in the wild, and what my breeding pairs do too. And if it is false, then what is correct?

  • I would have NEVER recommended this and I still think you should *never* do this ever. BUT**** They seem perfectly fine. You've picked a nice and calm pair that get along very well together. I didn't even see flaring, however this is VERY risky. I really don't recommend anyone to try this ever again. You could still end up with a fry!

  • @PonyGurl99 You can safely put together a male and a female until they breed... But after the breeding, gotta take them apart.

  • @PonyGurl99 Hye..I am new to betta..so I wanna ask why we should not mix both male and female? What's wrong if they mate up?

  • @rayyanputra Bettas do not live together in the wild. They only come together to mate. Keeping 2 bettas together can often be stressful for the fish.

  • @HumanBehindTheDog Thanks! ^^

  • @HumanBehindTheDog I don't know if that is true but I have a female and male betta together in my 26 gal community tank and they get along great. The female generally stays on her own but when they're together they don't nip or anything.

  • @Lisa41794 As a general rule of thumb for an average fish keeper, it is true. However, in some cases, you may not have issues. From a care specialists point of view, I would never suggest keeping the animals together. You cannot assume people know how to realize when its dangerous. Having them in a community tank is a different circumstance then in a small tank by themselves. Again though, I cannot trust people to know when it isnt working so as a rule of thumb, I advise against it. Cheers!

  • @HumanBehindTheDog actually this is not true take a five inch oscar and five one inch neon tetras, of course because of its eating habits the oscar would produce a far larger mess than the five tiny neon tetras and filter strength is also a common factor that is forgotten good luck ^-^

  • @Lisa41794 My suggestion to everyone is not to allow yourself to be responsible for telling someone its safe. When they lose their fish dont be the one who caused the poor choice. Say no to others about mixing Bettas.

  • Generally, a male will fight for dominance; once the female stops, they may mate, and make babies ^.^

  • you might want to do some more research, if males and females fought, the species would go extinct.

  • @Sol7KJR Males and females do fight. Its territory regardless of gender. Even when they are properly conditioned, the female will get pretty beat up during the mating process. Unless Ms.Sxybabykitten is trying to breed them, the male would be better off alone. Females can live together under the right conditions, though, in a sorority tank. I will say that the tank does seem to have lots of good hiding places, which would make this experiment a lot safer for the fish.

  • @Sol7KJR You might want to do some reasearch, once you put a male and a female betta together, they breed and then the male chases the female away, since they are in an inclosed tank where she can't get away, he will end up most likely killing her. Thats why you can only keep male and female bettas together when they are breeding. You take the female out after they have bred.

  • cute :3

  • hide and seek lol

  • @TheOdddellarobia 1. Your betta might not like the food, so try something else. 2. The main reason is most likely because he is getting used to his surrondings and doesnt have an appetite. Wait a week and try to feed him, also dont EVER over feed them!

  • its it hey people i need HELP! my beta doesnt eat and i got him yesterday

when my beta eats some thing he spback out please give me advise!!!!!!

    :'(

  • @TheOdddellarobia that happened with my red mickey moused platy but i found out why... is there anything stressing your fish cause mine didn't eat cause my molly was bullying her so i took him back the 2nd day brought home another molly and she was eating day 3 :) made me soo happy to see her eat for the first thing and not hide all day long... sad though cause her tail fine shows where he nipped at her

  • male fish-K so this is how its going down, you stay on your fucking side, and ill stay on mine, female fish-mmk

  • you do relise that you could end up with fry right i sugest you watch a beata breeding vidio

  • actually they fight because the male tries to dominate the female to mate

  • How big is the tank

  • Did they ever breed??

  • i bet there dead now :/

  • I had a betta with a pretty goldfish they never had problems

  • There not fighting because its a female and a male

  • love couple =)

  • i have a king tail beta in the same tank with 2 other bigger fish

  • The female looks very much like one of my girls!

  • Ones male ones female that's why they don't fight

  • @GhillieSniper115 necessarily the female CAN fight and WILL, but some of them won't, i had a female and she tried to attack the male...... :/

  • Well duh it's a male and a female not both are males

  • um ones male and ones female only the males fight females get along with any thing males are the ones u have to worry about

  • I like this but I'm so nervous bcuz I have a male betta named captain and we bought small female and I got new stuff for his tank and I put him in a different bowl and when it was set up I put the female in the cage while the male was in a different cage. I am worried they r gonna fight!

