the UN passed a law that governments need to supply water.......too late for that most of the water is controlled by a corporation the corporation has no law
@richarddowling11 the only problem with that theory is getting everyone to do it at once. The mass is too dumb and clumsy to orchestrate this all at once. It's easy to say doing that but performing it is a different story. Would you like your water, electricity, and gas shut off and unable to care for your home? Nobody wants that and so your theory will remain so. I'm not saying you're wrong in that point of view but just it's unrealistic from my point of view.
It never ceases to amaze me. Where there is money to be made (and power to be obtained), big corporations will respond to those in need only with apathy. Yet they rely on the poor to obtain their precious power. Typical.

This issue is SO under appreciated. I mean God Damn, this is so complicated and important, I feel like it should constantly be in the back of our minds. And How the Fuck is the World Bank allowed to continue when its true motives are so transparent? Everyday this world just seems more hopeless...No room for the little man...
@ivankumamoto Me too. A BIG problem is cities (Vegas, LA, Phoenix) in arid areas. Phoenix initiated a conservation program, only to have what is saved go to waste (fountains, etc) in Vegas.
Personally I conserve water. @ home I usually pee in a jug/use it in a garden (GREAT fertilizer) + a gutter/rain barrel system. I use 1 cup of water for brushing teeth & to shower I wet down, water off, lather up & water on/rinse. BTW, I can't believe in many states it's ILLEGAL to catch rainwater! WTF?
I think you can catch rainwater provided you do so before it hits the drains (i.e. those owned by the local water authority). As soon as it's on the ground it belongs to the local water authority. You should check first.
@slatgrill I'm not sure. After watching this documentary, I googled something like "catching rain water illegal" or something similar, & many results came back "Collecting rainwater now illegal in many states as Big Government ..". I didn't read every 1 but I guess many states are changing those laws & the main state is/was Colorado.
If these are the good guys, I'm rooting for the "terrorists".
There is only one good solution to this and that is the removal of the monetary system. It's either that or that the countries become dictatorships and don't allow multinational corporations into their country. Obviously the first option is better, but harder to accomplish. One thing is for certain: these criminals won't EVER stop doing this by their own free will.
Problem is corporations (or the criminals) are big machines where people who work them abide by the rules of the machine and turn the wheels which turn the cogs that gear the shaft that locates the plug that tightens the screw that holds the pin.....and so on and so on.
forget the corporations they will die of thirst too! but what about human greed? Yes, we're all guilty of it, each and every one of us! We use too much of this and too much of that going about our business in our bloated bodies leaving our stench behind us as we infest this place and then that place. We're no better than bacteria. We develop this and destroy that and decide who does what when. To be human is truely to be loathsome....may God have mercy on us....i fear he will not....!
@slatgrill When you think about it, humans really are/act like a virus/bacteria. They infect & harm the planet. Instead of living WITH nature, in harmony, they want to control & RULE it. If more people just wasted less (not just, but especially food), conserved, turned off lights/down heat or AC, drove less & used fuel efficient cars, etc, that alone would have a huge impact. You don't have to be a vegan & live in the dark, but by just having meat 2 VS 3 times weekly it can help.
"Corporations are stealing the water" you got that right! They're geoengineering the planet to cause droughts, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. This causes chaos, confusion, division, & degradation so elite can conquer & control! They even play the stock market according to weather modification! Heads of government, military, corporation, prolific universities, are closely woven, it's all very political! Haven't seen film, does it mention geoengineering, large energy companies, Bechtel, etc.?
@Vastvisionist Thanks for the post. The film details the political system of global trade that surrounds water and forces 3rd world countries in debt to allow 1st world countries to control its people's water for a profit. Bechtel did so with Bolivia in 2000, and the film features the revolution that took place there, where the Bolivian government sent out the military to protect the COMPANY and shoot people on the streets, killing seven. But the people fought on!
Corporations are geoengineering this planet to cause chaos through severe weather? I'm not sure what you're smoking but I want some...
Corporations aren't geoengineering our planet. Climate change is caused willful human ignorance and selfishness, corporations merely aim to profit from our own self destructive behavior.
@irrationalx1 You need to ask yourself, what incentive do these corporations have to preserve ANY of earth's resources. The scarcer something becomes, the more you can charge for it. This happens in EVERY single industry. You have fish co.'s in Japan that freeze the tuna, waiting for they day that they over fish them and can then sell reserves at an obscene price. Likewise, the faster we use up out fresh water, the more companies can charge us to use their reserves. Which really belong to us.
Corporations are stealing the water. No government goes to war without the consent, backing and initiation of the corporations and the owning ruling filthy rich elites.
FougereLohnes wrote, recorded and uploaded a song about this specific point. We invite you to visit and have a listen. Great video and an important message!
