Not in an offending meaning, I love this guy, and no matter what...whether stressed, or frustrated... I can sleep so easily whenever I listen to this song, and I do suffer a lot because of my sleeping problems. medicine right there <3
Next time you're listening to some silly Yngwie hater saying "all he can do is shred, he sucks. No feel at all!"....Show them Icarus' Dream Suite Op. 4 and their argument is instantly rendered invalid.
@killyou45 I find it's already an invalid argument. Unless there is some way of proving the amount of feel put in, even in the stuff he does that I find more on the mindless side I would imagine he puts emotion in. So then the question is if the listener gets an emotional connection, that has more to do with personal taste. Technique has subjective elements but I'd say it's more objective, and in that sense saying Yngwie sucks would be idiotic. This is my favorite of his work though I think.
@killyou45 Damn right, it's like you've read my mind, as just today on the train I did that to a friend of mine and linked him this song some minute ago!
Has there ever been a greater master of electric AND acoustic guitar!? I have not seen anybody else perform so magnificently on both instruments, within the same song!
This is the 5th song on his Rising Force Album. Love it. Play it ALOT. Play this whole CD alot!! Such a beautiful song! Goosebumps! Crying in parts......alot of emotions are bought out in me hearing this!
This guy was known for the shred. Yet that beautiful melody is still felt, while he does the slow stuff. Too bad he arpeggiated too much. 4:34. He loves the classical, and that I really like.
Marty Friedman "Scenes" is another unappreciated Gem like this album was.

Marty Friedman "Scenes" is another unappreciated Gem like this album was.
I almost got the burnt guitar he threw into the crown in Columbus, Ohio back in '87 I think it was. The guards broke up the fight for it and stripped it away. I learned how to play most of his songs on my guit fiddle, though. I like Yngwie. I named my wiener dog Yngwie. I call him Yngwiener dog! He can't play guitar though. His arms are too short.
It is still his most beautiful composition in my mind. The first album is like a Shrapnel instruction guide. A great debut album.
I saw Yngwie on the trilogy tour with Soto singing shortly after Boals was let go the first time opening for Iron Maiden on the Somwhere in Time tour. And my first show. Walked home going deaf but the happiest day of my life at the time.
@achromat666 What, Malmsteen opened for Maiden ?, sounds like a great night.
I remember learning this song in the late 80s and my mum started humming ahead of me, as the intro is a famous classical piece, that annoyed me at the time.
@BeamRider100 Yes, years ago during the Somewhere in Time tour for Maiden, and the Trilogy tour for Yngwie, when I was still in HS and when there was still a Capital Center in MD. It was my first show and an absolute blast.
this is quite possibly one of the best pieces of music ever. sometimes i want to kill myself when i hear it because its so beautiful i shouldnt be able to hear this. im not good enough or worthy.
@Earnhardt12345 its not beiber fans, they probably dont know who yngwie is.the dislikes come from people who are jealous they can't play as good or dont know shit about music
@MusicSam63 Or people like me, who just dislike his work. I'm way way more into good bass players. But, regardless, I came here because someone told me this was a more "modern" version of adiago. I'm not impressed, nor have I ever been with his work.
@PeturHinrik i play guitar and bass so i like good bass players as well, but i don't like say (rudy sarzo for instance) well i wouldn't go there a hit dislike, i just wouldn,t go there. but thats me.
@PeturHinrik for any 25 year old to make music like this, the overlapping and stacked guitars, the bass lines and the drums, i would say that's impressive on any level and only a moron would disagree, I'm not saying to like his work, but if you're going to sit there and say this doesn't impress you, then you have issues and need to step off your high horse.
@xCMxMach I agree....but even if yngwie was deaf and blind and only had 2 fingers on each arm and played this...there will always be that one person who isn't impressed
if yngwie wasnt an arrogant selfcentered asshole, there is no way he would have made it so far in rock music. he'd just be another incredible player shredding in his bedroom
@ubershredder1989 Randy Rhoads was a very humble, genuinely nice person, and Yngwie thinks Rhoads was legendary enough for him to take the time to write a flattering foreword in the new documentary book about Rhoads called "Crazy Train".
@AmericanThunder you dont know whether a person is nice or not unless u know them in person. paul gilbert seems like a cool, goofy guy, but ive heard from countless people who met him personally that he was very unpleasant, arrogant, and a complete asshole. sure yngwie may have more of the rockstar ego going, but its all for his image. have a look at some of his interviews, he seems like a very chilled down to earth chap, that you could go fishing with...
@ubershredder1989 I read the documentary about Rhoads, so I was simply relaying the stated information by people who knew him. Also, I wasn't saying Yngwie is or isn't a douche, I was simply responding to your comment and giving an example of a person who wasn't an "arrogant self-centered asshole" and yet is still legendary and world-known. On a side note; I really enjoy Yngwie's playing, I think he's phenomenal, regardless of whether he's a douche or not.
@dragonballdbz its not ironic at all. its life. i don't kno steve jobs personally... neither do i kno yngwie... but i am sure, yngwie is a real nice guy if u kno him PERSONALLY.... paul gilbert may seem like a cool, goofy, funny guy, but i heard alot of people say who met him in person, that he's really unpleasant...
