Not really. It's not like the GTR was the only one that incurred weight penalties. As a whole the GTR did not perform very well compared to the other cars during that season. The SC430 and HSV10 both appeared more frequently in the top 3 than the GTR. Heck, the leading HSV10 and SC430 both incurred more weight penalties than any GTR.
If Nissan were to be allowed to use AWD, then, to be fair, everyone else would also be allowed to use AWD. The change would be pretty much be moot.
@kabasti the track is in japan but the drivers are asians, europeans etc, plus the cars are also different makers, so i guess its fairly the same thing when you put it there in europe
@cardude1992 I think that GT500 was becoming more popular so other outside car companies wanted in or something.... I'm not really sure but it is pretty good to see the so called "Ricers" Running with Ferrari and Lambo race cars. XD

As far as euros competing I think there is some rule about past FIA GT3 and DTM cars or something being allowed to compete.
Toyota/Lexus probably has resentment toward Honda and HSV due to 2010 not being the business-as-usual, not-breaking-a-sweat championship haul for Petronas SC430. HSV's debut championship win should be a big incentive for Toyota/Lexus to campaign the LFA for 2011, and for Honda to produce the road-going HSV to commemorate its success.

@DZoneTV they have to or they have to get special permission again for the next race in in the GT500 rule alson in the GT300 the cars that enter to compete also have to be a production car and honda only got special permission for 1 year anymore then that then Nissan and Toyota can do the same
@DZoneTV I bet the competition is in relief that Honda decided to go the conservative route and not produce the road version of the HSV10. Of course, you never know, maybe Honda will change its mind and give us something post NSX/S2000.