omg what if a hole world war will start over water?! that will be just wrong if the us controls all of water suppies woniin?demanding oil money and power over all nations
Controlling the water. Controlling what the population drinks. Controlling the health of people. Be concerned when you drink water that comes from public sources and wonder if it is really clean and pure...
Seawater Desalination is a plausible solution IF we had enough energy. And right now, we lack a good reliable "infinite" source of energy. The alternative is: fusion power, that should guarantee any energy we want w/o waste.
Pakistan is suffering from its own contradictiion. All the water flown into it is wasted on its province of Punjab and nothing goes to Sind, baluchistan or NWFP. terrorist traing camps in Pakistan should be devoid of any water. india has given more than what should be given to it. Vey soon India will block most of the rivers and war will be fought on that. Unfortunately, we know who loses everytime!!!
@dieudutonnerre National Geographic is owned by News Corporation which also for example owns Fox. They talk about "solutons" of this kind to blind peoples and to pull them out of real problem - corporationism.
@krzych7 Good insight. There is actually a good docu on the Establishment controlled press in the U.S. entitled "Behind the Big News." It's available here on youtube. Scary but true.
Why not smuggle snow out of Canada. Countries with snow are going to be huge economilcally if people don't find a source for water.Snow dollars could be bigger than petro dollars someday.Alot of countries have snow,so it could lead to inflation.
or hyperinflation since snow is so easily made into water which costs more.
A Kenyan woman won a Nobel peace prize, then started a Billion Tree Campaign with the UN. If we all got in2 this, learned how 2 properly reforest with native diversity & with respect 2 fungal & microbial symbiotic relationship with the trees, then repairing each region will positively adjust the local microclimate, which will positively influence the macroclimate, if a critical mass of regions participate across the map, & a critical mass of us participate in each region. sorry 4 longwindedness
The water war shall initially be fought using hitech missile capable to destroy dams. Both the countries have big and small dams. Pakistan will initially destroy all illegal dams constructed by India in violation to the Indus Water Treaty. This war will be expanded further in India's retaliatory strike against Pakistani dams, thus Pakistan will respond quickly by destroying their dams. Destroying dams is the easiest task for both the countries. India will be the great sufferer of this war.
World's first water war shall be fought between India and Pakistan. India has stolen the water of an entire river Chenab. Pakistan and India signed a treaty, which it has breached by constructing various dams over River Chenab that was exclusively given to Pakistan according to this theory. If world is not ready to ask India to behave in a responsible manner than Pakistan will have no choice but to declare war over India. Pakistan will be justified and destroying these illegal dams.
@punchfromnorth i say we let india and pakistan nuke eachother.... these countrys dont do much good anyways... i mean canada is more usefull to the world, with 30 million people, then india and pakistan are, with 1 billion.... besides... who really gives a fuck about that part of the earth anyways
People who aren't arrogant idiots like you. how old are you? 12, 13??? Dont be ignorant to what you know nothing about. I mean really, Grow up, i dont know if that comment was serious or a miserable attempt at humor, but either way you really are stupid.
Yes saw it. Note the people who are attempting to control it are the same people pushing for the New World Order. I read that some engineering students built a cheaper one in California called "M3 water desalination system" capable of producing 12,000 gallons a day. Might be worth looking into.
Wow, thanks Jossher! I love to hear it. Cheap desal may be a great help, but the point is not to depend on it. We have enough water around us if we can keep it in the ground and not over-pump, so why get dependent on a plant that somebody owns in order to survive? That said, I love technology and know it will continue to improve, I just worry about who owns it and what they want for its use.
@bozzosam - What do you mean? I agree with Jossher700 about seawater desalination. Isn't that a way to at least keep freshwater available to the masses for food, drink, personal use, irrigation for crops? Is it possible to pump desalinizeed water at the begining of rivers?
What a wounderful suggestion it is. According to this suggestion, China should stop all the revers originating in its territory and hydrate Indian soil. Then India has entire ocean for desalination. What do you suggest?
@Jossher700 Thats what I thought until my physics professor told us it takes 5 gallons of oil to make one gallon of desalinated water. Even though the large companies are building desal plants, i think you can see the problem with this.
@bbdawn11 Very good point. I was wondering if its possible to hook up the desalination machine to a nuclear power plant the size similar to those used in a nuclear sub or maybe a really powerful solar power plant.
Many speculate that will happen. Air and water are the two things we need for life. If water is allowed to become a commodity of control for profit or political power over people, then air will follow. But I feel people will fight for water and not allow it. - Filmmaker of Blue Gold
Looks interesting. Love the key art and art direction for the film.
So, according to this documentary, my fear of Waterworld coming true is on the opposing side of reality. I was really hoping to develop webbed feed but looks like we'll all be wearing thobes and saudis. :)