  • @peacepixie123 of course they will fight and the male will definitely kill the female which is why you never ever ever put them together. since you seem new to betta fish : males never live with males or females unless breeding.

Females can live with other Females but in group of four or more depending on tank size.

please check out betta fish dot com for betta care info

  • @Demoness82 actually i have had betta fish for 7 years and i know they r gonna fight so i took them out so they hav a seperater and its just a fish but thanks for trying to help

  • i hade 2 batas in a tank with a seperater and thay broke the seperater, but i think they broke it cauz they wanted to be together, its been over a year and there both still alive and friends XD

  • This is a nice tank, and it's very roomy, I am new to tropical fish keeping but wheres the aeration? if there isn't any contstant surface movement, no carbon dioxide will be made, it will make your tank stagnant?

  • The male looks exactly like my old fish Rave. I was so proud of him and I wouldn't trade him for anything. But then a kid suffocated him. I cried when I saw this. Cause this is how Raven was. he didn't care who was in his tank. R.I.P Raven.

  • well is that a delta tail??

  • That is so cute they do not even look at each other. Why is it that those fish can live in peace and we cannot?

  • THIS IS A BAD IDEA. NEVER PUT A MALE AND A FEMALE TOGETHER UNLESS YOU ARE BREEDING. NEVER PUT ANY BETTAS TOGETHER!

  • did your male ever attack the female? i have 5 females and 1 male in the same tank and he isnt bothered at all by any of them. he has never attacked them, doesnt even flare at them. the only thing he has done, is follow one of them around for a bit then he goes off and does his own thing

  • my first betta i put into a seprate tank, cause of what i heard they can do, but aftter the years i decided to put him in with my gold fish to see if he would, note this was before i knew they might attack goldfish anyway he has been in a tank with them for over 1 year now and not hurt a single one, is he sick?

  • well thats a female the one without the awesome tail

  • I dont mean to sound rude but even if they seem not to be doing anything together right now they will have many problems. you should only house male and female bettas together if they are going to spawn. Also They will spawn or he will eventually kill her or she will attack him.

So if they do spawn you are in a heap of trouble because the fry will die off in the gravel and you have no live food or any of the other things to care for them to adulthood. so please i hope they were taken out. Thnx

  • I am keeping a betta along with my 14 other fishes including 3 large carps and a pair of sharks which are about 4 inch in length . my tank has 7 goldies also . as the name :fighter fish" projects, i still have not faced any problm while keeping betta along with others

  • they dont fight because it's male and female

  • how big is the tank their in, we have a male and female betta seperate in a 3 gallon tank ( with divider up ) and want the to be together, they never flare up at each other or anything and have plenty of hiding spots for the female if we remove the divider.

  • my betta fish killed my emperor angel!!

  • One is a female thats why. I have a male and female together as well

  • you shouldnt have fake plants..

  • the betta is the best type of gourami

  • how do they reproduce if there fighting all the time

  • i put my female and male bettas in the same tank. five minutes later, the male just swam close to the female. the female freaked out! she swam to another corner. after 2 more minutes, i separated them.

  • @jman2280 they were starting to mate and she was making him chase her

  • Oh yeah there not fighting but good luck when you have 30 betta fry....

  • @cottoncandy946 more like 200 ;-)

  • male + female=love

  • are they lovers? they must be, or else they would kill each other

  • ones a female *caugh caugh*

  • @rockaboyhalla Way to fail at spelling.

  • those fish are jsut wierd lol ur lucky they aren't fighting

  • @DrumOffEdge22 they arent fighting cuz ones a female!

  • I changed my beta fish's water. Something went wrong with it! Its body is facing downward head to bottom of the bowl. It's still breathing. I think I injured it. What should I do?

  • It's probably sick. google the symptoms and some common illnesses of betta fish.

Then go to a pet store, or walmart if you have to, and get some medicine.

  • My beta did the same thing. He snapped out of it. I moved him to a new room that was warmer. Also, when changing the water, leave at least half of the old water in. I usually fill a 2 liter bottle up with water and then let the the chlorine evaporate which usually takes 48 hours. Keep the bottle in the same room as your fish tank so they will be the same temperature.

