@javieress1 Starting in Mortal Kombat 2, he would appear at the bottom of the screen and say "Toasty!!" at times during the match, usually following an uppercut. He also said it when Scorpion did a version of his skull fire fatality. If you were lucky enough to press Down and Start at the same time as soon as he appeared and said Toasty during the Portal stage, you could then fight Smoke.

@javieress1 It was originally supposed to be a line among "You're Toast" and many others that Shao Kahn would announce after one of the fighters had the crap beat out of them without making any damage to the offending player, but they never made them and had Dan Forden say it as an easter egg.

One that survived was Shao Kahn saying the same line when Scorpion uses his stage fatality in the hell stage in MK3.

@Wolfsblut471 The story behind it says that a bunch of the people who made the original Mortal Kombat games were just playing around, having fun one day, and the general line they had been using to rag on each other was "You're Toast!" But then Forden came along with "Toasty!" and I guess they loved the idea so much that they asked him if he'd want to put that in as a hidden little easter egg in later games :)