. and even if there was restricted supply due to a cartel situation or a severe drought, surely water supply and distribution would be nationalised because as everyone knows it is detrimental to human survival!
(continued..) obviously water is more scarce in some places due to geographical circumstances.. however it is just a question of the government ensuring increased supply of clean water through water treatment facilities and distributuion networks proportionate to the population growth,, and the governments in the third world countries, with scarce water supplies, getting their priorities right to the same or if not possible through humanitarian aid.
the way i see it is only one supplier can control the water going into one tap, or one house.. its called a natural monopoly, so there is no price competition.. and the government (in developed countries anyway) regulates the supplier with profit margins so they cant push the price up..... in all countries there is increasing demand, but not an increasing scarcity.
My comment is for the entire situation. We all need to bear in mind that humans are comprised of 97% water. We have the ability to influence our water whether it's inside us or out. We as a race are not acting as one, thinking as one. If we don't think it is a serious matter we will do nothing to stop this and perish in due time. How many people does the internet reach? maybe it is our one duty to enlighten the globe in a joint effort regarding this issue. Remember Nothing happens without water.
Relax , Guys - dont let Panic and Hysteria take over !
We got ourselves into this mess because of three reasons :
1) Greed
2) Wastage
3) Bad Karma.
We need to respect Nature. There are many ancient cultures of the world , especially INDIA , where they have lovingly nurtured their Forests and Rivers and other water bodies - even calling them ' Godesses'.
Respect - is the key word. Visceral hatred of Pagan Religions as ' Imbecile' are not going to help ! East will Teach us again !!
Not sure i know what i am talking about. But aren't they the ones doing the chemtrails and the Dynogel and the weather manipulation to cause the draughts in certain places? Aren't they poisoning the natural waterways with chemtrail rain? Could they be engineering control of clean water for their own greed? Only those places that they own get real clouds and clean rain? Just a question.
we could change the law or we could just make water, either way you might end up dissapeared or suicided... good job on bringing this movie to the light, i just think the movie needs a little more solutions on the tech side, maybe i'm wrong, but it is still another good argument on the manufactured crisis being just that, impossed on us by those who planned to take our life blood.
in this movie they mention de-salinization of the ocean for only a moment, and then malcolm mcdowl says " even if we could do this cost effecintly, why whould we?" earlier in th movie they explain that 97% of the earth ater is ocean....hello, tht's why!!!!! all freash water flows could be left alone to deposit their minerals in reefs and make wet lands and for swimming in!!! even the so called movie to wake one up on this issue, is daft!!!! are e in the twilight zone?
Hi, filmmaker Sam here. Sorry for the confusion. Our fresh water supply is currently in underground aquifers for a reason, where it belongs, as due to it we have forests, grass, a.k.a. food. Our problem is that we pump enormously increasing amounts of groundwater for industry, bad irrigation practices, etc. and dump the waste into the ocean.
Building coast-to-coast desalination plants, even it it were economically possible and we somehow find the energy needed to power them (not possible on both counts), would not stop the lands of the world turning into deserts (which is happening everywhere) from groundwater overpumping. It might keep us from dying as a species but would basically forfeit all of the useful land and forests. How we would successfully grow food in these conditions is just one of many huge questions.
The film also challenges the logic in turning to a total dependency on machines to survive when we have all the water we need in our land now. Why not simply alter the laws of water use now and stop the need to turn to desal-dependent beasts. The last reason I argue in the film is the not-least important fact that if we turn to a desal-dependent species, whoever owns the desal plants owns us. They can charge whatever they want, or use their control of the plants in any way they wish.
What is now ours in the land we live on would be given to whoever can afford to build and own the desal plants. Hope this helps and sorry the film was not clearer for you.
how could not needing ground water, not replenish ground water simply by not taing it? and as far as cost efficiency goes, you ake a circular moving pipe of ocean water keep moving with good old fashin wind mills, no electricity needed, just a mechanical 300 year old water pump, that would be the price of wind power without manufacturing turbines, =cheap, then you use the sun and the near freezing deep ocean water to accelerate condensation on large vertical surfaces that drip, no elec. needed.
You seem to be fixed on technology as the solution to this problem without looking beyond your nose. Many of the brightest scientists the world over tend to do this same thing regardless of the issue. Changing our attitudes about water and of its use is way more beneficial than continuing with our current course and looking for technology to save us.
i was saying that with some simple pre-industrial technology we can get all our freash water from ocean, making no impact on the volume of fresh water. not polluting the fresh water and cleaning up the polluted fresh waters and stopping anti envirionmental technologies and recycling, these things would also fix everything. the only difference between my idea and yours is that we would still be using rivers to water golf coarses, just more efficiently. i enjoy hearing your opinions Cambodia69.

