I understand what you mean. In "Van Helsing" there's a part where the werewolf shows off his cat-like claws also... i mean, wolves aren't exactly known for having sharp claws.

Cat eyes are more intimidating and wolves and dogs have very sharp claws if not trimmed.

Werewolf's are wolf's. They are using cat eyes because they are easy cheap eyes you can by for $50,00 and they photograph well...

this is a cheap made for tv show so every dime you save you can use else where.

Actually they are genetic brothers. Dogs descend from wolves. Dogs vary so much mainly because of being domesticated by humans and selective breeding.