  • I am soooo sorry!

  • I'm sorry about that. =[

  • GUYS they do attack each other even if they are male and female. They may have laid back personalities but most of the time they will fight each other.

  • @LiesnSuch2 Its just normal aggression. With a big enough tank and lots of fish there usually isnt a problem (I had a 10 gal betta community tank). People don't realize that there are many aggressive aquarium fish ...not just the betta. I actually had more trouble with my African cichlids then I had with bettas (although by removing a troublesome fish the problem was solved).

  • @LiesnSuch2 no they will not fight if there is enuf room to make territories

  • @honeypregno ... which there isn't in the tank in the video.

  • @honeypregno Clearly this "tank" does not have ENOUGH room. Seriously. They need like 50 gallons. Bettas are called fighting fish for a reason. You cant innate animal behavior...

  • @LiesnSuch2 FEMALES CAN BE KEPT TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but the male WILL attack the female if aggressive

  • @bettarescuer Females can be kept together in a 10gal+ tank with at least 5 females and a lot of hiding places, they cant be plopped together in a tiny tank like this one or they will fight. This tank this person is keeping the male and female in is not a breeding tank. Sure they might not attack right away but soon enough there will be some bloodshed, or the female is be very stressed out because of the male pursuing her.

  • @LiesnSuch2 unless they are conditioned.

This person could have conditioned her beta before putting them together.

  • @LiesnSuch2 yeah MOST of then time not all the time!

  • @LiesnSuch2 DUDE. Only if they arent a mated pair.... and only if they've already had the babies.

  • @LiesnSuch2 The male will attack at her only if i is not ready to mate they must be ready

  • @LiesnSuch2 i have a male and two females in a tank together with other fish and a fiddler crab and they all live in harmony! the male chases the tiny fishy but never bites, and his ladies love him ;)

  • Are you calling me stupid samwich?

  • They are female and male! They don't usually attack idiot.

  • wow dude u really must be stupid

  • Ummmm yeah they do. They will mate then the feamale will lay her eggs and the male will kill the female COMMON KNOWLEDGE!!!!! Do your reasearch before you do or say stupid things.

  • actually yeah they do. a lot of betta owners suffer when a betta of the opposite sex jumps over a divider and tears the other betta to shreds. =/

  • They don't attack each other cos they r male and female, right??

    Male : long fins

    Female : short fins

  • @jacho80 yes you would be correct

  • i have a blue one i got it from Santa

  • for anybody's information..

these types of bettas are not supposed to be compared to their wild counterparts..you can't find betta like these in the wild..all you'll find are the short finned ones..and probably plakats..you won't see crowntails normally in the wild..these have been produced in fish farms by breeders through selective breeding..so they need different living conditions..

  • They may live together but I can assure you that the female is very stressed out - I bet if she was in her own tank she would get bright red - but the stress is causing her to be whitish -- poor girl =(

  • but u dont no that, i have had plenty of wite and red females and males, they may not be stressed out, but i may be rong and u rite or the other way around, i just sayen

  • Shes a cambodian. Thats why her body is whitish and her fins have colors

  • How cute!!! he looks really mellow good tank lots of hiding places

  • the male and female can live with each other but breeding is something else...

  • did your bettas ever lay eggs?

  • the only time you need to worry about the male killing the female is after mating then he gets aggressive cuz hes protecting the eggs, otherwise hes fine, gonna hav alot of babies soon :)

  • the small 1 iz a female and the big 1 iz a male

  • what kind of betta is that male?

  • veil tail

  • or crown tail sounds better

  • its a crowntail, veil tails do not have that big of a tail,

crowntails do and not to mention theyre probably the only type of betta

who can start off black, go to blue, indigo, the purple then red.

and they have cute tails but hes also showing off his tail. :]

  • In the wild, betta fish live in small pockets of water in rice patties. That tank is actually a very nice size for a betta. I have several bettas, one male, and two females living in seperate habitats that are each about a quart. they are perfectly happy and healthy and display to eachother frequently.

  • Wow..... I really don't remember posting that??? at all sorry about that...

  • I'm sorry the Petco sign are not always right. Betta do not live in "small pockets" of water in rice patties. They live in the flooded field.