@bozzosam Hello! the ocean itself can drive turbines. The water shortages are only an issue in areas with historically low water resources. I live on the east coast. We have never the 50 years I have been around had a problem with getting water. People that live in deserts, e.g. arizona, nevada, parts of california, utah, new mexico, are not ever going to get water. So move. Take note of the great lakes the fresh water in those will supply the world forever. We have water to spare.
fucking world bank.. creating debt in poor countries then making the poor countries sell their resorces real cheap to get out of their debt.. fucking hell we need to give up the monetary system
that was too much!...we can obtain clean water from the sea, like all the carriers and destroyers,ships,submarines,..water for surviving u will find but dry land, and wet land
Check out what theyve found on Mars. It once had a huge lake, now its a canyon. Where DID the water go? Straight out a hole in the ozone layer it once had? DONT BUY BOTTLED WATER!! The plastic alone is such a waste of resources.
Wow I gotta check that out, ever hear of "Ecoblue" I think thats what its called, it creates water from the air, a typical household one creates 7 gallons a day for folks who want clean drinking water without flouride and chlorine and all the rest, its pretty reasonably priced too
Be careful with this one. Firstly it is dangerous to your body to drink pure H2O as it will strip your body of mineral salts. H2O only exists within areas of the upper atmosphere (until chemtrailing hit us).
Collect water from the atmosphere, ensure it is alive by allowing it to pass through vegetation and then store it in the dark and cold (underground) alongside minerals (limestones/dolomites etc), then pass it through a ceramic filter (sub micron) before consuming.
People who live in soft water areas are known to be more prone to osteopororsis. Water molecule as pure H2O will always bond to any mineral salts.
The best water to drink, is that which rises from springs having passed through an aquifer and thus been mineralised. I have thirty years of professional experience working with water resource management in the built and rural environs.
If I must, no doubt I can trawl through for references.
I live extremely rurally, 20 minutes to a street light and ten minutes from there to the nearest gas station myself lol No public water here, 700 feet rock wells... they cost a fortune... lots of minerals in there, good enough? Well... until the electric goes off and I cant bring it up from that bottomless hole lol
i dunno, havet the slightest, thats ok. Most folks here drink their water untreated and live to a good old age, I have no water filtration system and drink it right from the well, never got anything and tastes wonderful
you don't have a pump? my mom and grandma lived on a farm, they pumped their water. until they got electric, but if they had to, they could go back and pump it.
The reason I cant get a handpump is because of the depth of the well, its the depth that determines a handpump, most folks dont have to go down as deep as mine is in order to reach water, I looked at handpumps but my well is too deep to be able to draw it up without more power, even my wire gage when going from 565 feet (old well) to 700 feet (new well) needed to change according to the new depth. Sorta stinks because I would get a handpump for emergencies at least
well i didn't mean an old fashioned hand pump for real though, I meant something mechanical, not needing electricity: vacuum actuated. I'm sure there's gotta be something out there. my concern is, what if the power did go out. just yesterday my power went out int he neighborhood.
If you know of anything please let me know, its the only thing I know of to get water up from my well without electric but cant use it. If you know of anything differently Im interested. I live very rurally in the south and have been looking for another way, mostly because we were without water for three months, now we store water because of that experience, thank God for our pool as well, its better then no bath at all! lol I never thought I'd liev through that experience
See I knew when you said if the electricity went out you'd be left high and dry, pun intended. And that's no fun. Let me look into it. 700 foot well huh?
It sure isnt, was looking into solar panels for it but that over $10,000 and given we are rual and with all the trees that could possibly damge those Im not leaning that way either. We have a passive water purifier so that we can collect rainwater and clean it sufficiently, the nearest lake is a half mile away, but at least we have a pool to bathe lol Wilderness living has its drawbacks lol One pro is theres less flouride and no hormones in the water lol Other folks drugs yanno :P
All one has to do in order to decide upon the matter of fluoride, is to look at what occured when these substances were accidentally released into the environment.
My work keeps me in constant touch with many life forms and my research into toxicity within our soil & water has been based upon past "accidents".
The use of a waste product such as hydrosilifluoric acid (spelling!) rather than having to dispose of it "safely" is based upon the notion of "dillution is the solution".
In regard to fluoride, this serves two objectives. Firstly it disposes of waste, secondly it will stupify the humans, their children already sick from vaccines and addiives will lose faculties and resilience.
By the time fluorosis appears in the teeth (and bones) the damage to the endocrine system is done. The greatest impact of drinking this universal biocide is the destruction of gut flora, this leads to dis-ease as the system attempts to compensate.
I saw this and wondered... "what is the point of commenting in a 50K-viewer vid??", "Tomorrow my comment will b 3 pages down the line"... and I remembered "Water", H2O, the "elixir of Life"... And looked at the previous comments... So no Soldiers at wells, eh? This guy is evidently a soldier, and knows what he is talking about. But the H2O war has already started, see Bond 007 "Quantum Menace"... This topic was not for lack of ideas... What is the firs discomfort of man? not sleep, but THIRST...
water wars is bs. they will never happen. when a drought happens, people only protest. I havent seen any soldiers around lakes and there are many guns here.
are you kidding? I guess you don't read the news. Georgia, Alabama and Florida fight over water right all the time. California gets water from aquifers that originate in Montana. The World Bank tried to force Peru to privatize water. Nestle has been draining rivers in Wisconsin and selling it in bottles.
The film explains this in more detail, but short answer, no. Corporations who build the desal plants will own the water and can deny it to people who don't pay. Governments who build them can't necessarily be trusted to not do the same. The solution is to restore the groundwater so the natural water cycle can fix itself.
I saw this film in it's entirety last night at the Salem Film Festival. It's the kind of film that should be shown in every classroom, every Church and all our lawmakers should be forced to watch.

