  • It looks like he is playing his Franklin OM made by Nick Kucinich -- but I am not 100 % sure. Renbourn has aged gracefully and remains one of my all time favorites.

  • Thanks for this info. On the other hand, I've been lucky enough to see Dick Gaughan and also Robin Williamson playing in such small venues in the last couple of years that they didn't bother using any amplification and it was a real joy to hear miraculous acoustic guitars. I'm also old enough to remember Paul Simon and Roy Harper (of all people) playing those nasty plastic backed Ovation guitars....heresy.

  • Although the brightness of the guitar has a lot to do with the construction of the guitar itself, woods, small OM sized body etc I think it is fair to say that what we are hearing is also down to the Fishman (Nemesis) sound hole pick up, AER amp, the P.A. as well as the quality of the equipment used to record.

  • @mercury13pam Took the words out of my mouth.

  • Many thanks for this info-and hats off to Ralph Bown for making something so miraculous.

  • I was at a John Renbourn workshop in June this year where he was playing his Ralph Bown guitar with a cutaway. I asked him what the other guitar was that he currently plays, non cutaway with a fancy headstock, and he told me this was another Bown guitar, so I assume this is what he was using at Moseley.