  • actually your wrong,

bettas at the store are from either fish farms or breeders.

our bettas have never even been in the wild! they were raised on fish farms, ect

plakats are wild bettas and look alot like mosquito fish! and they also live in fast currents BUT they have a VERY VERY smail tail, so your wrong and your actually hurting your bettas.

  • Have you ever seen a rice paddy? Look them up on google and then tell me how small you think they are. How would the bettas even get the fighting instinct if they never met in the wild?

  • like you've worked in a rice paddy

  • lol your pretty lucky that hes not really agressive and that the female has a lot of hiding places to keep away from the male

  • dang he got sooo lucky his fish are nice 2 eachother..

  • thts becuz one of them is a female and the male was ready to be a daddy lol

  • hhaha how d ofemale and male fight hehehe you got a nice male there congrats!!!!

  • if u put dem together wont dey do it???

  • Beta fish dont need filters or notun, they cime up to the surface to beath air it so COOL!

  • Haha, mine r like that too. Theyre in love XD

  • mine also has a current, however I only turn it on once a day fro like an hour because i feel like the bubbles disturb the fish and make them nervous so i rather not leave it on the whole day

  • What kind of filter do you use? I have a Hang on Back that makes a really strong current. I see no current in yours. Can you tell me? thx

  • aqua clear filters are the best...help the biological part, the maintnence and disease part

  • bettacare101.googlepages. com

  • That's a male and a female, they are not supposed to fight.

  • LOL. I know right. The smaller red one is a female. LOL. this is so funny.

  • They do, but they don't kill each other :P

  • good fish to house betta with are adf(african dwarf frogs) or various types of shrimp.

  • My betta attacked my 2 ADF's twice within the first 30min. Had to take him out cause the ADF's were there first. :(

  • The bettas that are sold here are a bunch of pussies. After 200 generations of breeding the fight is gone. Put a real one in there and watch him shred the females too. LOL!

(animal cruelty! Oh noes! LOL peta freaks)

Perhaps you should learn about the fish before giving misguided information.

  • sigh! my female betta died two days ago...lol and they were separated...perhaps the male started stressing her out....I just got a male blue dwarf gourami to replace her...separator is in place..they told me that this would be fine bc the gourami are community fish...But I am starting to see them fight..i might just separate them...

  • Yeah lol pet store employee's (Depending if its a chain or a private owned) ppl doesnt know much about fishes. just wait till there done talking and ask them a obvious question

Can you put 2 male bettas together

A:Yes male bettas Love company you can definately keep them together

  • pet store employees get a bad wrap....I know, because I am one... for every stupid pet store employee there are a hundred customers that are more stoopider.

  • @psyskoh can u put male and female fishes together. i just got a male betta fish yesterday and he dosent eat or swim around much....

  • I once had four blue dwarf gourami's and they were fine till i added a fighter fish. he killed 3 in one night and the other one during the day while i was at work... they get on very well i'd say!!! :)

  • @sxybabykitten that sucks. i have two dwarf gourami's with my betta. no issues.

  • @sxybabykitten I know this is old, but Gouramis and bettas are closely related, so they fight.

  • @sxybabykitten well its been 2 years so I sure you figured it out already so this is more for any 1 elce that might read this the gourami's are to close related to betta so most of the time or alot of the time they will fight

  • lol i hope they live happily ever after :-D

  • well first you have to make sure they are well conditioned...you have to feed them a high protein diet then when the male starts building big bubble nests you can then introduce the female. the male will chase the female and they will fight for a little bit it is normal, they're kind of violent but that is the way it works.

  • Are you breeding them? How come when i put my male and female together to spawn. They chase each other? is this natural? How long should i leave it in there before i take them out if they dont breed?

  • well usually two females will fight, one of them will become the more dominant one..and the other will probably be scared of her... but if you put three they will balance out and it will be fine

  • wat happens if you put 2 females together

  • nothing

  • nope must be 3 or 4 or more

  • They might fight every now and then but males are the worst they fight constantly!

  • haha i separated them eventually though cuz alvin was flaring at bubbles( the girl) too much lol

  • They are getting along! wow nice video! u did a nice job decorating them! I love the tank lol and of course the fishies!

  • thanks for the comment they just got their new little caves today !

  • Those are nice Fish and the tank is beautiful. Thank you.