min. 1:48 i will make this happens in the desert with water of the sea.... I will turn green the dry land... in the name of Jesus for the world .... amen
My understanding is that this must be a quote (I.e. from the Bible) and I would love to read it in it's entirety (Re: "i will make this happens in the desert with water of the sea.... I will turn green the dry land") .
I am sorry it does not come from a bible is something I am able to do ... I can do this for the world not for my glory or my credit .. I prefer to be anonimous but I dedicate this in the name of jesus
and yes it can be done... I know how to turn the dry land in green ... lot of drinking water and the desert will be green....
I know as a matter of facts that there is solutions for this ....they just looking to the wrong side for it, I wish I have the resources to proof it to the world

even though i know water privatization is evil and goes against basic human needs i will still invest in private water projects to make a million dollars and then spend it on coke and hookers
RO is OK. However, it uses a lot of electricity and requires a lot of maintenance. There is a demonstrator project soon to break ground that uses ocean water and solar thermal energy to desalinate. It is called "Solar Rain".
as Winston Churchill said "Never, Never, Never Give UP!!"
once you change you wake up others do. I can see My freinds and Family are allready changing how they think even though they haven't looked up any of this stuff.
Water is not the only thing they are after. Monsanto is after the worlds food resources just youtube it or google it. They will soon invent some air cleaning machine and will institute a clean air tax. It's all part of the Faschist plan. Educate yourself, wake up, share and fight for mother Earth, ourselves and our children.
The problem is the state-corporate-system which for institutional reasons only care about power and profits. We the people have to stop obeying our corporate bosses and the corporate representatives running our governments. forget the corporations they will die of thirst too! but what about human greed? Yes, we're all guilty of it, each and every one of us! We use too much of this and too much of that going about our business in our bloated bodies leaving our stench behind us as we infest this place and then that place. We're no better than bacteria. We develop this and destroy that and decide who does what when. To be human is truely to be loathsome....may God have mercy on us....i fear he will not....!
slatgrill 1 year ago

