He is just a little fish in Ottoman history.I don't know why he's so big of a deal in the West! He was a "guest" at Sultan's court and I think there he was abused,he learned the implaing from Turks and then he was captured by Hungarians ,released to fight Turks and was assasinated by one of Sultan's assassins. where is the glory or success in this life i don't get it. FYI for ppl who think Ottomans could not pass Romania. We sieged Vienna 2 times so passed over Romania like walk in the park
@mikealphalimaindia Why the phook would you need to pass Romania to get to Vienna, unless you are incredibly retarded...to get to Vienna with your army from Constantinopol, you need to go through Serbia/Hungry/Croatia not Romania! Plus it's not like you filthy stinkin' turks never lost huge armies to us Romanians against incredible odds, remember "Battle of Vaslui" 46.000 Moldavian Romanians against 176.000 gipsy turks...little over 1000 turks survived that day, we had only 4000 casualties!
i really don't think this is the true story of dracula, so just don't believe it. oh, and i really don't think that God will ever give you peace, monster!!!!
Sounds like an evangelical account of Vlad. Which is not much more credible than the creationism or i.d.
"Oh evry other account of Vlad has had unnecessary myths attached to it, however you can hear baby vlad in the corridors of the palace he was born in." FUCK that made me lol.
Vlad impaled 'CHRISTIAN' villagers as well. In an age deprived of gunpowder, Vlad still found the time to impale 23000 or more romanian christians in one field. This documentary is a farce. And it made me lol.
bless your heart.. your not very well read and seem to get your information from what you can watch on tv or here.. try spending a little time researching a topic before you jump on a POPULAR band wagon.. yes this adaptation was somewhat crude but your comment was so hilariously simple minded i could not help but comment.
AANNDD! they only got the whole "drinking blood thing" cuz after he impaled his victims, he would stick his bread in the blood that was collected at the bottom and eat. yummy LOL
stupid! Vlads dad was the "prince" of Romania, who called himself Dracul(dragon) Vlad then calls himself dracula (son of the drangon) when he was at war with Hungary & the turks, Vlad & his bro were "insurance" to the turks, so tht he wouldnt attack them, he grows up resenting everyone my life sucks kinda deal, when he got the thrown when his father died, he got the whole impaling thing from when he lived with the turks. but anyways, yeah, my mother is Romanian & the history always facinated me
not the true story ^^ I know the real one . people said I was wrong so I started doing research in all romanian books that are possible ^^ and I found something cool
Maybe he was a bloodthirsty...maybe he was a "monster".But his methods WORKED! because of him and other romanian rulers the ottomans never got past Romania.
Vlad was great at war, I'm from the U.S. I know the true story of Dracula, I did a book report on him in 7th grade and be a huge fan of him since then, I've lost all respect for the horror movies of Dracula they are all fake except Vlad Tepes movie in 1979 the only good movie on the true Dracula, And it is true a large majority of americans do not know the truth of the real Dracula...R.I.P Vlad Dracula aka Vlad Tepes 1431-1476
Vlad was God of war, He had the best war tactics ever used in battle, I'm from the U.S. and alot of people laugh when I tell them i like Dracula, The problem is their thinking of the stupid horror movies about him, But when i do decide to waste my breath to tell them about the real Dracula, It usally shuts them up quick
I'm from the US, but am a student of History. I am glad that at least the Romanians recognize Vlad as a hero. Don't people realize we'd all be Muslim Heretics if not for him? All they talk about him here in the States is the impaling, or how "bloodthirsty" he was. No one brings up the fact that he was a staunch defender of Christendom.
Yeah, many people know the true story of Dracul and his son Dracula, the Little Dragon.
Accurate and good book by Radu R. Florescu (a Romanian noble) and raymond T. McNally is "Dracula, Prince of Many Faces, His Life and Times". Dracul was a military genius. I'm of Polish descent and live in the USA.
oh yeah...im romanian i just see the movie and it rocks:X:X:X i loved it even it was a bit creepy vlad tepes it's the famous "dracula" vlad tepes(1456-1476) was an reigning at the romanian states. He was the nephew of Mircea cel batran( Mircea the old) (1386-1418) and the son of Vlad Dracul(Vlad the devil), Vlad Tepes wasn't a vampire... he was kill the bad people by splintering so here the name tepes( splinter) teapa=splint Hope this help you:)
Thank you ! Finally a Westerner who knows the true about Vlad the Impaler. It's really amazing how a large majority of the "educated" Westerners still believe in the Bram Stoker's silly and psycho story. It's good to issue such a video for undocumented people who really want to learn something about a NORMAL prince of Romania in the XV century. Yes, NORMAL ! Compare him to the British, French or Spanish kings and you'll understand that Vlad was just a kid.
Thanks for dropping by, Niculita!!!

Actually, the 23,000 ("Forest of the Impaled") was primarily comprised of Ottoman prisoners, along with a nominal amount of political dissidents.

Why was Romania a principality at the time? was it always this way? Why was he dubbed a prince and not King?
crawhip2 2 years ago
@crawhip2 : Romania wasn't a principality. Romania, during the middle ages, consisted of the principalities of Wallachia, Moldavia and Transylvania.
