My opinion: Pits are BORN animal/dog aggresive, but with the right "conditioning" any pit can be dog-friendly. When my 6 month pit took on my 7 yr Rott while we were gone camping, neither was spared the rod upon return. Rott learned, Pit still unconvinced and up to no good. Rematch earned Pit some pit-worthy corporal punishment and 48 hr tree-solitary, an dat boy was learneded right. @2tostado Why would you scold him for doing what he was bred to do? That would be like punishing a grey hound for running. The right thing to do is to not let him in a position to fight another animal, but if he does get into a fight don't punish him. APBT are not born aggressive towards other animals, I think you confuse aggressiveness and gameness. There are a lot of different types of dogs that are aggressive towards animals but don't have the gameness to stay in the fight or finishing one.
@JvVar2120 You're right, punishing a bullterrier for fighting is like punishing a Lab or springer for hunting & sniffing, although with the bullterriers it's wise to socialise them a lot when their young so they will only fight when they have no choice, even the quietest one will stand his ground if attacked by another dog, but there's no pleasure owning a bullterrier that wants to kill every dog he sees even if he is people friendly, with a dog like that you're always walking alone.

@2tostado I can't help pointing out a major mistake you made, if you used a rod on your dogs on return from a trip, for a fight they had while on the trip, that was a totally pointless exercise, the dogs had no idea why you whipped them, when training a dog you must discourage or encourage the behaviour right at the time it happens, they learn through repetition and positive or negative encouragement, you can't slap them later and expect them to know why like a naughty child.
No matter what people think of Leser Hughes it cannot be denied that the quality of the dogs that he bred was phenomenal and rarely equaled or bettered by anybody before or after.
i rather just show dogs, not fight them. I do infact like the fact that they are fearless though. But i wish sometimes we could switch roles, and dogs let humans fight eachother!!!

People breed dogs with deformities because they think it looks pretty. Examples of show breeds that are bred for deformities are the English bulldog and neapolitan mastiff. Most pure bred dogs have a lot of health problems because they are extremely inbred.

@ConiferTreez Some of the greatest fighting dogs you mean? because the best dogs i had up until the current one in my profile pic were 2 perticular dogs i bought to save them being fought anymore, they were great pets but terrible with other dogs, i had to be extra careful with them when around other dogs, but my kids could wrestle with them, sit on them, the dogs would play ball games & tug-o-war all day with the kids and never once got nasty, thats what i love about this breed.

I believe dogs have their place beside their master. I have pig hunted for a number of years with pit mixes and other breeds. All these dogs had a special place in my heart. This video bothers me a little. I see them all chained and bare boned. Not a good representation. I never chained my dogs. Yes put them on a zip line and kept them outside but never chained them. It makes sense if they are going to serve a purpose. Take care of them. Nice tribute!

@2tostado Why would you scold him for doing what he was bred to do? That would be like punishing a grey hound for running. The right thing to do is to not let him in a position to fight another animal, but if he does get into a fight don't punish him. APBT are not born aggressive towards other animals, I think you confuse aggressiveness and gameness. There are a lot of different types of dogs that are aggressive towards animals but don't have the gameness to stay in the fight or finishing one.

@JvVar2120 You're right, punishing a bullterrier for fighting is like punishing a Lab or springer for hunting & sniffing, although with the bullterriers it's wise to socialise them a lot when their young so they will only fight when they have no choice, even the quietest one will stand his ground if attacked by another dog, but there's no pleasure owning a bullterrier that wants to kill every dog he sees even if he is people friendly, with a dog like that you're always walking alone.

@2tostado I can't help pointing out a major mistake you made, if you used a rod on your dogs on return from a trip, for a fight they had while on the trip, that was a totally pointless exercise, the dogs had no idea why you whipped them, when training a dog you must discourage or encourage the behaviour right at the time it happens, they learn through repetition and positive or negative encouragement, you can't slap them later and expect them to know why like a naughty child.

People breed dogs with deformities because they think it looks pretty. Examples of show breeds that are bred for deformities are the English bulldog and neapolitan mastiff. Most pure bred dogs have a lot of health problems because they are extremely inbred.

I believe dogs have their place beside their master. I have pig hunted for a number of years with pit mixes and other breeds. All these dogs had a special place in my heart. This video bothers me a little. I see them all chained and bare boned. Not a good representation. I never chained my dogs. Yes put them on a zip line and kept them outside but never chained them. It makes sense if they are going to serve a purpose. Take care of them. Nice tribute!

those dogs are not starving they are at fight weight and in better physical shape than most greyhounds pit bulls are game thats what they are i have 4 and i love them all i don't believe in dog fighting but if it was not around we would not have real pit bulls we would have a bunch of bullies and oversize monsters and that would be it you can forget hog hunting with a bully trust me they can not keep up game don't always mean they have to fight a game dog makes a better pet than most.

@fairygodis a game fighting dog in most cases wont even attack another dog when it gets loose. the gameness alot of times has the bulldog possesed to know the difference between the pit and the yard but when you face 'em off it's a whole different story!

@birdman50grand You don't now shit about game-bred PIts. 100% of the time, a game-bred Pit will attack another dog, and the more a Pit has fighting Pits in his or her pedigree, the likelihood that Pit it will attack other animals.

Honeybunch as his main bloodlines, but have some other fighting Pits in his predigree. He has never been "match" , but will attack any other dog due to the fighting Pits in his pedigree.

@JASPA7XW I heard something on the radio once where a man was talking about his dogfighting expirience. He said that when he was 11 his dad told him to come down the the kenals behind the house. His dad gave him a hamer and told him to hit the dog in the head that was "to far gone" after a fight. He killed his dog with a fucking hamer.... The talk show host asked the man if he loved his dog and the only reply he could get was "well i hate having to kill a dog thats made me so much money."

@JASPA7XW the sport was ruined by thugs and people who didnt love their dogs...more monsers in it for the blood than anything. i was born in the wrong half of the century. now im left to owning bulldogs and doin a ton of historical research. its amazing how all the old pictures of the shows was familys, from kids to old people all getting together to watch. definately not what it has become..

The thugs don't have a wide range of real knowledge about the game so if they are not seeing real shows, handlers etc. they will be the ones doing the time, I only associate with people who are veterans of the game and I've been handlin' pits since I was 6 I'm 38 now