Vastvisionist 1 year ago 7

Climate change is caused willful human ignorance and selfishness, corporations merely aim to profit from our own self destructive behavior.
irrationalx1 1 year ago
@irrationalx1 You need to ask yourself, what incentive do these corporations have to preserve ANY of earth's resources. The scarcer something becomes, the more you can charge for it. This happens in EVERY single industry. You have fish co.'s in Japan that freeze the tuna, waiting for they day that they over fish them and can then sell reserves at an obscene price. Likewise, the faster we use up out fresh water, the more companies can charge us to use their reserves. Which really belong to us.

India will be the great sufferer of this war.
punchfromnorth 1 year ago
World's first water war shall be fought between India and Pakistan. India has stolen the water of an entire river Chenab. Pakistan and India signed a treaty, which it has breached by constructing various dams over River Chenab that was exclusively given to Pakistan according to this theory. If world is not ready to ask India to behave in a responsible manner than Pakistan will have no choice but to declare war over India. Pakistan will be justified and destroying these illegal dams.

Yes saw it. Note the people who are attempting to control it are the same people pushing for the New World Order. I read that some engineering students built a cheaper one in California called "M3 water desalination system" capable of producing 12,000 gallons a day. Might be worth looking into.

Jossher700 1 year ago 4
Wow, thanks Jossher! I love to hear it. Cheap desal may be a great help, but the point is not to depend on it. We have enough water around us if we can keep it in the ground and not over-pump, so why get dependent on a plant that somebody owns in order to survive? That said, I love technology and know it will continue to improve, I just worry about who owns it and what they want for its use.

@bozzosam - What do you mean? I agree with Jossher700 about seawater desalination. Isn't that a way to at least keep freshwater available to the masses for food, drink, personal use, irrigation for crops? Is it possible to pump desalinizeed water at the begining of rivers?
rower5man 1 year ago
What a wounderful suggestion it is. According to this suggestion, China should stop all the revers originating in its territory and hydrate Indian soil. Then India has entire ocean for desalination. What do you suggest?
punchfromnorth 1 year ago
@Jossher700 Thats what I thought until my physics professor told us it takes 5 gallons of oil to make one gallon of desalinated water. Even though the large companies are building desal plants, i think you can see the problem with this.

