Such a sweet tone Grover had in his posession!!It would have been an absolute pleasure to hear him live.....and Miguel Fuentes on percussion,I am so pleased to be making music with,down-under in NZ.
@ sportshistorybuff. Let it flow is the name of the tune grover wrote and performed as a tribute to his good friend Dr. J R I P.. Grover. Chicagosaxsam
Has anyone seen the Greatest Sports Legends tribute to Julius Erving? Let it Flow
is part of the soundtrack to some of the Doctor's greatest plays. There is however, another urban jazz tune played over the ending credits when the Doctor and Ken Howard are shooting hoops, a very familiar upbeat tune which I think may be
another of Grover Washington's hits. If anyone knows that tune, please let me
My mother and grandma got me into Grover at a very young age even though I was too young to understand jazz and how to play sax. Grover was one of my inspirations to playing Alto Sax growning up. So thanks Grover and R.I.P.
I love it when he slides in those notes like that at 5:08...and look master of all the saxophones just pick the other one up for the next song and start playing like it's no big deal LOL!
This is just so sweet. Watching this on video is a real bonus. I remember in the very late 70s growing up to a diet of Grover Washington music. The simplicity of the groove is so addictive. Will live on.
Man; I CRIED when Grover died. I had the privilege of seeing him four times in concert. He was the epitome of elegance--polished, professional, warm, humble, AND talented. Thanks so much for this great post.
One cannot help but wonder; How many amazing musical masterpieces did our, and coming generations miss out on, by loosing this great talent? 56 years old... Just.. Why?
@Torihope You were not alone in shedding tears the day Grover died. Unlike you I never got to see him live...my mother however went EVERY year w/o me knowing he was my favorite. When I was FINALLY going to see him in concert...he died. :-(
The song at the 3:15 point is the title track from the album Feels So Good. This was released on Motown in the 70's. You may be able to find on a Double CD with A Secret Place. Great music on the video. Thanks for posting it. May Grover's spirit live on.
grover music will live forever, you see I play sax too! I will help keep his music going
