Yes but he didn't put anywhere that it was only from 300, he simply said that its the armor from 300, the real spartans wore different armor (Chest plate, diff shield and weapons)

Spartan commanders wore that helmet and some choose to wear no armour....and the shield is called a hoplite...which is what ALL spartans used...They also had a short sword for a back up weapon...

Correction - Hoplite isn't the name of the Shield - The name comes from "Hoplon" which means weapon. The Spartans were just a civilisation and the Soldiers were called Spartan Hoplites. They fought in the same formation like the ancient greek did - the Phalanx. They used the sword if the spear was broken, what would happen pretty fast at a 9 feet long spear.