. and even if there was restricted supply due to a cartel situation or a severe drought, surely water supply and distribution would be nationalised because as everyone knows it is detrimental to human survival!
jaaaaaaaaaaames 2 years ago
(continued..) obviously water is more scarce in some places due to geographical circumstances.. however it is just a question of the government ensuring increased supply of clean water through water treatment facilities and distributuion networks proportionate to the population growth,, and the governments in the third world countries, with scarce water supplies, getting their priorities right to the same or if not possible through humanitarian aid.
jaaaaaaaaaaames 2 years ago
the way i see it is only one supplier can control the water going into one tap, or one house.. its called a natural monopoly, so there is no price competition.. and the government (in developed countries anyway) regulates the supplier with profit margins so they cant push the price up..... in all countries there is increasing demand, but not an increasing scarcity.
jaaaaaaaaaaames 2 years ago

Idolcruisefix 2 years ago
in this movie they mention de-salinization of the ocean for only a moment, and then malcolm mcdowl says " even if we could do this cost effecintly, why whould we?" earlier in th movie they explain that 97% of the earth ater is ocean....hello, tht's why!!!!! all freash water flows could be left alone to deposit their minerals in reefs and make wet lands and for swimming in!!! even the so called movie to wake one up on this issue, is daft!!!! are e in the twilight zone?
Idolcruisefix 2 years ago
Hi, filmmaker Sam here. Sorry for the confusion. Our fresh water supply is currently in underground aquifers for a reason, where it belongs, as due to it we have forests, grass, a.k.a. food. Our problem is that we pump enormously increasing amounts of groundwater for industry, bad irrigation practices, etc. and dump the waste into the ocean.
bozzosam 2 years ago
Building coast-to-coast desalination plants, even it it were economically possible and we somehow find the energy needed to power them (not possible on both counts), would not stop the lands of the world turning into deserts (which is happening everywhere) from groundwater overpumping. It might keep us from dying as a species but would basically forfeit all of the useful land and forests. How we would successfully grow food in these conditions is just one of many huge questions.
bozzosam 2 years ago
The film also challenges the logic in turning to a total dependency on machines to survive when we have all the water we need in our land now. Why not simply alter the laws of water use now and stop the need to turn to desal-dependent beasts. The last reason I argue in the film is the not-least important fact that if we turn to a desal-dependent species, whoever owns the desal plants owns us. They can charge whatever they want, or use their control of the plants in any way they wish.
bozzosam 2 years ago
What is now ours in the land we live on would be given to whoever can afford to build and own the desal plants. Hope this helps and sorry the film was not clearer for you.
bozzosam 2 years ago
how could not needing ground water, not replenish ground water simply by not taing it? and as far as cost efficiency goes, you ake a circular moving pipe of ocean water keep moving with good old fashin wind mills, no electricity needed, just a mechanical 300 year old water pump, that would be the price of wind power without manufacturing turbines, =cheap, then you use the sun and the near freezing deep ocean water to accelerate condensation on large vertical surfaces that drip, no elec. needed.
Idolcruisefix 2 years ago
You seem to be fixed on technology as the solution to this problem without looking beyond your nose. Many of the brightest scientists the world over tend to do this same thing regardless of the issue. Changing our attitudes about water and of its use is way more beneficial than continuing with our current course and looking for technology to save us.
Cambodia69 2 years ago
i was saying that with some simple pre-industrial technology we can get all our freash water from ocean, making no impact on the volume of fresh water. not polluting the fresh water and cleaning up the polluted fresh waters and stopping anti envirionmental technologies and recycling, these things would also fix everything. the only difference between my idea and yours is that we would still be using rivers to water golf coarses, just more efficiently. i enjoy hearing your opinions Cambodia69.

KARStarla 2 years ago
Be careful with this one. Firstly it is dangerous to your body to drink pure H2O as it will strip your body of mineral salts. H2O only exists within areas of the upper atmosphere (until chemtrailing hit us).
Collect water from the atmosphere, ensure it is alive by allowing it to pass through vegetation and then store it in the dark and cold (underground) alongside minerals (limestones/dolomites etc), then pass it through a ceramic filter (sub micron) before consuming.

If its dangerous to drink it that way then why is it legal to sell it then?
Besides, cant I just pick up a mineral salt block like the one I get my goats at the farm buerea for a few bucks? lol
THis is a system, wheres the source for your information?
KARStarla 2 years ago
Hey Karla
People who live in soft water areas are known to be more prone to osteopororsis. Water molecule as pure H2O will always bond to any mineral salts.
The best water to drink, is that which rises from springs having passed through an aquifer and thus been mineralised. I have thirty years of professional experience working with water resource management in the built and rural environs.
If I must, no doubt I can trawl through for references.
pondman27 2 years ago
I live extremely rurally, 20 minutes to a street light and ten minutes from there to the nearest gas station myself lol No public water here, 700 feet rock wells... they cost a fortune... lots of minerals in there, good enough? Well... until the electric goes off and I cant bring it up from that bottomless hole lol
KARStarla 2 years ago
What is your annual rainfall average and drout period?
pondman27 2 years ago
i dunno, havet the slightest, thats ok. Most folks here drink their water untreated and live to a good old age, I have no water filtration system and drink it right from the well, never got anything and tastes wonderful
KARStarla 2 years ago
you don't have a pump? my mom and grandma lived on a farm, they pumped their water. until they got electric, but if they had to, they could go back and pump it.
shakaama 2 years ago
The reason I cant get a handpump is because of the depth of the well, its the depth that determines a handpump, most folks dont have to go down as deep as mine is in order to reach water, I looked at handpumps but my well is too deep to be able to draw it up without more power, even my wire gage when going from 565 feet (old well) to 700 feet (new well) needed to change according to the new depth. Sorta stinks because I would get a handpump for emergencies at least
KARStarla 2 years ago
well i didn't mean an old fashioned hand pump for real though, I meant something mechanical, not needing electricity: vacuum actuated. I'm sure there's gotta be something out there. my concern is, what if the power did go out. just yesterday my power went out int he neighborhood.
shakaama 2 years ago
If you know of anything please let me know, its the only thing I know of to get water up from my well without electric but cant use it. If you know of anything differently Im interested. I live very rurally in the south and have been looking for another way, mostly because we were without water for three months, now we store water because of that experience, thank God for our pool as well, its better then no bath at all! lol I never thought I'd liev through that experience
KARStarla 2 years ago
See I knew when you said if the electricity went out you'd be left high and dry, pun intended. And that's no fun. Let me look into it. 700 foot well huh?
shakaama 2 years ago
It sure isnt, was looking into solar panels for it but that over $10,000 and given we are rual and with all the trees that could possibly damge those Im not leaning that way either. We have a passive water purifier so that we can collect rainwater and clean it sufficiently, the nearest lake is a half mile away, but at least we have a pool to bathe lol Wilderness living has its drawbacks lol One pro is theres less flouride and no hormones in the water lol Other folks drugs yanno :P

EdMan2012 2 years ago
All one has to do in order to decide upon the matter of fluoride, is to look at what occured when these substances were accidentally released into the environment.
My work keeps me in constant touch with many life forms and my research into toxicity within our soil & water has been based upon past "accidents".
The use of a waste product such as hydrosilifluoric acid (spelling!) rather than having to dispose of it "safely" is based upon the notion of "dillution is the solution".
cont'd
pondman27 2 years ago
In regard to fluoride, this serves two objectives. Firstly it disposes of waste, secondly it will stupify the humans, their children already sick from vaccines and addiives will lose faculties and resilience.
By the time fluorosis appears in the teeth (and bones) the damage to the endocrine system is done. The greatest impact of drinking this universal biocide is the destruction of gut flora, this leads to dis-ease as the system attempts to compensate.
As ever, they tell we need it!

The film explains this in more detail, but short answer, no. Corporations who build the desal plants will own the water and can deny it to people who don't pay. Governments who build them can't necessarily be trusted to not do the same. The solution is to restore the groundwater so the natural water cycle can fix itself.

RO is OK. However, it uses a lot of electricity and requires a lot of maintenance. There is a demonstrator project soon to break ground that uses ocean water and solar thermal energy to desalinate. It is called "Solar Rain".

once you change you wake up others do.
